Going Korean For Father's Day

Father's Day for 2017 fell during the Ramadan month so it was dinner celebration for us.
We drove over to Cyberjaya but instead of going to Arab Restaurants there like we usually do, if we go to the area; we went there to eat Korean food.
To Ko Hyang to be exact. We're more familiar with the one in Gardens Mall, KL but i was our first time eating out at the outlet in Cyberjaya.
It's a proper restaurant and located at Shaftbury Square (do google up the place yourself. This is an unpaid post. Muahahah) Instead of calling the restaurant to reserve a table, I simply book our table through "Book a table" on their FB page.
Mighty handy. I received both an email alert and also SMS reminder after making my booking, complete with my booking reference number. It alerted me about my reservation too.
Anyways, we pretty much had the usual thing which we enjoyed... Hubby ordered the O Jing Eo Bokkem (stir fried squid set).
Son had the Bulgogi bokkem (stir fried marinated beef…

Press Release: IOI City Mall Celebrated Muhammad Al-Fateh Home Children for Iftar

Putrajaya- In celebration of Syawal, we seize every opportunity to be extra charitable, especially to those in need and more so to the children. This annual tradition has been arranged as a part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and mall’s effort to reach out to the less privileged as well as in giving back to the community.
IOI City Mall continues to enliven the spirit and reap the barakah of Ramadan this year by organising a special iftar or buka puasa (breaking of fast) by inviting 26 children from Muhammad Al-Fateh Home. The children, ranging in age from 7-18 years, were also accompanied by their 5 guardians during the dinner.

The event started off with a complimentary “Despicable Me 3” movie session fully sponsored by Golden Screen Cinema (GSC) along with a prayer break after the movie.

The kids were then treated with a shopping spree at LOL whereby they were given a chance to shop for new clothes to adorn on Hari Raya which aimed to make these kids feel special and s…

The meet up/buka puasa session was held at Hotel Stripes, Kuala Lumpur and I really, really love the place. (well, from what I'v…

Reasons To Visit My Hometown, Raub (Hint: Run There)

You should come and visit my hometown, Raub.
It's not that far from KL, it's about 1.5 to 2 hours drive (depending on how fast you drive and how Karak highway is).

It's only about 110km only, which for some runners I know, is a completely a runnable distance. Hey! Route 68 84km already brought you 3/4 way to Raub! You run farther down a bit, you get to stop at Kow Pow ice cream shop in Bentong town. Run farther down lagi, you'll see Lemang To'Ki (OK, actually got two outlets that I know of) and plenty of durian and nangka madu stalls. Run some more and you arrive to Raub dy!

You can make a detour and use the jalan lama to Sang Lee and stop by a number of resorts/glamping places there or simply test your skill at the winding route (with gaung next to the road for added thrill). Welcome to Raub!
For nature lovers, there are plenty of attractions here.  My personal favourite is the lata or waterfalls. There are Lata Lembik, Lata Jarum, Pulau Chekas, Lata Berembun and…

Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri

تقبل الله مناومنكم  Taqabalallahu minna wa minkum.

May the day delight and the moments provide joy for all of you to treasure.
And may the year ahead be fruitful, for your home and family and especially for you.

From all of us.

Come Home To Good Food At Dave's Deli

Disclaimer : made my trip to Dave's Deli a few days before puasa month started and blogging about it only now. Hahaha So Dave's Deli has this 30% off promo for the main meals on weekdays which is really, really damn (oh shoot, better don't swear when fasting) good value.
Plenty of selection to choose from and with generous portion too.
Taste wise - might not be so great but with the price I paid (after the 30% discount), I sure ain't gonna complain much. I had the lamb chop. And after the discount, it cost me less than RM18.00!

Good value, man.

Quite like the mashed potatos too.
With a cup of cappuccino, I also enjoyed this massive slice of apple pie served with custard sauce and ice cream.
Indeed a fulfilling lunch.

