Fun-Filled Saturday

How's the weekend so far, peeps? Having fun so far? ^^

I had a great Saturday. Quite a productive day too. Started the day later than intended despite setting the alarm at 5.30am. I rolled out of bed only after Zaini kicked me out of it at 6.58am and told me off for not waking up earlier and do my morning run.

Being late, decided to skip breakfast (of 1 huge banana usually & a glass of water + ORS) and after changing to running gears & a bit of time in the loo; I just went straight to run. My usual routine would take me an hour of mooching around before I stepped out of the house on weekend mornings. As usual, when I wake up, Raimie would wake up too. Because I woke up late, he woke up later than he would on weekends. Mommy gotta let son sleep more, right? ;)

Did the run following the Runner's World training plan to the tee. A mix of half-marathon pace, 10K pace and speed intervals. Didn't think I'd have the energy to do the speed intervals after doing what felt like a hard 7K but was sure glad that I didn't wimp out on the speed intervals!
After brunch, we head out to Wisma OCM to collect my Energizer Night Race kit. Smooth collection with the help of the staff there.

It was my first time going to Wisma OCM and even if I didn't know the way to the hall where the collection is set-up, the number of people wearing an assortment of running tees (saw quite a number sporting Nike 2011 Run t-shirts, Newton's, Bareno, a lot of Full Marathon finisher tees...) clued me in on where to head to. ^^

Which makes me want to ask to runners out there -  where and when do you wear your race t-shirts and vests? At home? When doing groceries? At other races? Or you just collect them?
Saw these two fellas and simply had to stop. How can we resist "forcing"our son to pose with Energizer's mascot. hehe
and posing everywhere else we find interesting. After collecting my race kit and checking the timing chip, we walked around and checked the booths that were set up there. Got Powerbar energy gel for free, looked at Garmin watches, stayed away (very far away) from Brooks booths and looked at some batteries and torchlights (this is after all an Energizer race).
Then, it was off to next door and to FTAA office to register myself to the upcoming race in May; the Larian Bersama Bomba. Just 20bucks for registration fees and I got to pick between a white/yellow/blue t-shirt.
Two race kits collected that day. Energizer Night Race with orange running vest (category G : Women Open 15.5K) and Larian Bersama Bomba (Category B : Women Open 10K).

Anyways, I also registered myself to Standard Chartered Fun Run to be held on 26 May. Just 8K for Women Open (decided that 5K Women Veteran is hard for me. heh heh) but it's a free run! Am having second thoughts about running it though.  It'll start at 8.00am and by experience, running at 8am in Putrajaya I will definitely get roasted! But if I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna treat it as my tempo run day. :)
To thank Zaini and Raimie for having to tag along, they got a treat at Starbucks. We went to Alamanda, walked around the mall for a bit before heading home. Half a day spent out of the house is a good day for me! Love my two fellas for supporting me! Muaks!

    1. Waking up late only means running with the morning sun and suffer more. xD

I try not to miss my weekend runs unless there is a valid reason for it. Waking up late is not one of them... usually. ^^

  6. hahaha!! to answer your question, i think many will just treat those vest as casual wear at home or for sleep or for working out in the gym, and for those serious runners, during their training..

But that caffeine kick sure looking good.

    5. Studies shows that caffeine can help kick-start a run.

I only can indulge in caffeine after a run. Before, scared have to stop mid-run to "pangsai" LOL

My son luckily not scared of them. He just felt cheesy posing with them. LOL

    1. No lah. He always kick me out of bed on weekends.

He knows that sometimes I got lazy but if I skip my morning run, my mood will be sour that day. Then, he also cannot have peace all day. If I run, no matter how late (there are times I'm still running around at hot 10am!) I will come back with a cheery mood. :)

  21. That picture of Raimie with the mascots, very nice!
