Who Says Running Is A Cheap Sport?

Really? Why is running a cheap sport? It sure isn't cheap for me! LOL

I know I've been going on and on and on about my running endeavours lately but that's just because I can't believe that I am actually enjoying the workout and look forward to each run. By the way, happy to say that my 6K target has been reached by the end of April. Yeay me!

I've been visiting the sports stores a LOT lately. Lucky for me, Zaini and Raimie had been pretty patient and let me spent hours going from one store to the other, just to find one sock!

Got myself two running shirts and two pairs of "blister prevention" running sock recently. That's on top of the new Adidas shoes I got earlier. Don't know whether the sock will live up to its promise but with a price tag of RM26 per pair, I sure hope so! I got it because I think I'll get blisters on my left feet if I'm not careful. I've noticed that the left foot will get really hot after just a 40 minutes while the right foot felt OK.

Got myself a tub of Vaseline, to counter that blister problem too.

Anyway, I'm not running at Lake Garden Saturday morning. Raimie has his Sports Day that day so we are attending that. I'm deferring my workout till next week. I'm sure I'll get antsy not running though. XD

And I'm still eyeing that Nike+ Sportbands with plenty of interest. Hmmm... should I just get it? I sure can't afford to buy the new Nike+ GPS Sports Watch Nick is planning to buy.

  4. @SK,
Thanks. Yeah, so happy the 6K is reached. Next goal 10K but that's a couple of months away. Dunno whether can meet or not because the weather's too hot! @.@

Nice equipment can somewhat motivate us to do more and push us furhter. And actually, I noticed a big difference on how my knees felt after putting on that new shoes of mine. ^^

I go hi-tech when I'm running and yet when I used to hit the gym at Mid Valley, I just wore any old tee I got in my closet! LOL

  13. I think only the serious are serious about being properly equipped and attired. You are definitely serious about running and being fit. Congrats on achieving the 6k.

The word to learn today is 'serious'. LOL!

  14. Wah! Congrats on your 6K achievement. Now translate that to $6K will be better haha!!

  15. Well running is a cheap sport if you don't buy branded running shoes, socks and Nike + iPod! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  16. But if you are serious runner, then it won't come cheap just like everything else. Haha!

  17. I am not into running long distances. Just more into high intensive, interval, short distance running. Only 30 minutes and it's done. No time for longer LOL!

  18. So what's your next goal? 10K? : )

  19. Oh btw, the haze is back! Dammit! Cant go jogging in the parks anymore!! : (

  20. @HappySurfer,
The serious word was mentioned 4 times in your comment. Serious stuff indeed! LOL

  21. @foong,
I wish! Then I run more and get richer lor. LOL

True. If don't go for branded stuff, then it is not expensive. But what to do? Gaya oso mesti ada. XD

I try to do both. Interval when I'm pressed for time and long distance during weekends when I have the time to run and run and run. I want to challenge myself to see how far my stamina allow me to run. ^^

Yalah! Damn haze. How to go outside? Air so unhealthy? :(

  22. Yes, running can make you a pauper in no time!

I just bought that same Nike dri-fit socks and it does feel nice to run in and justifies the price tag of RM26.00 :D I'm sure you'll find it pretty comfy but for that price tag, it had better be comfy ... LOL!

Congrats on the 6k target and yes, you should go get the Sports band :D

  23. @Nick,
Indeed it will! For us, anyway. LOL

I like that socks already. Makes so much difference than wearing any old socks of mine. :)

Yeah, I should get the sports band soon. ^^

  25. @levian,
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

But too hot to feel any wind when running nowadays. What with the haze some more. XD

  26. Congratulations on your 6k! Sadly, I can't comment on sports gear as I hardly do any :P

But I do think comfort is important so look at it as an investment :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. @sriyany,
Yeah, an investment to an injury free and being motivated to keep on working out. :)

  28. Wow/...that's a lofty goal, but I know you can make it . It's really nice to shop for fitness clothes isn't it? It makes you even feel healthy and fit.

  29. @Nick,
So cham... replied to your comment earlier, and now they are all gone. :(

I'm really liking the dri-fit socks. That and rubbing vaseline sure made a huge difference to my comfort when running. :)

    BTW, thanks for the e-mail.

  30. @Bing,
Shopping for the outfits certainly a great motivation to do more workouts (running, in my case) ^^
