Strawberries Galore At Abang Strawberry, Cameron Highlands

Last weekend we went to Cameron Highlands for Cameron Night Run. The run was presented by Abang Strawberry and they had generously provided strawberries goodies to all runners participating in the run. We were given not only fresh strawberries (with chocolate dip) in our race kit, but also strawberry jam and strawberry sambal.
It was already 4 pm when we had settled our race kit collection and checking in to Century Pines Resort Hotel so we decided to have lunch at Abang Strawberry cafe called 200 Seeds Cafe.
It's less than a mile from our hotel so we decided to walk there.
The cafe was abuzz with diners and there was even a Majalah 3 camera crew getting ready to do their shooting at the cafe! They do have a rather extensive menu but of course la we decided to have their Nasi Lemak Sambal Strawberry with Rendang Daging.

We do have to queue at the cashier to make our order so I wasn't sure why there's a 10% service charge because it's not really a full service cafe.

The Coldest Night Run In Malaysia Is Back With CamRun 2020!

A week after my cold, rainy run in Kumamoto, we head up to Cameron Highlands for another cold weather run.
Back for another year,  Camrun is a night run experience at Cameron Highlands. It is not just a race, it's more about enjoying the cold night of illuminating lights with friends and family as witnessed by the crowd at the REPC and race venue.

Cameron Highlands is a great destination for a family holiday and a run there with the family is indeed a nice addition to the family vacation.

We managed to get a room at Century Pines Resort, the event's official hotel with their promo rate of RM258 nett per night. REPC was held at the hotel and the starting line was mere minutes away so it was very convenient to stay there.

One problem though, the room was so nice and comfy, I began to wonder why I should run in the middle of the night instead of just enjoying the soft, comfy bed. LOL

Back to the race.

The race offered three distances - 5K Fun Run, 10K and 21K.

The 5K Fun Run ca…

Inaugural Pacer Assessment Trials Raises The Bar For KLSCM 2020 Pacer Team

Have you ever used the services of a Pacer in a distance running event? Was it because you wanted to finish at a certain time or because you needed the encouragement, motivation and advice that an experienced Pacer could provide? Those are usually the main reasons why runners decide to follow a Pacer during an event but collectively, the Pacing team of a particular event play a significant role in getting as many runners as possible to achieve their finishing time goals. Pacers also perform an unofficial role as ambassadors and advocates of the event.
The Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) began its Pacer programme in 2010 with the intention of raising the quality of the event, and it has grown to become a crucial ingredient of KLSCM ever since. Becoming a Pacer for the premier distance running event in Malaysia is a serious responsibility so this year, Dirigo Events, the owner and organizer of KLSCM, decided to invite and conduct open trials for all those harbouring as…

Kumamoto Castle Marathon – A Chilly Run With The Warmest Support

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. When I registered for Kumamoto Castle Marathon’s ballot back in September last year, I had hoped that I will have enough time to train for my 17th Full Marathon. This is despite the fact that I hadn’t been logging much training mileage or even entered that many races since Nagoya Women’s Marathon back in March 2019.
My intention was to start training for the marathon after getting my slot in early October. One thing leads to the other and things didn’t go as planned. My monthly mileage for October, November and December were 71km, 70km and 106km respectively.
Late in December, with less than two months left for the marathon, I felt that it was more prudent for me to DNS the race. This is especially so after poring the 8 checkpoints (CP) cut-off-times (COT).
But I still had a few races slotted in January and I wanted to see whether I could survive those races and finish them in a respectable timing despite my lack of training mileage (and an…

Back To Run For A Reason (RFAR) At KL Standard Chartered Marathon 2020

I'll be back running in KL Standard Chartered Marathon this year and just like in previous years, I'll be running for charity again.
This year, I'm going to do a half marathon again and it should be my 50th HM (if I don't register to any more half marathons before June 2020 that is).
For 2020, I'm running for Teach for Malaysia which is an independent, not-for-profit organisation on a mission to give all children in Malaysia the opportunity to attain an excellent education.

Teach For Malaysia mobilizes a movement of leaders to empower our nation through education by:
recruiting and placing TFM Fellows into classrooms as public school teachers to impact students;empowering students to lead themselves and others, to become the seeds of change within their communities, and finally;partnering with the Ministry of Education to transform education outcomes in underprivileged communities across Malaysia.  If you would like to donate, you can do so here: Marlina Running f…