Ramadan Blessings

We are almost at the tailend of Ramadan and is at the last stretch of this holy month of fasting and  focusing on our deeds.
I always feel sad when Ramadan is ending although I have to admit, Syawal is a joyous occasion. It's a time to be charitable too, and we ourselves were at the receiving end of kind folks when our car's battery went dead last Friday.
I have to say, syukur for kind friends and syukur I am able to almost complete the whole of Ramadan.
Plenty of people are already on leave tomorrow as schools are closed for the Hari Raya holiday starting from tomorrow. To those who are travelling to their hometown, safe travel.
Selamat menyambut Hari Raya Aidilfitri.  Maaf Zahir dan Batin.

There are plenty of reasons to get excited about and join the run. Be it for new runners looking to upgrade from 5K or 10K races and also for seasoned runners.

One - the event tee sure looks great and classy. Saucony is the apparel sponsor so I'm certainly looking forward on getting this tee!

Two - the venue will be at Lot 10 and I heard that the route is a somewhat new route for us runners. Yeay!

Three - great post-run activities promised.

All I want is leng chais in suits at the finish…

A Night At Tan'Yaa Hotel, Cyberjaya

We had a voucher for a night stay at Tan'yaa hotel and we needed to redeem it before July 13th so we decided to go there last weekend.

Just go and enjoy a night sleeping in a hotel bed also quite nice la. Free summore. Haha
Very, very spacious room with a huge living room.

But no bathtub...
At 4.00am, a staff came with this plastic bag from Uncle K, a nearby kopitiam.
It's our sahur (included in the room breakfast package).

Instead of going down for sahur, they delivered our packed sahur to our room and we made our selection when we checked-in earlier.

OK la... For a free room. Hihihi

Sahur At McDonald's - d'Grand Platter

Twice this Ramadan month, we had our sahur at McD. Just for the fun of it and for me to get my caffeine fix at McCafe because I do like their coffees. It's affordable and quite nice too.
Anyhoo, we tried their d'Grand Platter which is essentially a jacked up version of Big Breakfast.  So seriously, nothing fancy la. I can cook it better at home buttttt since I wanna drink coffee and latte is included in the set of RM15, we ordered it anyway.
Talk about being  easy to con. LOL
But OK la. Got McMuffin, got eggs (sunny side up or scrambled), mushrooms, cold cut, hash browns, patty, and also baked beans along with latte.
Go makan at Plan B, it's triple that price (altho nicer la)...
First time we ordered it, it was at McD Bandar Baru Bangi. The staff probably was still groggy, and we ordered the set, he asked what we wanted for drinks. Replied latte (of course la, and Hubby even showed the menu to the fella), he punched in tea. Adui. Hahaha
Lucky the manager sorted it afterwa…

Putrajaya – In the midst of all festivities, the best part about celebrating Hari Raya is the renewing of familial ties and bonds. The true essence of the festivity is to spend quality time with loved ones and ultimately what truly makes the busyness of the season so meaningful.

And this year, to usher in the festive season, IOI City Mall has a line-up of interesting events revolving around this year’s theme of “Moleknyo Rayo Bersamo” happening from May 26th to June
27th 2017.

Standing tall and striking at the Lower Ground Centre Court of the mall are twinkling coconut trees functioned as windmills complement the astounding Kelantan inspired kampung houses perfectly, setting the scene for a traditional atmosphere and bringing to the fore the spirit of  togetherness.

Other than the traditional and vibrant decorations set to wow shoppers, there are dazzling of Ramadan bazaar booths on both sides which offers shoppers with traditional souvenirs, assorted delights and Raya fashion wear.

Miyagi - Before The Start of Fasting Month

This dinner at our favourite Japanese restaurant happened almost a month ago!
Can't exactly remember what the occasion was but I think we didn't have any excuse to go eat there. Just make sure we have surplus money to splurge only. Hihihi
Anyhoo, eating at Miyagi is always good value even after they slightly increase their price currently.  Son had the teppan beef set.  I had the salmon teriyaki set because I was hankering for salmon.

