Miyazaki Wagyu At MAHA2018

Among the things that we did at MAHA 2018 last Sunday, apart from joining the DVS Farmville Run and Pak Maha Treasure Hunt was to eat.
One particular booth caught our fancy and that was the Miyazaki Wagyu beef booth, brought in by Agroland (M) Sdn Bhd and the meat is certified Halal! They had a promotion for the steak and burger and both can be cooked and eaten at the booth. We can't afford the steak despite its promo price so we opted to try the wagyu burger. Wagyu burger cooking in action. Our wagyu burger.
It really was nice and the meat literally melt in our mouth.
My only beef (pun intended) was the sauce. I'm not much of a sauce lover and I felt adding it was quite unnecessary.
I had wanted to check out the cheese booth that came from Langkawi too but somehow forgotten about it.

PETALING JAYA, 28 November 2018 – Minutes before the timer hits the cut off time of 17 hours, loud cheers can be heard at the Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa, Langkawi, where the finishing line of the coveted IRONMAN Malaysia Langkawi is set. After the whole day of swimming, cycling and running, triathletes pushed themselves to cross that glorious finish line and earn the most sought after IRONMAN finisher’s medal and to be called “YOU ARE AN IRONMAN” by the commentators. With a total of 2400 participants this year, it is the highest participants ever recorded in the last 5 years since IRONMAN returned to Langkawi in 2014. In this year’s edition, we welcome the new Women’s Champion Mareen Hufe after the absence of four-time champion, Diana Riesler. Daniil Sapunov was crowned as the Men’s Champion, taking his first IRONMAN title in 4 years of his professional career.
This year, about 71% of the athletes came from 73 countries across the globe. The biggest delegate comes from Mal…

MAHA 2018 Treasure Hunt

Apart from joining the DVS Farmville Run 2018 during MAHA 2018 last Sunday, we also entered the Pak Maha The Explorer Treasure Hunt. Registration was free. But every participant of the treasure hunt (either a team of 2 or up to 4) received this bag from Decathlon.  Nice, right? Waiting for our turn to receive the set of questions for the treasure hunt.
There were 10 questions that we need to complete and we were given an hour and a half to complete our task.
It was fun, and gave us the opportunity to actually explore the exhibits while trying to find our answers.
There were several treasure hunt sessions held throughout the event but I'm not too sure about the time and details.
Anyhoo, we didn't manage to win anything but we were pretty happy to go back with two new free bags! ^^

Gulai Airport Langkawi

I've heard so much about this Gulai Airport place from friends who had crewed for Ironman Langkawi these past few years and Hubby and I finally got a chance to try it ourselves last week. It is located very near to the airport, hence the name Gulai Airport.
Its name is actually Halim GP Gulai Panas Airport and was formerly known as Gulai Kalut.
As I mentioned earlier, it was highly recommended by friends who had visited Langkawi in the past, and after eating there, we certainly agree with them. It's just a simple eatery but the staff were friendly and efficient. Food was good and we paid RM100 for our meal for 5 plus drinks. Not too bad lah, considering we had kerapu fish head, fish gulai and a mountain of deep-fried squids for dinner. Ulams were free and available in abundance.
Hubby and I had wanted to make a second visit, alas we couldn't find time to slot in a return makan trip there as the shop only opens at night.

Fun Run With Livestock At DVS Farmville Run At MAHA 2018

As part of MAHA 2018, a run was held at the Interactive Informative Valley, Laman Ternakan, MAEPS called the Farmville Run 2018.

It was one of two fun runs held on the same date at MAEPS, Serdang on Sunday Nov 25th, 2018. Organised by the Department of Veterinary Services with technical team Ten Senses, more than 500 runners turn-up for the fun run, including us!

I didn't plan to run initially as I only wanted to take photos at the event but Hubby encouraged me to run, and somehow managed to procure a bib, courtesy of the organiser and ran with my Telic sandal.

Talk about being a Bidan Terjun! Lucky it was only a 5K.

It was my first run, after recuperating more than a month after I injured my ankle in October.
Despite the non-existent mileage, I was glad I could run up all the hills that littered the 5K course.

But of course, I did stop a few times along the course to take photos of the runners.

It was a fun morning, and it was nice to see families out for their Sunday run. The w…

Brunch At Nutmeg

Tuesday was a public holiday for the Maulidur Rasul and both Hubby and I had just returned from Langkawi the night before.
We picked up Son from his uncle's house and then went to Bangsar Village for brunch and decided to have it at Nutmeg.
The place was brimming for diners but service was fast and quite efficient. These two goofing around. Son ordered the German Farmer's breakfast .
While Hubby and I ordered the Big Breakfast. Mine with toasted brioche, scrambled eggs and cured salmon. Hubby chose sourdough, poached eggs and salmon. We finished our meal with a cup of cappuccino and Nutmeg Ginger Kefir drink.
It was a nice brunch of course and we were of course happy to see our son again after being away for 6 days.

