Putrajaya Walk

I ran in the Energy Efficiency Run  in Putrajaya on Saturday morning. It was a great start for the weekend.

Later in the evening, we head back to Putrajaya. This time, to keypoh-keypoh at the MKH Putrajaya 12 Hour Walk, gather for a monthly night run group, meet fellow running friends and enjoyed some fresh night air too.
The pavement of Presint 3 Putrajaya, from Wisma Tani to Palace of Justice turned into a tent village on Saturday night. Tents were put up by the 12 hour walk participants and supporters. After all, you don't need to walk the full 12 hours. You need to take a rest in between too. The event started at 8pm on Saturday and finished at 8am the next day.
Many participants seemed to go all out with their walk during the first hour or so, but most turned into zombies by 3am! LOL
Ejah, fellow #Krazirunners.

Me & another lady runner (who did 20-30K run that night! @.@ How awesome is that too, right?) went to "disturb" Ejah while she was taking a break in between her walk.

Congrats Ejah for completing 46km at the Walk! Ohsem lady, with legs of steel. She's absolutely cute but man, she's tough. :-)
We "lepak"ed at PACat Adventure Team station. The team had so many stuff for those doing their night run, the walkers and also those who dropped by. Generous. It was like a picnic. To Zul, Zinov & Arman, THANK YOU! Sorry kitaorang datang bawak perut je malam ni. ;-)
The Ultra Kakis came and "tengok wayang" instead. LOL

Some had finished their long, night run and was relaxing & supporting friends who joined the 12 hour walk.  You'd normally see those people seated in a row at an endurance run rather than see them watching people so this is a rare sight? Hihihi
Late night watching. "Hardcore supporters" still watching walkers doing their 1K loops at 2am in the morning.

Heckled, joked, clapped, supported to familiar faces doing the walk. hehehe
We weren't there just to watch people walk. We had our own walking session too. Just easy paced walk though and did 3 loops from Palace of Justice to Putra Bridge, turned and looped back, walked to Presint 4 and returned to Palace of Justice.

We walked 18K in 3 hours 25minutes with 2 "makan/minum/check son" stops after finishing each loops. Pale in comparison of what the walkers at the Putrajaya 12 hour walk did.

Anyway, by midnight, with the Mat Rempits on bikes and groups of cars zooming around at Presint 2, it was a tad errrm... scary to walk so it was good to stop our own walk by 1am.

We didn't stay long and went home at around 3.30am. Respect to those who did the Putrajaya 12 Hour Walk and also much respect to those who waited to support their families and friends doing the event.

Wonder whether we'll be crazy enough to consider this walk event next year? Ngeeee...

    1. Yes, they are! If you remember from my previous posts, they organised runs at very low feed too.

There were a few independent stations like this that night. Running clubs put it up to support their members. But most were generous to others too. :-)

  12. The idea of camping in the city is really fun. But I'm worried about the safety. However, surely you guys don't think that's a problem right? Since you guys were many.

Anyway, this look like an interesting activity. In fact I said earlier...AWESOME!

    Have a nice day Lina.

    1. This is an organised event, Willie. It's not a camping night-out. The organiser had informed all participants that they are allowed to put up tents for their comfort around the event boundaries. There are Marshalls, volunteers and police at any race events. That's standard.

However, go outside the boundaries, then the participants are at their own risk.

    5. If you trained & paced yourself during the walk, sure. Gotta be careful though... 12 hrs may be too much for our legs. That's why I haven't done this yet :-P
