King Of The Road? Heh

Not me!
That said, I enjoyed my Sunday run a LOT! Slow poke pace notwithstading. ^^

I started this run with the "this is just a Sunday LSD run" attitude. Wasn't looking for any great timing, although if I managed to get a sub-2 (1hour 59minutes and 59 second run is also a sub-2, wokay... wakaka) that would be an icing on the cake! I guess icing and cake isn't good for my diet, as no sub-2 for me today. heh heh
At the starting line.

Statistics of the day:
Number of time peeing before run : 5(!) And I only had a cup of ORS. Crazy gallblader.
Number of time for the "big business" : effort - twice, at home. Nada. Clearing bowel system at petrol station's loo : once. Saw somebody else's not properly flushed "business" in port-a-loo : once
Eewwww.... wakaka

7-Eleven staff made my day by wishing me best of luck for the run.^^

The starting line for 16.8K and 10K. 16.8K was flagged off at 6.45am (though my watch showed 6.47am. hihi)a and 7.15am for 10K category.

But you know, by the time I reached KM3, 10K elite runners had already making a U-turn and making their way back to Sunway Pyramid. @.@
Nicked from Runner Footprints FB page
And how do you feel when you see this sea of people in front of you. I saw this all through the run. I must be waaaaaaay behind. hu~

Anyhoo, I guessed since I kept telling myself that this is just another Sunday LSD run, my body reacted accordingly which meant my body wanted to make pit-stops. I had to fight the urge to pee (again!) from KM1. Guys are lucky. Saw quite a number of them making a detour after the tunnel to head to the nearest drain!

The water stations and portable loo were available every 3K which was great. I decided to give the first water station a miss due to massive congestion there but stopped at the KM6 water station. There were too many of us, and the volunteers helping out with the drinks can't cope with us. No problem. I just went looking for a clean cup myself and pour my own drinks. Poured for other runners too. I probably wasted a minute or two there but hey! It's not as if I'm running this for the win.

Wasted more minutes at KM9 drink station, drinking and stepping aside to douse myself with cold water. I wish there were sponges available. But cold water works too! I just had to be careful not to splash any on runners behind me.

Had to fight the urge to pee and keep telling myself to hold it. I finally stopped for a toilet visit at KM12. Aiyoh! Need to pee there also still need to queue! hahaha Wasted more time there, as just as I was about to do my business, the guy before me rapped the toilet door. He left his bib, which was attached to a bib belt behind. Seems like he was having a cherry-berry episode (that's codename for diarrohea, Rurousha) hence the reason he took it off.

Now, the problem with stopping for me is that my muscle seems to think I'm already resting. Toilet stop and the sitting made my brain whined and my muscle went into a strike. "Aren't we supposed to rest already?" They said in mutiny. wahaha

Not much drama for me. I was wuss enough to stop and walked-run from KM13 onwards. Even kay-poh enough to stop and walk towards the final kilometre. A guy collapsed and the medic team was giving CPR to him. Looked serious. I do so hope he's OK. :(

Plus kay-pohed again approaching one older lady who was getting help by a nice young man. She was struggling to finish the final 800m and the nice man walked with her to finish.

While pushing towards the finish line, heard Nick hollering my name. He finished the run long before I did and was taking photos. He arrived more than 30 minutes before I do! Hi Nick! ^^
 Just a little bit more!
I ask you - when else can you sit between the divider in the middle of an expressway without fear of being run over? Or being thought suicidal? hahaha
Just for fun - look how much stuff I can shove in my running skirt's pocket. I'm like Doraemon's aunt! wakaka I really need to eat that Powergel soon (the one in pink packet). I kept taking it to races and I never eat it!

This is what happen when you let runners loose on an expressway! I was tempted to take a shot of me lying down on the road, but I bet Zaini won't like it. Embarassed even! LOL
Whee! I did Adidas King of the Road and finished!
Update!
Can you spot me? ^^
Sure can in this photo, right? ;p

  8. I love the 200M TO GO photo! Can I have a desktop version? :D

Umm. So why do you need to pee so often? Is it because you drink water to prevent dehydration? I know running is a heck of a lot more work than walking, but I can walk for several hours without needing a loo (even if I drink water) [though I don't drink a lot while walking] {and if I do need to go, may the gods help you if you're in my way}.

PS: That sea of people? That's what it looks like at Sky Tree on a quiet-ish weekday morning. (+_+)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Crazy woman desktop version photo. You'd have nightmares! LOL

Pee + runners = inevitable. That's why portable loos are important. And you'd see long queues at loos before, during and after any run. Pre-race (post race) jitters, I suppose.

Zaini used to complain about it when I first started entering road races but now that he'd seen most runners do the same too, he's quiet about it. xD

A quiet Sky Tree crowd is similar to that? I'll just say hi to Sky Tree from afar then, I guess. o.O

      Delete
    2. Interesting. I would've guessed that running equals more sweat, therefore less urine.

All I know is this: I couldn't run with a full bladder! Eish!

I have an abnormally low crowd tolerance level, so perhaps you shouldn't pay too much attention to my opinion! ;)

      Delete
    3. There's a reason why long distance road races have portable toilet placed at certain stretches. Runners pee n poop while doing their run! :-D

      I can't run even with a half full bladder. It's too uncomfortable.O_O

I usually have low towards crowd too.=D

  15. I wonder could we just run and walk during the run? or you must always on the run to beat the time? If I walk 50% and run 50% .. do you think that I still be on time?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Can... you can walk all the way of you want to. xD

But of course, for races like Adidas King of the Road that has full road closure, they have strict cut-off limit to ensure runners' safety.

Most races in KL are pretty lenient about cut-off time. As long as you finish, they'll wait for you. ;p

Anyways, you mention on time? On time for what? Your target time?
