1Q Report

Gawd! It's the 3rd day of April! What have I achieved in the first three months of 2012? Nothing of note, which pretty much sums up my life anyhow. Heh.

So Raimie had his first test of the year in March. Still the no. 2 in class. I went to meet up with his class teacher last week to talk over about his performance. We need to improve on his Malay Language subject. Looking at the overall result of his class, it seems that everyone has the same issue; with students in his class averaging at 40-50% marks. Is Malay Language so hard this year? For somebody who never needed to work much on her language subjects and still ace them, it boggles the mind to see such bad results! But then, others would look at my Maths results and shake their heads too. (~_~;)

Work wise - stagnant on my side. Zaini  is now at a different department, working longer hours than he used to. Him working later than what I'm used to reminded me of him when he was working at one of the biggest Malaysian bank. I'd be lucky if I see him at 9.00pm and he still be at the office on weekends sometimes! Thank goodness the current job isn't that bad.
I have an achievement of sorts to celebrate. With the last run I did on Mar 30, I am clocking 1,000km worth of mileage! 1,000km from Jul 2011 - Mar 2012. Not too shabby, eh? I am certainly looking forward doing the next 1,000km! Wish me luck! (≧∇≦)

Also, I finally managed to make a trip to the post office and sent a package over to someone whom I promised weeks ago. It took me three weeks to buy a book, another three weeks to find a suitable wrapper for the book and a week to finally wrap it before putting it in an envelope and made that trip to send it. Jungle Woman, it should arrive to your doorstep in ten days' time!

All in all, a pretty uneventful first three months of 2012 for us. Maybe we should stir things up a little bit? For fun? (^▽^)

  1. The Jungle Woman gives a very deep, very polite Japanese bow to thank you! When the book arrives, she will probably give a very impolite, very barbaric yell of pleasure! ^^ (Excellent timing: in a week to ten days I will probably be complaining bitterly about this year's crop of new students and their lack of linguistic skills, so I'll need a diversion!)

1000 km in one year? Wow. Congratulations! Wow!

Please tell Zaini he mustn't turn into a Japanese salaryman! We work to live, not live to work, ja?

Why are all the students doing so poorly in Malay? Do they have a good teacher?

PS: Let's not talk about our own maths results. Let's not go there at all.

    1. And the Malayan Jungle woman bowed deeply in consternation for her inability to do things efficiently. If only she does things the way she do her runs. That's too say, without delay not quickly. ;p

1,000km. Can't believe it myself. I'm going to reward myself by eating a triple cheeseburger tonight. heh heh

Well, 9pm is a bit early for a Japanese salaryman, no? But yes, I will remind him to not work to live. His purpose to live should be to make me happy. ^^

The Malay paper? I don't know. I checked the paper and saw the markings. Asked around too. It seems the students were answering it wrongly and not as per the marker (teacher) wanted. But as Raimie adamantly insisted, the way he answered was the way his teacher taught. Ah well...

I'm "forcing" him to read books on "karangan" /composition now. After getting yelled on Sunday for being fresh, he was surprisingly hardworking yesterday. ;p

    2. Hmmm. I asked about the teacher because if the whole class is doing so poorly, then perchance the fault lies not with the students ...

"His purpose in life should be to make me happy." That made me giggle gleefully. YES! Absolutely correct! :D

PS: Scribbles mental note to self to be a very hard-working friendly foreign local guide so that I don't get yelled at.

    3. Well, half the class got a D. Who am I to criticise a teacher though.

And well, shouldn't that be a man's main purpose in life? hihi

Me yelling is nothing. It's me not talking that scare the two boys. ;p

  2. Hello April. Soon it'll be May then June! Can't wait. I think I know I don't really have much marathon planned this year. But I'm gonna try to make time for some :)

On another note, what? Malay subject so hard? @_@"""

    1. Aiyoh. If from Standard 1 till now always get #2, where's the achievement? No improvement lah! ;)

The boy who got 1st place has 3A2B.
      Raimie has 2A1B1C.

  5. hmmm, only an average of 40-50% for the Malay languange?? wow, that's pretty low right?? so Raimie is above average??

    1. Raimie is average. Got lucky it's a C. If he got a D; which half his class got, then he gets a fail. Half his class was classified as FAIL and he is in the 1st class. The budak pandai class! @.@

    1. Yup, averaging about that for a month.

Apr will see me raking up more mileage as there will be weeks I'll try to hit 50K per week. All for Standard Chartered KL Marathon in June. :)

  9. You are scaring me, Lina. 40-50% for Malay language? My girl is weak in her BM as we converse in Chinese and English most of the time.

    1. My boy doesn't talk at all in Arabic but he always gets 90% and above for that!

English results also not bad although Mommy doesn't know how to talk in English with him. LOL

My colleagues lamented that Tahap 2 is way different than Tahap 1. So brace for more studying in Std 4 onwards Yvonne!

  10. Wow, Raimie is good to get #2 despite the BM subject. And you mentioned before he sat for 15+ subjects for his school and agama class. Bravo, boy and mummy!

  15. That BM scoreline is pretty shocking. I would think English would be the problem seeing that BM is the medium of instruction in school.

Congratulations on making that milestone of 1000km. This calls for a celebration or some sort of reward for yourself. Cheers!

    1. English shouldn't be a problem if the benchmark for it is low. Anyway, Son is still learning Maths and Science in English.