STANDARD CHARTERED KL MARATHON STRIKES REGIONAL GOLD AGAIN Malaysia’s Premier Running Event Earns Two Awards At SPIA Asia’s Annual Industry Affair
Bangkok, November 2018: The Standard Chartered KL Marathon (SCKLM), the premier distance running event in Malaysia, underlined its growing reputation as a top regional competition by clinching a Gold and Silver in two categories at the annual SPIA Asia event (Asia’s Sports Industry Awards and Conference) held here recently. SCKLM technology partner MYLAPS retained the Gold in the Best Sports Digital Platform category for the SCKLM App while Dirigo Events, the owner and organiser of SCKLM, received a Silver for the Best Mass Participation Event. Dirigo bagged the Gold in the same category last year. “We are delighted to have come away with two awards, similar to our success last year. If anything, the competition was tougher this time around with some big and prestigious names in the mix but we are humbled by the recognition of our peers in …

Langkawi During Ironman 2018 Weekend

We visited Langkawi for the second time in mid-Nov 2018.
We've been lucky that our two visits together to  Langkawi were for sports events.
The first was in 2016 for BDB Triple Challenge 2016 when we did route recce for its BDB Langkawi Run & Climb with a few other experienced runners and bloggers.
This second trip, Hubby and I were crews for Ironman Malaysia 2018.
We were pretty busy and spent the days apart as we had separate duties and schedules but we were lucky to have the last day (on Monday) free to explore the island. Our flight to Langkawi was on Wednesday at around 8.00am and we got to the airport at around 6.30am. It was a good decision to arrive early as the line for baggage drop was rather long. We bumped into friends who were also travelling to Langkawi - some were participants and a few crewing.
With some time to kill before boarding time, we had a leisurely breakfast at Ipoh Vintage at Gateway KLIA2.
Service was efficient and friendly but I find the drinks …

LANGKAWI, 17 November 2018 - Late in their careers, both Daniil Sapunov and Mareen Hufe had plenty to celebrate in their respective victories at the 2018 IRONMAN Malaysia at Langkawi today. Sapunov, from the Ukraine, achieved his breakthrough IRONMAN victory after nearly a decade at the distance. His win could not have been more emphatic. He came out of the swim with the leaders and took charge when defending champion Romain Guillaume cramped badly late on the bike after the pair pushed clear of chasers.
From there he was in a class of his own on the run to win in 8:33:37, which was 21:37 clear of second placed Kaito Tohara (Japan) with 35:35 back to Urs Müller (Switzerland) in third. It proved career bests for all three.
Sapunov, a triple Olympian from Athens, Beijing and London, spent 10 years on the ITU circuit where he gained 56 top-10s before moving to IRONMAN IN 2011. Since that time his best was fourth in Malaysia in 2016 and with only four top-10s on his slate. That makes the …

Running In Every State In Malaysia -Mazhairul Did It Within A Year!

I was both impressed and inspired when I learned about Mazhairul Jamaludin’s (or better known as MJ by his friends) feat of running in every state in Malaysia for the year 2018 alone! He had completed the feat and the year isn’t over yet! Crazy!
So of course I wanted to know more about him and what made him tick. Well at least when it comes to running. So here goes.
1.Hi MJ, can you share with us a little bit of yourself? I’m a simple runner who like sports and hope to promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
2. How long have you been running and what made you start?
I used to hate running. That changed when my ex-CEO asked me to take part in the 2009 Rat Race.  Since then I became interested in running but it was only after an invitation from my ex-colleague to be part of a small running group called “Running Alligators” that my running journey started to take off in 2010.
3. How many races have you joined since you started running? 230 races both road and trails: 11 Ultras  26 FM  …

Ori Udon For Dinner

It was gym day for me on Wednesday last week, so we decided to have dinner at Gardens mall.
I wanted to eat something warm so we decided to have dinner at Ori Udon. Son and I used to frequent this place a lot a couple of years back but we haven't eaten here for quite some time now.
The menu hasn't changed I think, apart from the new addition of ramen. I ordered my favourite, the mentaiko set that comes with karaage and green tea.
The udon was quite nice and no complaints there whatsoever from me. However, the karaage didn't taste quite fresh for me.
Hubby ordered the niku beed udon set that comes with edamame and green tea.
Already half eaten then only remembered to take photo.

The set was priced at RM16.90 and RM17.90 so it was quite affordable.
