Breakfast With Love, With F&N Seasons NutriSoy

I admit I don't usually cook breakfast. If I prepare breakfasts, it's usually just something simple like baked beans with eggs, sausages or toast with kaya/peanut butter/jam spread or occassionaly just something very easy as cereal. On weekdays, my Son would normally just have a piece of bread for breakfast.

On weekends, we'd usually we eat out for convenience and that means teh tarik, coffee, roti canai, thosai... not exactly the healthiest breakfast there is.

So what if we wanted to opt for something healthier yet fast and simple to make?

That's where the F&N Seasons NutriSoy Breakfast With Love Campaign comes in.
Do you know that although soy products are not a rich source of calcium, they can help reduce the risk of osteoporosis? Soy products such as tofu, tempeh and soy milk are very rich in protein and is the only plant source of complete protein.

In countries with high soy intake the rates of cardiovascular diseases is relatively low. Several studies have indicated that a regular intake of soy foods may help to prevent hormone related cancers such as breast cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer.

With that in mind, I was superstoked to learn about serving a healthy breakfast with the help of F&N Seasons NutriSoy.

After all, we do love soy products in this family. Drink soy milk, eat tofu (and taufufa), tempeh and all sorts of soy products too. Heck, we even love natto! Asian mah. ^^
I learnt a few recipes that is surprisingly easy and not time consuming and absolutely heavenly for my family to enjoy when I attended the F&N Seasons NutriSoy Breakfast Love Campaign cooking demo last Saturday, which was held at The Cooking House in Desa Sri Hartamas.
A healthy start of the day can simply be a glass of F&N Seasons NutriSoy with a healthy breakfast. Cereal. Muesli. Fruits.

F&N Seasons NutriSoy is made using whole soy beans and from the highest grade of non-genetically modified soya beans and uses no preservatives, flavouring or colourings to bring consumers natural quality goodness. It's a good source of protein andit's lactose free. Oh! Don't forget, soy protein can help reduce cholesterol! Super food!

Or we can take it up a notch and cook our breakfast with F&N Seasons NutriSoy.
With several Mommy bloggers and under the guidance of Chef Kenneth Kam, we learn how to make absolutely scrumptious healthy yet easy breakfast.

Here's two simple recipes that we learnt on Saturday. I'll share the rest later.

Homemade F&N Seasons NutriSoy Pancake with bananas and toasted almonds
Ingredients
2 cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
2tbsp baking powder
2 tbsp salt
1 cup grape seed oil
2 cups F&N Seasons NutriSoy
2 tbsp vanilla essence
3 bananas, sliced
1/2 cup almond flakes or slivers, toasted
Maple syrup

Method
  1.  In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt
  2. In another bowl, whisk together grape seed oil, NutriSoy and vanilla essence until the mixture is relatively smooth
  3. Pour the flour mixture into the F&N Seasons NutriSoy mixture slowly
  4. Heat an ungreased, non-stick frying pan over a medium-high heat
  5. Pour 1/3 cup of batter in the centre of the pan. Cook until the edges start to look dry and visible air bubbles have just started to form near the centre of the pancake
  6. Flip and cook the other side until golden
  7. Remove from frying pan and place on a serving plate
  8. Repeat until the remaining batter is used up
  9. Serve hot, with sliced bananas, toasted almonds and maple syrup.

Best left the batter chilled for at least half an hour before making the pancakes. The batter can be kept chilled overnight too.

Wholemeal Breakfast Wrap With Mixed Greens And Grilled Chicken
Ingredients
2 pcs chicken breast
Pinch of salt
Pinch of pepper
1/2 tbsp Lea & Perrins sauce
1/2 pkt mixed leaves salad
4 pcs wholemeal tortilla

Dressing
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp cooking oil
Pinch of salt
Pinch of black pepper

Method
  1. Marinate chicken breast with salt, pepper and Lea & Perrins sauce. Can add zest of lemon too, if you want
  2. Place chicken on a grill pan and grill until both sides are just cooked through, around 6-8 minutes on each side. Let rest and cut into strips
  3.  For the dressing, mix together all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until emulsify
  4. Toast the tortilla and lay a piece on a clean plate. Spread 1 tsbp of the dressing on the lower third of the tortilla. Lay 1/4 of the chicken breast slices over, followed by mixed leaves salad. Drixxle more dressing over and roll up. Continue with the remaining tortillas. Serve immediately.

Can't help myself enjoying the food after it was cooked!

Love the grilled chicken!
We baked some muffins and they were equally awesome too!

And oh, drank so much F&N Seasons NutriSoy too until I was full! Bwahaha

I'm going to try the other recipes at home later and post up the recipe. Very domesticated of me, eh? ^^

Can't wait to try.

Now, Son is enjoying his F&N Seasons NutriSoy drinks that we brought back after the demo:

  9. you don't usually cook breakfast, or you rarely cook breakfast?? there's a difference here.. hahaha!! but true also, for a working mommy it's quite tough, because everyone sleeps till the very last minute and then rush to school or work everyday.. left the chances of cooking breakfast only on weekends, and of course sometimes would be so much easier to just eat out - aiyoh, eh tarik, coffee, roti canai, thosai, nasi lemak etc macam macam ada!!
