Do Your Own Laundry Today!

If you think Zaini wants to help wash my mud splattered clothes that I wore during this morning Salomon X-Trail run, you must've been thinking Zaini is a saint. (He is, but he ain't gonna do my laundry. Not the super smelly ones anyway!) Bwahaha
Super muddy, super dirty and of course, super awesome fun under the sun run at Salomon X-Trail Run; along the trails at Universiti Putra Malaysia and disturbing cows along the way!

Absent-minded me totally forgot to bring the compact camera along although I already put it aside to carry during the run. Heck! I even forgot to bring my handphone along! Not to mention, being late for the run.
We arrived after the men were already flagged-off and walking to the starting line at UPM's stadium, saw Uncle Oliver and stopped to take photo. He's a fixture in road races here and a much respected and loved runner.

Starting alone. Old habits die hard. The habit of arrving to race venue late. Ahahah... Despite being late, I still took my time starting and posed for photos for a bit here. I actually turned back after running a few metres and did that running pose in the second photo because Zaini asked me to. wakaka

The early part of the route. Wish I was able to take photo during the run especially with the cows but I forgot my camera and handphone, remember? Roling hills abound. You don't enter a run expecting an easy route if the event organizer is Pacesetters Athletic Club. Expect to suffer with them!

The race marshalls and volunteer in this run were absolutely AWESOME! This is a truly fun run because it was superbly organised - distance marker at each KM, marshalls yelling out encouragement, great signs at strategic spot that make you smile like :
1. "Fresh milk anyone?" in front of the cow's pen
2. "The hills are alive" when we are at the foot of a steep hill
3. "Crawl like a baby" at a gate and particularly slippery stretch, etc
Great motivator, them.
Towards the final lap of the run. You call that running, Lina? More like shashaying to the finish line! Muahaha Saw Zaini there and motioned him to join me running towards the finishing line on the track; the final 200m of it and HE DID! I was super happy!
Got my medal, my certs and they gave us a white Salomon cap too! And then off I go to cari makan (find nourishment)
Remember the tau foo fa I didn't get to eat during fasting month's run - the Pacemaker Anniversary Run (PAR8). I got to enjoy tau foo fa this time!!! Plus nasi lemak too. Cups and cups of Nestle cereal. Yakult was there too. Milo van tadak though.
Plus made several visits to this table and eat these super sweet and refreshing watermelons. Yummeh! I tell you, we (Yup, Zaini got to enjoy the food too) were very full by the time we left the venue afterwards! Super generous event.

After makan, the photo session again! Met Fairy, Nannoor, Eezard, Uncle Oliver and a whole bunch of people. What runners love other than running - a camera pointing at them. No need to care whose camera lah, just join saja! Muahaha
After all that, only remembered better to wash off all these grime before heading home....

Wash, wash, wash... wash the shoes properly now and don't waste own water at home to do them! Water bill high already. I have to pay my water bills unlike rich people (like SP and Tan Sri Anay Kim) living in landed property in Selangor. Apartment dwellers kena bayar water bill. hu~
Yeay! I did it! Plus, did it and had fun all the way. Managed not to step on any cow dung along the way too! No smelly cow or their shit inhaled but at one point during the run, got farted at by the guy in front of me. I think he got tummy issue lah, fart so loud and it sounded like he's gonna have a watery type of "berak" soon! Hope he got to find a place to finish his business!
My Salomon X-Trail cert & medal. 10K? My Timex GPS watch read a 11.19K run this morning. It took me 1 hour 30 minutes running/walking happily so I guess not too bad lah. The  most important thing is that I was smiling all the way, even after the run!

Great run! Great event! See you next year Salomon X-Trail!

p.s. You can check out the whole route over at Tristupe's blog. The difference though, we ran in a wetter condition than when he did that recce. heh heh

  1. Loved this post. Chuckled happily as I read it. This is not a road race, lah, this is bundu-bashing! (Bundu = remote wilderness.)

    How old is Uncle Oliver?

Will those shoes ever be pink again?!

Why no bunny ears? Didn't want to scare the cows? :D

    1. Bundu-bashing? Sounds cool! Though this particular route isn't all that bundu. xD

Uncle Oliver is 70+. ^^ Awesome, right? He runs marathons with a smile, always. I mean those 42.195km ones not what some people call marathon but is actually a mere 5K fun run. ;p He was in Taiping too!

I' retiring that poor shoes and will take out a same model, same colour shoes out of the box after this. This one going to be donated. :)

There were people at the run asking me exactly that! Wahahaha

I don't mind my running shoes getting all muddy but I will not have my bunny ears dirty! ;p

    2. Bundu-bashing is travelling through any kind of rough terrain ... not because you HAVE to, but because you WANT to. We do weird things for fun in Africa. Clearly in Malaysia, too. :p

70+?! Sugoi! Never stop, Uncle Oliver, never stop!

    3. OK, I goddit, you wanted new pink shoes, so you deliberately went bundu-bashing in these old ones. Right? :D

    4. South African and Malaysian are kindred spirits! Yeay us! :)

psst... don't tell Zaini but that new pink shoes is hidden somewhere just waiting to come out from storage after this run! I needed an excuse to retire this old pair! ^^!

p.s. was ogling and totally fell in love with one Asics trail shoes when out buying Zaini's birthday present. I should absolutely find more muddy races to justify getting it soon! LOL

    1. Cows were behind the fence, fortunately. LOL

We sure were one excited group of people seeing cows up close. 99% literally stopped and take cows photos while doing the run! (The one that didn't probably were the top contenders and those, like me - forgot to bring gadgets to take photos with) xD

      Delete
    2. =_=|| why snap cows' photos? We have a lot of stray cows over here. They cross the road as if they paid the road tax - never bother to look left and right for incoming vehicles.

      Delete
    3. KL people susah to see cows woh. Not like in Perak! kakaka

  17. Why you and my wife have common traits when rushing off for a run or cycling event? She once forgot to bring her shoes to cycle and another incident was her helmet! So the hubby need to be on alert to check before depart the house. No issues after that.

  19. That type of fabric material on your shoes are tough to wash when stained with mud. I would soak them in soapy water with little clorox for a few hours. After that pijak pijak the kasut and basuh until putih melepak!!! Hmmmmmm! bau harum nya!
