A Weekend Rendesvous

On a whim, Zaini and I decided to spend a night at a hotel  the weekend before the fasting month starts. (For the uninitiated, Ramadhan which is the fasting month for Muslims all around the world started on Aug 1 this year).

The Hotel wasn't able to accommodate our request for an early check-in at 12pm... oh well.... and my request to change room would have meant getting a normal room rather than the upgrade they provided us...Why did I ask for a change in room? Because I saw that initially we were provided with a room on the upper floor. I asked the reason for the change and was told it was because the room on the upper floor was a smoking floor. I don't mind a smoking room, actually. :(
but all was well with this fruit basket. Yahaha!!!! I am such a sucker for fruit baskets. Sure was nice to get them instead of a few pieces of fruits on a plate. Right? And being recognised by sight at the reception counter is always such an ego booster.
The view from the balcony wasn't that great this time, what with the possibility of "neighbours" being able to see us just like we can see them, if we were not careful.
We called room service, like we always did when we checked-in, and had a nice dinner of  Caesar salad and BBQ burger. Nothing fancy but it is always nice to have a quiet dinner in the comfort of our room. ^^

We had a nice relaxing time by the pool and of course a nice soak in the bath tub. All was well until nighttime...

Note to self - check with the hotel first when booking whether there are any wedding party, delegation or a big group checking in on the same day. The MIC delegation seemed to have booked half the hotel rooms, and almost the whole of 6th floor, the floor we were on. The din these delegation made the whole night - ugh! We switched the TV on the whole night just to drown their voices. Imagine opening the door to check out the commotion outside my room and seeing men clad only in towels standing in the corridor chatting. Not a good sight to see. @.@

I told the guys off, after all - if they want to chat (naked for all I care) do it in front of their room! Then I complained to the duty manager. The noise did lessen a bit afterwards but just for a while. By this time I took it that it was pretty much useless to complain since I am just one guest against a whole entourage of MIC members staying there. The hotel can afford to lose my measly business but definitely not the prospect of a business from a big political party, right? I'm not blaming the hotel, no. It makes business sense to accommodate those noisy guests more, rather than one individual.

Noisy guests at night and early in the morning aside, it was nice to be able to spend a night there sleeping on a nice big bed with fluffy sheets and  soft, down pillow. I just hope that when we go there for our birthdays in September, there won't any big, noisy group staying there. I want a nice quiet  stay with my husband! If I want noise, I might just as well stay at home and listen my son's chatter all night long. It'll be much much more entertaining.

  1. What I dislike about staying in a hotel is having to share the facilities with some inconsiderate guests. grrr...

  4. hmmm, actually to me, being able to stay in a comfortable hotel room is a bliss.. and i actually don't mind staying in the room or hotel to enjoy the amenities.. but for food, errr, i'd rather explore outside than room service..

  11. @ECL,
I hate it too, inconsiderate guests but I figured that rather than spoil my mood further, I just try ignore them as best as I could.

But hearing Tamil all night long, as they talk amongst themselves from the balconies sure wasn't a peaceful night. o.O :(

  12. @SK,
Of course the upgraded one lah.... The upgraded room got sofa and a bigger bathroom. ^^

If we stay in a hotel in KL, we usually don't like to go out and scour for food. The stay usually would be spent wholly in the room except for the time at the pool. ^^ Romantic to have dinner in room some more. Hihihi

  13. @SK,
About being noisy - yeah. If I go to a hotel with a bunch of friends/kakis, I think I would have made the same noise. But of course would pipe down if kena scold by the management after that. LOL

  14. @Eugene,
Didn't expect hubby to agree with me, when I mentioned it. But he agreed so I was rather happy to spend the night in luxury. Good thing the hotel gave me a good rate, not so expensive and upgrade us some more. ;)

Didn't bring the camera to the pool area. But this is a hotel we always go to when we want to just relax and don't want to travel far. There were photos of the pool somewhere in previous posts. :)

  16. @LV,
That's why lah. Cannot sleep at night because of noise. Then woken up early in the morning because of noise too. Really wrong timing lah, staying there that time. :(

Lucky the rest of time, those people are out for the MIC AGM so during the day it was pretty quiet.

  17. @Merryn,
A pity. But still, we had a nice stay there. Looking forward to the next stay in September. Hopefully, it'll be quieter the next time we visit. :)

  18. @Nick,
Where got kaya. You shoes more expensive than a night stay there, I bet. ;P

Anyway, Zaini got a bit of extra cash, receiving his long service award (5 years already got an award, I had to wait 10 years for mine! LOL) so that's why I try, try ask whether he wants to go stay a night in a hotel. ;p

  19. Alamak, how to honeymoon with all the noise and disruption... pity you, should hv asked for another room change.:(

  20. @Alice,
No point asking for room change. The MIC people booked like 3/4 of the hotel rooms there. Can here them inside and outside too. We can avoid their noise, but checking-out that night. @.@

  21. Yup, I SO agree. Having to endure noise at night outside the hotel room is so annoying! Make sure to check next time. And the view (can see other people's balcony) is quite a turn-off

  22. @Bella,
Right? I wonder why those people need to shout out when speaking to each other. If they are so far, cannot use the telephone, ah? :(

  23. The fruit is too pretty to eat! Love staying weekends in a hotel, it just feel so luxurious. The big beds, bathroom, room service and the pool! Too bad about the noisy neighbors.

  24. Nice hotel and looked like a nice way to spend the weekend until I read "all was well until nighttime..." Yikes! Sure sound like a ghost story to me!!! Hahaha! Alas it wasn't! : D

    ReplyDelete
  25. OMG! The whole MIC delegation were there?! Sure spoilt your quiet weekend right? How unfortunate! Might as well stay home - more peace and quiet in your house! LOL!!

  26. @Jellybelly,
Yeah, too bad about noisy neighbours. :(

  27. @foong,
Everyone has ghosts in their mind now, is it? XD

Yeah, with all that din those MIC people were making, might as well stay at home. But hey! other than the noise, we did enjoy our stay. :)
