Our CNY Eve Makan Besar

Whilst I had to go to work on Friday, the eve of CNY celebration, Hubby and Son enjoyed their day offs.
It was school holiday from Thursday to Wednesday while Hubby's office was closed from Friday to Tuesday. Lucky git!
They waited to have lunch with me on Friday before I went back to work and later was able to go off early as my office closed a bit early, Since it's lunch time, we ordered from the Set Lunches promotion. Hubby had whatsapp me to ask what I want to order before I was able to head down for lunch and by the time I reached Tony Roma's, my soup was already waiting for me! Creamy potato soup which I love. Beef ribs. I had wanted lamb ribs but lamb ribs are not featured in the set lunches. Boo! But beef ribs also good. Son sure had no problem with it too! ^^
I love the mashed potato and cleaned up everything on the plate. Hubby had burger.
Our table was waited by an efficient and friendly guy, Bikram. I have to say, I like the wait staff at Gardens Mall. There i…

What's Our Plan?

I was hungry by the time it's dinner time.
But both Hubby and Son weren't and they vetoed out from eating banana leaf rice at Nirwana Maju.

So what else to do?

Fall back on my second plan. Go to second plan for salmon. I was hoping that Plan B's "Makan Malam" promo is still available as I took quite a liking at their  Pan-Seared Salmon with Pesto Rice but alas, no more promotion.

And the main menu selections aren't all too exciting.

Haih. What to do? Sat down already after all...
So I ordered this Nacho Everyday Salad (this one was presented way better than the one served to me last November. Hah hah)
To go with my Asian fusion pasta (forgot the name). Lazy to google for it also.
While the two boys shared this salted egg fries.

It was raining that night, and after finishing our meal, we kinda just sat back and relaxed. But we couldn't help but notice the service staff watching us and kept looking at our table. Maybe to check whether we want to order more…

A Trip Down Tiger Lane, With The Boys Of '86

What do you do when you accept a copy of a school memoir to read? Make that the memoirs of STAR '86. STAR or Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman, is a premier all-boys residential school in Ipoh and named after the first Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Almarhum Seri Paduka Baginda Tuanku Abdul Rahman ibni Almarhum Tuanku Muhammad. The publishing of the batch's memoir; titled "I Wuz 'Ere, Memoirs of STAR 86" coincides with the batch's 30th anniversary and is a collection of tales and memories from the '86 batch, written in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Why am I reading it, then? Especially since I am obviously not a STAR Old Boy or one of the spouses? And do I dare to write about the book in my humble blog when the alumni boasts many prominent names, grammar Nazi notwithstanding?
I picked up "I wuz 'Ere, Memoirs of STAR '86" with no expectation other than to read on tales of yesteryears, as the Batch of '86 (now already in their late 40s) reminisce ab…

Two Runs, Surrounded By Nature In Kuala Kubu Bharu

Tired of joining races around the same route in Klang Valley?

Love the trails? Love running on the tarmac but want to enjoy some (or a whole lot of greenery)? Or both?

One of those crazy back2back runners who likes running in races both on Saturday and Sunday in the same weekend?

Joining these two races in Kuala Kubu Bharu may be the answer to your itchy feet.
Highlanders Series Bukit Kutu is a stunning trail run with a distance of 15km through Orang Asli village at the foothill (Kg. Pertak, Kuala Kubu Bharu) to Batu Tedung of Bukit Kutu. The first Bukit Kutu Run was held in March last year, with the distance of 12K. Those who are joining this year sees a 3K "upgrade" to the distance. I was there last year but not as a runner lah. I was helping only. Plan to help out again, this year. ^^ Anyhoo, race (crew) r…

A Season Of Sharing, At Tony Roma's

Did you guys notice the current Tony Roma's promotion; Tony's Sharing Platters, that is on-going from January 1 to February 28, 2017?

Our family had actually tried one of the sharing platter that is offered during the New-Year weekend, though our outing kinda ended in a sour note. Not that the food was at fault though, just the service needed a lot of bucking up.

Anyhoo... here we are again, back to Tony Roma's. Albeit at a different branch.

As I said, I don't have much problem with the food. Tony Roma's lamb ribs is still my favourite ribs that I enjoyed devouring. Their beef ribs are good too.
But this time around, we had a chance to attend a food review session at their Sunway Pyramid outlet and try out all three of their Tony's Sharing Platter.

3 amazing sharing platters are available and they are: The Lamb Lover’s Platter consists of Lamb Ribs Roma Rack, Lamb Cevapi, ½ BBQ Chicken, three cups of Soup of the Day and three sides of your choice at only RM1…

Off To Conquer Kiara Trail

Well, not exactly lah. I joined the Conquer The Trails@Kiara last Sunday as a volunteer and not as a runner. Volunteering and crewing at races is something Hubby and I occasionally do to support the running community and as a way for us to give back to the community. Plus it is interesting to be on the other side of a race too. We reported to duty at 3am on Sunday morning for race briefing (that's like waking up and reporting to run a full marathon wei!!!) but first order of business was for us to eat. The organiser was really nice in taking care of us volunteers. After having a very early breakfast, it was roll-call and briefing time before we head off to our respective stations. But not before being reminded to "tapau" food for our own consumption to eat while on duty and get our bottled drinks too. A few of the volunteers at a couple of stations were reminded to take extra water bottles for runners although they were not manning a water station. "They will und…

When The Legs Are In Need Of A (Not-So) TLC

I guess I've been hard on my body lately and especially to my legs that they do need a pummelling of sorts (massage la) to make it feel better.

I've been experiencing pain at my left legs for two weeks, prior to Twincity Marathon; which I joined last Sunday and had been foam rolling it. It felt better after the foam rolling but the niggling pain was still there.
A friend then highlighted that PRO MMR (that's short for PRO Medicine Massage Rehabilitation, ya) is having promotional rate for Twincity participants and crew so I made an appointment. I made my appointment on Friday night, just a couple of days before running my marathon. A bit late but that was the only time I was free. ^^! Better than nothing, right?
Anyhoo, this wasn't the first time I used their services.
I had an ankle injury a few months before running in Chiba Aqualine Marathon and had a session at PRO MMR a month before the run. I had spent many weeks hobbling about, before I had the massage, so to …

Who's joining me on Apr 9th?

Come. Come.
Let's tour the city of two feet.

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 January 2017: Dirigo Events, race owner and organiser of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2017 (SCKLM), announced today that runner’s registration will be open to the public from 10.00a.m. The Standard Chartered KL Marathon turns nine this year and the 2017 edition will take place on Sunday, 21 May at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.
A new pre-registration system was introduced for the 2017 race to acknowledge and thank runners who took part in the 2016 event. This would give previous participants a better chance of ensuring they have a spot in the much sought after event.
The Standard Chartered KL Marathon has grown to become the premier running event in Malaysia that draws thousands of local and international runners to the country whilst firmly establishing Malaysia in the global running calendar. The 2017 edition of the race will once again see Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia returning as title sponsor, along with a host of returning and new sponsors.
