On The First Day of September

An epic journey will be embarked by a dear someone.

His first full marathon. Almost a year after he did his first half-marathon.

He did his final LSD with a 20K run. His longest run this year. It is under-training to do a full marathon but I have faith in him. For one, I do know that he can walk (if not run) for hours. I've been dragged along by him when we were on vacation for hours and hours before. From 7am till 7pm and he's still OK to continue on! @.@

Anyway, he planned to walk if he can't run. No matter what people will say, I think it is a sensible plan for him. We've checked his walking pace and his brisk walk is around 9-10min pace. Not bad, what.

His total mileage last week (run+walk) was almost 70K and that's more than what I used to do training for Malaysia Women Marathon!

We went to The Marathon Shop after our morning walk to pick up my race kit and also a friend's.
The race kit, runner's guide (I read them. Do you? ^^), two discount vouchers and a postcard! Bought two GU Chomps (I miss Stinger gel!) and a Hammer solids.

We discussed about hubby's need of gel/chews intake for the marathon and based on my own experience and his; he'll probably just take along a gel and a packet of Chomps on top of stopping at all the water stations during the run. I survived on half a packet of Stinger Gel on April. ^^
Noticed this counter after collecting our race kits. A registration counter for runners' cheer crew! Cool!

Cooler that registered cheer crews receive that VW board to write motivational signs for the runners, they will also receive a cap and a tee on race day!

Me likey!
Plus a toy too (twist helicopter thingy). I already know what to write on my board but it's a secret! Hehehe

It's just a week to River Jungle Marathon 2013! All the best to all running in it.

All the best to those running tomorrow at Borneo International Marathon too!

Enjoy!

    2. If you were on Google+, you'd know the story. I recently wrote about it. Nudge nudge hint hint. Very nice running circles/communities on Google+.

Here's the story of the commercial:

When the Kyūshū shinkansen was launched, JR and their ad agency Dentsu made this ad by simply inviting people to wave to the train as it passed through their neighbourhood for the first time. The overwhelming response was recorded by a camera mounted on the train's roof.

The ad was supposed to flight in March 2011, but JR decided it wouldn't be suitable in the wake of the tsunami. It was discovered on YouTube, nonetheless, where it went viral. The sheer joy of the ad was just what Japan needed in that bleak period. JR relented and released it.

  6. Uh-oh.

ZAINI!!! ZAINI, not Raimie! Well, Raimie will also have to go go go to support his dad.

Sorry, Zaini. I'm rather fond of the young man I've never even met, so I tend to be a bit one-track-minded. :D

  9. I always like to look at those goodies bag given out for sports events. Good and useful items!

Long ago they usually contained nonsense in the pariah plastic bags! I remember there was a walkathon and the newspaper company who co-sponsored even put newspapers inside. Adoi!!!!

    1. I actually dont really care about the goodies bag. I mean, its nice to get them but I rather have a cheaper race fees with properly organised refreshment and amenities for runners instead. + lots of Milo & isotonic at the finish line. LOL

  10. that's really something exciting to look forward to huh?? his first ever marathon, in just less than a week's time!! so which category are you running in that day??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There's only 1 category in River Jungle Marathon. You have to complete 42.195 (more or less) if you join it. ;-)

I'm not running. I haven't been running so to do 42km now is rather a foolhardy thing to do.

  11. hey, i really love that registration for cheers crew, and that VW board!! it's fun really, writing messages on that board to motivate the runners!! instead a great move from the organizer!!

    1. Indeed! They are acknowledging the existence of cheerers (who are not part of the official volunteer crews) coming to support their friends& family.

      Love it! :-)

  12. hahaha, must be something cheeky that you were having in mind on what to write on that board?? "JAMBAN is at 1km ahead".. and you are going to appear at every 1km to show this, surely will "motivate" the runners to run faster huh?? :D

  13. Thanks again for picking up my racekit Lina.
Nadza pegi GNC semalam but they don't carry HammerNutrition...and I really don't know what other products that can substitute Solids. Sebab I pun tak pernah ambik Solids huhuuu
I just read Arman's race report on BIM. I am starting to feel jittery.
All the best to Zaini!! I have never trained with a 70km/week mileage. Tabik kat dia!

Chomps camner for you? For me, other than the rasa kelat kat lidah... It's good. Senang nk makan compared to gels.

Solid tu nak mkn sambil lari, jenuh sikit. I sbb dah biasa plus solid leh buat perut kemyang. Hahaha

All thebest to you on Sunday. You can rock it! :-)
