PBIM Running Clinic

The third session of Penang Bridge International Marathon running clinic was held in Kuala Lumpur. At Taman Bukit Jalil to be exact, on Sunday Sep 22nd.

I signed Zaini and myself up for the running clinic as we will head to Penang for me to run in the Penang International Marathon for the second time this year. I did a half-marathon last year, running through an injury. I sure hope that I'll be injury free and run without much drama this year!
Believe in oneself. Don't doubt yourself. Don't let others put you down. Who cares whether we are fat, thin, fast, slow, young or old. The main thing is we DO IT!

Last year was rather special. It as the first time I bumped into Millie. Plus bumped into Nannoor too, while we were running on the bridge. ^^
Couldn't agree more with this.

The session was designed and handled by experienced runners Karen, Lorna, Jeff and Richard.
The clinic covered :
1) Topics on dynamic stretches, static stretches, their importance and how to apply it.

2) Pacing. There will also be running exercises for an hour (each group at a different pace).

3) Hill Repeats/Intervals.
We first did a few loops around the park. Ironman Richard led the 5min pace group. Jeff led the 6min pace group and Karen led the 7min pace group.

After an hour, then it's time to do speedwork & hill repeats.  FUN! hahaha

I chickened out and did half of the repeats. *malu*

But as my heels is still hurting, I wasn't keen on pushing more than I should. Especially not when a big race (SCKLM) is coming next week! I haven't been training as much as I'd like to, so I just plan to jog all the 21km to finish. Plus finish before my son finish (hopefully before he starts) his 2.5km Kids' Dash.

The next running clinic session will be in Ipoh on Oct 5th. It will be back in Taman Bukit Jalil on Oct 13th. Put it in your schedule. It's a good clinic and not to be missed!

See you in Penang come Nov 17th!

I'll be the jogathoner aiming to finish in 6 hours. ^^

  5. I like this Mak Glam's motto:
"Believe in oneself. Don't doubt yourself. Don't let others put you down. Who cares whether we are fat, thin, fast, slow, young or old. The main thing is we DO IT! "

I always tell others this phrase.

  6. Shame on me I never ran across the Penang Bridge all my life. Actually I am always scared of huge races where parking will become a mess. Luckily this Stan Chart is so well planned to suggest taking trains.

    1. Last year no train but they provided shuttle buses.

Same goes to Penang Bridge Marathon, Anay. There are free shuttle buses for runners. Both to go & return. A lot and in frequent intervals too, so no worries. :-)
