Saturday LSD

LSD : Long slow distance. A staple and a must for those training to enter half-marathons and full marathons. For us weekend warriors, we usually do it over the weekends. It's normal to wake up at ungodly hours on either a Saturday or Sunday (or any public holiday that falls on a weekday) so that a morning long run can be done and finished before it gets way too hot.

For me though, I'm too darn lazy to wake up at 4am nowadays. I was crazy enough to do it in 2012 but now? I go out a crazier hours. Imagine starting a long run at 8am and get completely fried by 10.00am! Hu~
Today's run. We started our run at 8.34am (yes, I can be precise) and I ended my run at 11.45am. Thank goodness it was cool and overcast the whole morning. Otherwise, I don't think I'd be able to complete this. I'm such a wuss. Heeee~
The route. I started at the foot of Taman Wawasan's hill with Zaini running alongside me, and we ran together all the way to Presint 4. He left me to continue on to Presint 3 while I do a few hill repeats before running up the Jambatan Seri Gemilang and then made a toilet stop at Taman Seri Empangan. A drama was being filmed there by the way. Dunno what since I rarely watched Malay drama.

From Taman Seri Empangan, I continued on to Pullman then up PICC and then back to Jambatan Seri Gemilang and ran on a straight path all the way to Masjid Putra. Double back and ran to Umai Cafe for a water refill break before finishing my run where Zaini was waiting for me - under Jambatan Putra. Saw another shooting near Umai Cafe. Putrajaya is sure buzzing with shoots today. ^^

Had initially thought of doing more than this 22km but then, it was almost lunch hour. Pity Son & Hubby also lah...
Lunch was these. Ikan bakar and for me, to replenish the sodium lost due to all the sweating : cencaluk! Salty. Very salty. hur hur
My reward for any run done that exceeds 1 and half hour : a malta drink. Nyummzz

Now : laundry time!

How's your weekend so far? :-)

And oh! Before I forgot. There's an interesting event in May. A relay event called Pisang Relay. Instead of holding a baton, you run holding bananas. And no, you cannot eat the pisang while you run. You'll be disqualified. Who's joining?

Comments

  1. Hello Weekend Warrior! I try not to laugh..... imagining you holding a pisang as you run.

Though, a great way to train how not to be to tensed up while running. We are not supposed to grip our fist while running. :)

Though knowing you and what you do with fruit, I dread to think what you're going to get up to with that banana. Please don't tell the Cucumber Cleric.

You ran non-stop for three hours this morning? Gaaa. (@_@)

  13. pisang relay?? who the hell came out with this idea?? i am afraid when the runners get too kan cheong during the run, they will ramas ramas the bananas, either get it mashed in their hands, or the force makes the banana to sembur out of the skin, and the winner just brings back the banana skin at the finishing line.. like that disqualified also??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. that's why your hand-job must be good. wakaka

Handle with care. Raba raba only. Cannot ramas. Must be gentle. ;p

Btw, luv the overcast weather last Sat, drizzling a lil bit around Bangi - Serdang. Awesome for outdoor activities like hiking too..

Wahh... antoo cencaluk and petai rupanya kak lina nih... sayangi makanan warisan turun temurun kita... ngeri nak makan cencaluk, udang2 geragau tuh looks alive n had these creepy eyes... @..@ yet super salty... goshhh.... =D

  20. Hi Lina! :)

Wow.. good job on your run! Nasib the weather was accomodating, I tak sanggup run kalau dah naik matahari. LOL!

Reading this reminds me of getting back on the running wagon. I put it off from April last year when I found out I was preggers, sbb hubby tak bagi. Although my doc said okay as long as I didn't over exert myself. Now, I feel like starting again soon. But le bambino is still barely 2 mths. Dah boleh lari, time pulak takde.

Anyways, that food looks really good. Oh I love cencaluk. Haven't had that in a while. YUMMMERSSS!

The Pisang Relay sounds really cute though.. Feel like nak join! IF I can ever find the time. -_-" Just thinking about it is exhausting. hahahaha

These days, I memang start lari pukul 8.00am and usually habis pukul 10-10.30. Itu just 15-16K jelah...

Kalau hari tu panas, mau nak nangis nak habiskan that 22K but the show must go on. Lari saja. Sapa suruh bangun lambat. Wakaka

Take it easy dearie. Tak lari finishing line dikejar. Kekeke

Kot letak treadmill satu kat rumah senang sikit nak cilok masa lari, kot? ;p

Pisang relay - fun fun run sajer.... no timing no pressure. Tu yang best. I'm gonna enter with hubby and son. Just run for the heck of it and the plus : nanti everybody gets a medal. An incentive for Son.

Hari tu dia dapat a limited medal at World Diabetes Walkathon, happy gila dia. :)

Anyways, take care. Give baby a kiss from Auntie Lina! ^^
