Where Are The Lokams?

Lokam, Ponkan, Mandarin oranges - where are the freebies?

Just a few more days to Chinese New Year, and the office didn't receive much this year. Seriously, the mandarin oranges we got for Chinese New Year continue to decrease year after year. It used to be hard for me to distribute them to other colleagues because they all have way too much already for them to bring back and now? People are asking for them! Is the economy still bad? Or is it because of the higher price of the fruit? But then, every year there is a reason or two for the higher price of mandarin oranges, come Chinese New Year. Don't you think so too?

Anyway, I don't buy them and I'll just wait for free ones to come my way. Send them over, folks! Quick!

Though I was a tad mollified by the few boxes of Chinese New Year themed chocolates and cupcakes that came my way this year. Lovely, aren't they? Not to mention yummy too!

  6. @SK,
Yes! And I was waiting for some from the legal firms too! :D

Wah, your company sure knows how to take care of their staff. So envy! All I got from my company was two medium size orange. Lucky they were sweet. :D

The pralines were from a hotel, and the cupcakes were given to my boss by her niece who had a friend running a cupcake store somewhere and she passed it down to me. People know I'm always on the lookut for caterers, bakery and any place that serve food! :D

And the orange - it's a real one.

  12. I see less oranges this year - either there is less at the source or we are not importing more.

Are these goodies yours or are they supposed to be shared with colleagues? Not enough to go around, I'm sure.

  13. @levian,
I soooo agree that a lot of the oranges are sour! Even the expensive ones. So not worth paying for them. :(

  14. @HappySurfer,
I greedily had the pralines all to myself but the cupcakes were shared around, with extras. ^-^

  15. I have to agree, my office only got one box and that's it. I remember a time when we would have so many that we gave them all away!

  16. @Nick,
Yeah, in previous years we all got so sick at eating those oranges. I had trouble trying to get rid of them, I finally cajoled the office cleaners to take back plastic bags and plastic bags of them because no one in the office want them.
