Why Should I?

A continuation of the Why Don't Yous earlier. Nope, I'm not in a bad mood today. And this is not a rant. Just a Saturday morning rambling. Ahaks!

This weekend Qs of why should I?

Why should I buy an expensive handbag?

Some say it's so fulfilling to own one of the designer's handbag. And they say that once you own one, you'd never go back to normal handbags again. Plus, you want more. You'll acquire more.

Well, I find my fulfillment elsewhere.

But if it makes someone happy (and provided they can well afford these overpriced item), by all means indulge. Judging by the hordes at Coach, LV, Burberry, etc here at the Gardens Mall, Malaysian women are sure indulging! And well-heeled enough to afford them. Bravo I say!

For me, a 70% off, RM200.00 Elle bag or rather a Bonia or Sembonia bag do just fine for me.

No need to take pity on me sporting a no class bag. I rather spend two weeks in Japan than splurge it on a bag anyway. But that's just me.

Though sometimes I find it annoying having to justify myself to some "well-meaning" friends and colleagues who worry about my state of luxury-less handbags. Thank you for caring. If you care so much, I'll let you know my birthday is on the Sep 23rd. Just saying. Ha!

  2. I agree spending 2 weeks in Japan is much better than buying a luxury handbag! Besides, nowadays when you see someone with a luxury handbag like LV, you tend to wonder if that handbag is real or fake one. Haha!!

    1. True!

Sometimes, you see people sporting it and you'd think whether it's real or not.

If I own one, I think the handbag would cost 10times more than the cost of the things I put inside it! @.@

    2. Muahaha! I like the statement, "the handbag would cost 10times more than the cost of the things I put inside it". I agree.

And I would be fighting with my life, if some snatcher tried to take it away from me. Designer bag wor, I work with my blood and sweat to buy it one~

  3. I'm not going to add my own rant ... sorry, rambling ... about Japanese women and LV.

If your identity depends on your bag, OK, but I'd rather see what books, if any, you have on your bookshelves.

PS: My favourite - ha! only! - bag is ten years old. Bought for about R200 (¥2000) in SA. My camera backpack was also about ¥2000, bought in Ameyoko. :)

    1. Japanese women and their LVs. Yeah, that deserve a special rant post. ;p

I have a weekend sling bag that cost RM12.90 and I still get laughed by my younger sisters for sporting it around. ;)

  4. well, I don't usually own a designer bag but my husband bought me one.

  5. yeah, i don't have a branded bag also, and i don't care to have one either..

    ReplyDelete
  6. and same applies to branded apparels like clothes, pants and shoes.. i'd rather spend the money elsewhere like a holiday or makan..

    ReplyDelete
  7. while people feel they are more posh wearing (or shall i said being worn by) the branded stuffs, i rather see them as no class - not everyone can carry branded stuff well..

    1. nowadays any makcik also can wear branded goods.

  8. anyway, it's just personal preference that they like to spend money to "buy" their status.. well, not for me..

    ReplyDelete
  9. i always think "status" is something you feel from inside a person's personality, and not just those things that are laid outside your body..

    ReplyDelete

    1. though plenty of people seem to think that by showing off, they can buy status (and respect).

  10. just for instance, somebody whom i can't feel that even with LV, Prada, Burberry and Coach all over versus somebody whom i can feel that even with only a cheap t-shirt and jeans.. it really make a difference..

    1. and I respect those customer service / staff who still nice even to us wearing cheapo stuff, just as they do with the Prad/LV toting customers. Not easy to find though.

  11. BTW, i hate LV, don't understand why so many people buy just for the sake of buying??!! it's so ugly!! and if you go to Paris, nobody wants an LV besides Asians (especially Chinese Mainlanders)~~

    1. and Japanese!

I too can't understand the lure of LV. Those brown LV with its sign all over the place lah. The more subtle ones are quite nice. ;)

But then again, as hubby always tells me - I can't understand the lure because I can't afford them. hu~

  12. ok, you may say i condemn those branded stuffs because i can't afford any.. well, up to you to say but that's just what i think..

    1. People would say the same to me too.

But then, some people can't afford them but still worship the shelves those things are on! ;p

    1. But to those yang ada, diaorg would say it is meant to last a lifetime! kakaka

Yeah, 70% off are the best. Apart from free ones. kikiki

  14. Yeap, why should I buy an expensive handbag and just to show off to others??? Unless someone give to me, I don't mind taking it. I would definitely not buy one. I have so many handbags and mostly are not up to RM100.00. The most expensive one would be a Prada bag bought by hubby as a present from China.

    1. Gift handbags are the best! Never mind the price. :)

I got one too, from my Boss.

My hubby knows me well enough to not buy an expensive one for me. ;p

    1. My hubby still uses a Versace wallet I got for him 14 years ago. ;p

And I use his Comme des Garcons wallet that he didn't use for more than 3 years now. hihihi

But both wallets are nondescript in design. Nothing on them to shout out their brand name and that's how we like it. :)

    2. Oo~~ a lot of Chinese indeed try to push up their status. I gotta agree with that.

  18. Ah~~ after working for 10 years, I finally splurge RM1K to get my favourite branded bag. Judging from the price, it's not any LV.

All these years I'm just using some pasar malam bag, kekeke!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Some friends of mine has numerous branded bag, with minimal priced at RM4K!

Yaloh, they can afford it and I'm super stingy to spend on anything other than 50-70% discounted one.

  20. I see students are also using branded handbags, so luxury.

    ReplyDelete
  21. With my aunty style, I think even if I used authentic LV, many would think I bought it A-grade fake one, kekeke!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Tell me, when you see a lady with LV but she's driving a Kancil, what's your immediate thought? Fake one (even though she's using real one)!!

And when you see a lady with LV, driving Mercedes, my first (bad) judgement is authentic bag, even though she's merely using fake one.