Aaaahhh now I remember! We went there because I wanted to eat salmon lah! Hahaha
And Hubby had the chicken katsu curry set
The appetizer that came with my set. I absolutely love this simmered fish dish. Nyum nyum.
Three sets and it was only for RM116.00.
Nowadays, the restaurant is more popular than it was years ago when we first step in to the place so if we were late, we had to be prepared to see a full house and eat elsewhere. Good for the business but not good for us lah. Huhuhu
And because business is good, quite hard to get our green tea refilled n…

Affordable Ramadan Buffet Part III : D'Saji Kajang Perdana Avenue

After enjoying Nasi Arab (Arab cuisine) buffet at Safaa Restaurant for only RM29.90 and then a steamboat/grill buffet at MAEPS Bistro for RM45.90, we tried D'Saji Kajang Avenue Perdana last weekend.
It was a treat and a gathering for my siblings (alas, two families couldn't make it) but it was still a hoot. Grabbed this promo at 11Street which is a pretty darn good deal for RM39/pax/adult.
Original price was at RM64.00, D'Saji does slashed the price and advertise it at RM49+ but of course 11street promo price was the best! Only RM39 net!
Kids above 4 is RM29+ and infants and those below 4 is charged RM10+ They serve kambing golek!
I was a tad skeptical about the place but friends assured me that they do serve rather good food there (though friends went there for weddings la, D'Saji Kajang Perdana Avenue being a wedding hall and all). I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised.
Plenty of food station - ranging from traditional fares such as Patin tempoyak (but they didn…

Affordable Ramadan Buffet Part II - MAEPS Bistro

The thing about buka puasa/Ramadan buffet is not really for the fact that I can gorge myself silly there but rather, it is a convenient option especially when going out with a big group.
I still balk about having paying through the nose at exorbitant rates charged by hotels and certain restaurants but thank goodness there are still affordable and more reasonable (masuk akal) prices and option out there.
Last week we tried Safaa Restaurant buffet which offers Arabic cuisine.
This week, we went to MAEPS Bistro for a steamboat/grill fare with Ten Senses/Running Project people. There were about 17 of us so this was a good deal and option.
MAEPS Bistro has a huge space and as we were there during a weekday, it wasn't really a full house but the crowd was still respectable.
There were rice/noodle section with traditional lauk pauk, desserts station, kids' station (serving spaghetti, nuggets, sausages and fries), nasi ayam station, of course there were the steamboat/grill stations (…

It's Supposed To Be Hard

It has been two weeks since Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2017. Two weeks since I last ran 42K. Two weeks since I ran at all…
Instead of post-run euphoria, I am back to do a bit of soul searching. Post-mortem. Talked to my GP again. Looked at my fuelling plan. Looked at my trainings (or lack thereof).
Running 42K or a full marathon is not easy. It is supposed to be hard. Knowing that it is hard for me means that knowing to respect the distance. Not fear it but to give it its proper recognition.
It is the trend now it seems, to call 42K the new fun run. With the deluge and rise of many local ultra runners who do 100K week in, week out; I guess 42K is indeed their new fun run.
But for mere mortals like me, running a full marathon still takes time, effort and planning. Juggling life in-between and also to be mindful that I do not alienate other components in my life for the sake of running. Running is not my life. It is just a part of me. At the end of the day, it’s the people who had…

Affordable Ramadan Buffet : The Quest For Nasi Arab - Safaa BBQ

We were in Cyberjaya last weekend and had thought of ordering food from Saba Restaurant, located right opposite D'Pulze shopping mall.
It had been rather a tradition for us to "tapau" food from this restaurant for buka puasa, at least once during the Ramadan month.  Then we stumbled across this promotion at the restaurant next to Saba, Safaa Restaurant.
Quite affordable for a buffet dinner (heck, I'm not gonna dish out RM100 per person for buka puasa!) and unlike Saba's buffet priced at RM29.90, Safaa has lamb in the menu. Have to order ala-carte if want to eat lamb at Saba.
For around RM75 for us three, it would've been the same if we order our lamb mandy set anyway.  We didn't intend to stuff ourselves silly anyway, and only took a 2nd serving afterwards.
Food were replenished quite fast and it was pretty decent.
I have to say, quite good value for Arab food buffet.
Do make reservations as seats are limited.
