Will You Stop Looking At The New Arrivals?

That's what my poor long, suffering hubby would say everytime we hit the sports store and I go, look and touch a new pair of shoes on display. It's automatic. I don't know whether it's the way the shoes are displayed but even if the shoes aren't on my eye-level, my attention would go to the newest,  most striking and mostly most expensive pair of shoes there.

I was looking a pair of trail shoes and of course the ones I like are the ones with the most "blinding" colour - think bright purple with dash of lime green or pink; and it's equally "blinding" price tag too. LOL

Anyway, after trawling more than a dozen sports stores, and the fact that I might not need the trail shoes that bad yet, I got myself this pair of Nike running shoes instead. It is imperative for me to have one pair of running shoes that isn't so obviously "running shoes" i.e. white. That said, I was enthralled with a pair of Newton shoes that I tried at Key Sports. But at RM599, I'll take a rain check. ^^!
It's a marked-down priced shoes (horror! kakaka) and for the time being I'll use it mainly as a walking shoe during my vacation. Though I hope to throw in a couple of runs in the next two weeks too. ^^

And for Raimie; who told me after the IOI Community Run that he wishes to join running races too, we got him this pair of shoes.
I wish I had registered both of us to the Desa Park City Run. The next race that allows children participation which Raimie can enter will be the Larian Jom Kitar Semula 2011 on Dec 18th, a few days we come back from our vacation. I wanted to enter, but Zaini's been keeping quiet about it so I don't know whether he agrees for Raimie to join the Run too. Fingers (and toes) crossed! xD

  1. I had the same problem. My eyes would be ogling at the newest most striking ones. And I'll complain if it's not pretty XD I currently have my eyes on the new balance RevLite Rainbow *chuckled, I saw that during my trip to Penang but stupidly didn't went and try it on or just get one there instead waited to go check it out here instead lol! Bummer!

I'm not in dying need of a new pair but I'd love to have an extra hehe.

  4. Lina, I stopped buying "New Arrival" for some time. The Brooks that I running on are all old model and marked down at least 50% (if not more, instate of one pair, I got 2 pairs for the same price). :D

KJ, yup, got the Lunar Glide 3 from the last Sunday Nike We Run KL... (the thumb-drive) LOL.

  10. @HappySurfer,
It's much narrower than the Adidas or the Brooks that I own. Did a 9+km run in it on Monday and had slight blister forming issue with it. Other than that, it fits like a glove. ;)

  16. Someone who has much experience with sports shoes shared that Adidas shoes are more comfortable than Nike's. I read that slim cut works better to hold the foot and I tend to agree. Incidence of sprains can be reduced and no extra room for friction to occur resulting in blisters.

When I pick shoes, I usually go for a pair that fits snugly with enough breathing space for the toes.

Bet you are counting days to the big travel day, huh?

  17. Haha! I also always check out The New Arrivals everytime be it shoes or clothes. And then have to settle for the discounted ones. LOL!!

  19. @HappySurfer,
I like my Adidas, my Nikes and my Brooks just fine. And I do get proper consultation before buying them. ;)

Already Day 2 in Japan actually! ^^

  20. @JellyBelly,
Zaini ran with us too, but to expect him join me on my long runs (and without walk stop) would be too much. I am happy that he does accompany me during those 2 hour runs on his bike. He doesn't need to run alongside for me to be happy and appreciative of him. ^^

  21. @KJ,
OMGosh! I found LunarGlide 3 sold at 30% discount at Sports Authority in Yokohama just now! Was so drooling over it. And all the running gear I cannot find in KL. Habislah all my Yen gonna be spent buying compression wear, atas bawah! Huhuhu

  22. I'm in dire need of new shoes!! I want to get an Adidas.. my last Nike ones that I bought weren't as comfy as the Adidas ones I tried on recently. But since my Nike ones kena curi (#$%#%#%!!!!!), I really need new ones. And i've got a run this Sunday, dunno if the hubs will be happy with my request for new shoes or not. hahaha

  25. @Shemah,
You guys running the MPSJ? All the best and have fun! :)

Kan Nike ada sale. What more reason you want to buy a new one to replace the old stolen shoes, kan? ;)

  26. @HappySurfer,
Yeah, I was busy shoe (make that running shoe shopping), Zaini had to ask me "you totally forgot to buy a new pair of jeans, don't you?" and the answer was "never mind. We can do it later. kakaka" Everything else become second fiddle to new shoes. ;)
