Build Your World

with Lego. Let your imagination run free and build! :-)

There's this event at Bangsar Village II during the school holiday; which was on May 28th to June 9th, called "Build Your World" by Lego where children from the age 6 and above can enter for free. There are two categories. 6 y.o. to 12 y.o. and above 12y.o. Great, right?
Children were allowed 45minutes to build something and submit their work. Even if your kids' work didn't win, it's great event to just let kids play around building stuff with Lego, competition or no competition. Free some more!

Anyway, the most impressive designs will have their models displayed Legoland Malaysia for a week some time in Aug. How cool is that!

The grand prize winner of this Malaysian leg (Build Your World Competition is the biggest building competition of its kind in the Asian region, including Thailand, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Philippines and err... South Africa) gets to go to Legoland in Johor and get VVIP treatment.  Nice hor?

Raimie really wanted to join so on the last weekday of the school holiday, he got to go and build his "world"

The boy was adamant in doing it himself although a few other kids had their parents help.
May not be much of a creation to the uncles and aunties out there... but Mommy and Daddy (and himself) are super proud of his creation. The important thing is not win or lose, but doing the best he can, himself and be totally proud of the fact. That he tried. That he gained experience. That he had fun.

School holiday is officially over now. Proud to say, mall trawling wasn't an activityin our list  during the school holiday. Yes, we went to the mall but because of 1. this Lego competition 2. Mommy works nearby a mall. 3. Need to buy groceries. ;)

We didn't spend that much time going from one end of a mall to the other end this school holiday.

Would've been great if there were more outdoor activities involved this time but next maybe during the school holiday, yeah?

Just let loose and play one. Play also must be spoon fed? o.O

  13. I try to avoid what I call the "mall culture" too. There are lots of great activities for children that don't involve the mall. It just takes a little effort these days. Can't completely avoid the mall though because we live across one hahaha

On the other hand, my son is good in bricks. He likes to build cars, trains and buses.

Must go there again with son. He'd be happy just to see it on display.

  22. Also think that the important thing is that he made it himself :)

The competition is supposed to foster creativity and fun among children and there's not much fun watching someone do something for you. I saw a boy whose mummy literally made him run up and down for bricks while she made the model and everytime he asked her if he could have a go she would snap and respond like "do you want grand prize or not!" I thought that was so inappropriate and the boy looked positively miserable!

    1. I'm glad somebody agrees with me.

Judging from what was seen, not too many parents cared about that little detail and proceeded to do the assembling themselves.

I guess winning is more important than teaching good values and strong principles. :(
