Enjoying Ansari Famous Cendol In Taiping

If you remember, we visited Taiping in mid-December for TNF Malaysia Mountain Festival. It's a trail race held in Taiping with 13K, 25K, 55K and 84K distance. Runners from all around the world had come and visited Taiping that weekend, including us!

Race recap here. After our run and a short rest at our hotel, we decided to head to Restoran Ansari Famous Cendol for a late lunch.
Restoran Ansari Famous Cendol is located at 92, Jalan Barrack, 34000 Taiping and is located just a few hundred metres from our hotel.

Anyway, because we only did 13K trail run that Sunday morning, we still had plenty of energy to walk around Taiping town that day. And we did! (More posts on our Taiping Heritage Trail walk later, I think...)
Ready to tuck in.
Our yummy cendol with loads of red beans.
And pasembor too!
While you're at it, enjoy this short video too!

Suka Suka Run By Majlis Perbandaran Sepang

On Saturday, the family headed to Persiaran Semarak Api to join Suka Suka Run 2019. The organiser was generous enough to provide my family with some slots to join. Alas, only one of my siblings and her son were able to join us because the rest already had other plans.

Suka Suka run 2019 was held in conjunction with Majlis Perbandaran Sepang’s 14th Anniversary and Car Free Day @ Cyberjaya.
The registration for the run was opened to public about only a month prior the event date itself, but the turnout was very encouraging. Just look at the crowd before the run's flag-off.

The organiser had arranged two dates for race kit collection, on Friday during working hours and on Saturday before the start of the run.
For us not working nearby Cyberjaya or Putrajaya, it was very convenient to have the option to collect our race kit on the morning of the run itself.
Senamrobik session was held at around 7:20am and runners gamely followed the instructors. Even Majlis Perbandaran Sepang's m…

Carbo-loading At STG Cafe, Spritzer EcoPark

We visited Spritzer EcoPark last weekend.
Spritzer EcoPark has a number of attractions; one can visit their Spritzer Natural Mineral Water Bottling Plant, play at their Signature Hole Golf and 18-hole Mini Golf courses, visit their cactus park or seal our love at their Heart Lock Corner.

For us, we visited the park mainly because it was the race venue for TNF Malaysia Mountain Festival 2019. Our race recap here.

We got there on Saturday evening to collect our race kits and even managed to see the Male Champion for the 84K category and Female first and second placing runners for 55K category finishing their run.

As our race was flagged-off on Sunday morning so we decided not to be adventurous with our dinner  that Saturday evening and decided to have it at the STG Cafe in the Spritzer EcoPark itself.
I was expecting a premium price tag for their dishes but to my surprise, the items in the menu are all very reasonably priced and the portion big too.
I had the very rich Two-Way Salmon p…

Hitting Taiping Trails At TNF Malaysia Mountain Festival 2019

We've visited Taiping three times before for a race: 2012 for Taiping International Marathon2013 and 2014 for King of Bukit Larut. And after 5 years, we're back to join TNF Malaysia Mountain Festival (MMTF) 2019. This is MMTF's second edition after last year's race and there was a slight format change compared to last year's edition.

Family Fun At Ice Watch Light Up The Day Run 2019

Every early December since 2015, the family look forward to join this one race. It's the Ice Watch Run which used to be called "Ice Watch Light Up The Night Run" as it was held at night.
The family had joined the 2015, 2016, 2018 night run editions and this year, there was a difference for the run. It was held in the morning instead and now of course called, "Ice Watch Light Up The Day Run".

The Ice Watch Light Up The Day Run 2019 was held on 08 December 2019 at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya. It is for us, a birthday run for Son of sorts as his birthday falls on 02 December.
As per previous editions, two distance categories were offered. 5K and 10K. We signed up for the 5K this year.

And for the two distances, there were a few categories for participants to choose:
10km Men/Women Open (12yrs & above)5km Fun Run Open (5yrs & above)10km VIP Slot (Free Ice-Watch)5km VIP Slot (Free Ice-Watch) In conjunction with the Light Up The Day Run 2019, Ice Watch also laun…

Free SIM Card With WAmazing!

When the family visits Japan, we don't usually get our own pre-paid SIM card or pocket wi-fi, simply because many places in Japan provide free wi-fi access. In outlets, mall, and even in certain trains, temples and shrines!
Admittedly, it can be a tad inconvenient when you need a data connection and didn't have any and had to search for a place with connection.
Although it had never been that big of an issue for us, for our recent trip, we solved that issue with an App called WAmazing. WAmazing not only allows us to book hotels at the lowest prices and reserve activities, but we also got a free SIM card.

Yup, WAmazing offers free SIM card 500 MB of data traffic. It may not sound like much, but we only used it when there's no free wi-fi connection and the 500 MB lasted us the whole 5 days of our trip. And it's a huge help especially as we are the type that will meander outside city areas and go for a hike.

We downloaded the WAmazing App before making our trip, choosing…

Getting Lucky At Luckin Kopi

On one of the few rare occasions that we did a "jalan-jalan cari makan" in the KL city area, we stumbled upon a newly opened kopitiam called Luckin Kopi just a stone's throw away from Pasar Seni MRT station (and also nearby the Pasar Seni LRT station).
Luckin means "fortune", which is closely related with the Oranda; a breed of goldfish that is regarded as "the flower of the water".
And you can see a goldfish in Luckin Kopi logo.
We arrived during the peak lunch hour period and there was a queue forming outside the shop. But nothing to worry, as Luckin Kopi staff were quick to assist us in getting a queue number and later our table.
Our table was located on the first floor and to get up, we go up this old-style wooden stairs. So nostalgic.
And indeed, the place brimmed with the nostalgic feel of old shop-houses we used to see when we were younger. So while we wait for our order to arrive, we just enjoyed to opportunity to look around and soak in the …
