PRESS RELEASE : ROAD CLOSURE FOR STANDARD CHARTERED KL MARATHON 2014’S NEW ROUTE

-       Free one way LRT service compliments of the organiser, Dirigo Events Sdn Bhd, from 3.00am-6.00am on Race Day, Oct 12, 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7, 2014: Thirty five roads in Kuala Lumpur will be closed in phases from Oct 10 to make way for the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2014.

The affected roads will include:
The Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police and event owner and organiser, Dirigo Events Sdn. Bhd., recommend the public use alternative routes or public transportation when travelling to the city centre.

Free one way LRT service will be available from 3.00am to 6.00am to facilitate participants entering the city, courtesy of Dirigo Events, after which normal operations and standard charges will apply.

Alternative routes to city centre : 

Jalan Sultan Ismail will be closed from 4.00am to 10.00am. The public who wish to access Bukit Bintang, KLCC and Kampung Baru areas can do so via Jalan Tun Razak. Jalan Loke Yew acts as the alternative route to reach Jalan Hang Tuah and Bukit Bintang for vehicles travelling there from the south of the city.

Some 300 traffic policemen and 100 Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officers from the enforcement department will be deployed to control traffic in an effort to ensure a smooth sailing Marathon for everyone.

Public transportation – available options :

In anticipation of 35,200 participants and more than 3,000 personnel involved in managing the marathon, the Ampang and Kelana Jaya LRT lines will be operating from 3.00am. Trains will run at 10 minute intervals. The closest LRT stations to the Starting Point would be the Bandaraya Station (Ampang line) and the Masjid Jamek Interchange (Kelana Jaya line).

The organisers recommend that all runners use the MyRapid cards to avoid long queues and enable easier access to public transportation services. MyRapid cards are available for purchase at the Standard Chartered KL Marathon Race Entry Pack Collection Expo. Please locate the station closest to your area and plan your journey ahead of time.       It's big in HK, Bangkok too. Even Brunei & Jakarta. :)

      Easiest way - avoid going into KL using vehicles. LRT/Komuter can.
