Don't Tell Me I Lost Weight

I don't know about you, but when random people suddenly remarked about how I looked like I lost weight, they won't exactly get a warm reply from me or a smile.

As a matter of fact, I do take offense when somebody/anybody mentioned it to me, especially when that somebody is particularly on the heavy side themselves.

Here I was minding my own business going to the apartment's gym when suddenly a guy that was doing some weights remarked that I lost a lot of weight. I was like, Hello! Was I that fat to begin with?

I told Zaini about it and he remarked "Were you fat?" Exactly!

Tell me I look fitter or I'm stronger or I run faster/longer but please, do not ever tell me I lost weight. I just don't appreciate it. So there!

  1. I run my butt off to be in the shape I am in and it pisses me off big time when people look at me and say, wah you lost weight, you sick ah? Darn you people, there is a difference between losing weight when you're sick and losing weight because you're fit and healthy! I so know how you feel!

  2. Maybe he meant it as a compliment? Or maybe he got you mixed up with another big lady?

Interesting WV: lessess - as if it knows we are talking about weight. LOL

  3. I know rite? People actually told me I look skinny. But then again, I lost 12kg to begin with. But I'm not skinny, I'm just healthy XD losing more weight during the fasting month but flab around tummy coz lack of exercising XD

  4. That's quite tactless of the guy *shakes head*

I also hate it when people tell me how skinny I look - like I'm purposely starving myself of food!

  5. ooopsss!! garangnya makcik ni, hahaha.. i just think most people when they say some other people loose weight, they don't imply anything, it's just merely that you've become fitter - but in their context or vocab, loose weight.. :)

  6. they don't intend any offense lah, so just take it easy and don't feel humiliated ok?? maaf, zahir dan batin~~ :)

  9. The guy must have thought he was paying you a compliment :) I do hate it when people say, you're so thin! As if I were sick or something. Hello, I'm working out to shed stubborn pregnancy weight and I've done it finally! Now I just ignore it :)

  10. Just checking to see if you have problems posting anything on Daily Mile. I can't seem to update my runs or leave comments at all. Just wondering if it's only isolated to me or across the board.

  11. @Nick,
It's downright annoying if you are super fit and skinny but people think you are sick. :(

  12. @HappySurfer,
Can't be a mistake. He knows my hubby. If he think he is complimenting me, he is sadly mistaken. And I pointedly ignored him and concentrate with my own workout after that.

  13. @Maslight,
Yeah, even if I am skinny, it's no fun being told I'm skinny. Been there. Skinny kena komen, tak skinny pun orang komen. Huhuhu

But wow! You managed to shed off 12kg? Salute!

  14. @SK,
Apa makcik? Not yet 40, cannot call me makcik! ;)

I'm not humiliated. I'm just annoyed. I don't comment on other people's physical appearance so I don't appreciate it if people do it to me, compliments or no.

But of course if I am talking about it or discussing about it and then you comment about me, that's within the context. But not out of the blue, you comment about me losing weight. It's like, why? Is the weight loss so obvious? Was I fat? You know? xD

  16. @Jellybelly,
Compliment us on our effort but don't comment about us being fat or thin. Right?

  17. @Nick,
Ya, had the same problem commenting earlier. :(

  18. Oops! I must remember not to mention anything about your weight if I see you next time! Haha!!

  19. But no need lah to get so worked up about what others say. I have had an experience where someone said I put on weight and another said I lost some weight in the same day. So you see, whether we put on weight or lose weight is really just someone else's opinion and may not be the truth : )
