Sanuki Udon For Buka Puasa

I wanted to hit the gym on Thursday so I suggested to Hubby to have our buka puasa at Mid Valley instead of going straight home. We initially planned to go to Subway but Son wanted to eat something else so Hubby suggested the newly opened Sukiya at Aeon Mid Valley Food Street. But somehow Son and I was more interested in eating udon at the sanuki udon shop called Kodawari Menya. Their condiments section for udon though it seems Malaysians ordering Japanese curry rice pile on these items on top of their dish and then drink tempura sauce as soup too. Dunno what the deal is about for them... Hihihi  Green tea at RM2 per cup and refillable.
I ordered Bukkake Udon and it was topped with a heap of Bonito flakes. Later, I head to the condiments section and topped my bowl with plenty of green onions and tempura flakes. They have a Buy 1 Free 1 offer on selected tempura items so I chose nasu (brinjals) and Son had kabocha (pumpkin). They were super big and delicious! My Bukkake Udon after …

Buka Puasa With The In-Laws

We've not eaten out a lot this Ramadan, preferring to be at home and most times I cooked during the weekends. Hubby's youngest brother in-law wanted to give the family a treat and we head out to Mid Valley Megamall last Sunday for a buka puasa together. And we went to TGI Friday's. The family. Everyone made it this time. But before we arrived, we made a stop at Son's grandfather's grave for a visit. This year is the second year since he passed away. Nothing to tell much about the get-together. Happy to see everyone again and we'll see them again during Raya (if no one has to work on Raya)... TGI Friday's staff were good and friendly. Food wise, since we asked to be served at around 7pm (and most served were brought to our table at 7.30pm) - they were cold from the waiting I guess...  I had Tennessee Burger. A bit meh for me. I don't really like burgers... But I figured I need to eat something substantial as I was planning to run later at night. Shoul…

Kari Kepala Ikan For Buka Puasa

It's been quite some time since I last cooked fish head curry and decided early this week that I'd cook them this weekend.
Something different from the usual simpler fares we eat for buka puasa. It's been a conscious decision to just have simple buka puasa and sahur for the Ramadan month instead of indulging on an assortment of food or eat too much. Other than the weekday stop at our usual makcik for our buka puasa for Mon - Thu, we didn't venture to Pasar Ramadan.
Anyways, back to the fish head curry... Grouper fish head bubbling away on the stove. I cooked it early at around 3pm so that it'll be nice in time for buka puasa at 7.28pm when all the spices are nicely "integrated" together.  Our feast.
And the fish head curry, just transfer the "pot" from stove to dining table. Less washing up to do. Hihi And then, its' time to eat!

Our Own Magnum

Finally, armed with the voucher for a free Magnum ice-cream to be redeemed at Magnum cafe in Mid Valley which we got for registering and running in the Mid Valley City Charity Run; we had our first "make-our-own" Magnum ice cream. As we got our voucher, we saved RM9.90 which we would have otherwise have to fork out for this Magnum with three toppings.

That's all for today. ;)

Dinner At Mr Kabab & Biryani

If you go to Presint Diplomatik or Presint 15 in Putrajaya, you can see almost a whole row of shops dominated by one restaurant and that's Mr Kabab & Biryani. We are on a yet another lookout for a good and affordable Nasi Arab joint as the one we like which is Saba Restaurant is quite far, with the location being in Cyberjaya.
We had tried D'Arab Station and thought we'd try Mr Kabab when we were in the area a few weeks ago. Instead of a sharing dish like we usually order, we chose an individual set this time.

Son chose the lamb sheesh kebab with mendy rice.
And me & hubby both had the lamb mendy. and cool things down with Barbican drins, of course. ^^
Verdict: very generous portion. We could've ordered two individual sets and the three of us could still be full sharing it!the lamb is not as soft and just fall off the bones like Saba or D'Arab Station.affordable as it only cost us RM70 for the food and drinks. At the moment, Saba still tops my list, followe…

Gaited Community long run at Bukit Cinta, UM. ^^
Our second night LSD during Ramadan month around the (in)famous Bukit Cinta loop.
Just like the previous GC session at BC, we submitted our names to the University's security people before our run on Friday night. We did this as the campus guard were wary about big groups congregating in front of the Dewan Tunku Canselor last year and we wanted to avoid any misunderstanding with them this year.
I guess it's good to do it too, as we're a bunch of outsiders entering campus premises anyway.
The group wasn't as big as it was last week but still a pretty decent turnout. Group photo taken at around midnight, mid-run. Just in case some decided to leave early. ^^
We started our run at 10.30pm although a few had already done a loop when we started. For female runners in the group, we stuck to the pack or ran in two. For safety reason, of course.
Mindful of the busy traffic that night, we made sure we ran in single file an…

A Middle Eastern Buka Puasa Spread At D'Arab Station

Our rezeki when I received a confirmation for a blogger review session at D'Arab Station for buka puasa at their Alam Damai, Cheras outlet.  Located at No. 36, Jalan Damai Raya 2, Alam Damai, Cheras; the shop is easy to spot even from the main road.
Pretty hard to miss, right? ^^ D'Arab Station is modeled as a middle eastern fast food outlet hence the decor is pretty much casual and simple. Not to mention colourful.
Red brings out the appetite, by the way.
Although small, the shop can fit a decent number of diners comfortably. It's hard to miss this kambing golek which was roasting at the front of the shop. Pass by the shop, already drooling lah!
But then, some real Pak Arab came and bought almost all of the kambing golek, leaving pretty much just the bones! Huhuhu
Luckily, there was still some for us to enjoy. Phew! Beside the kambing golek, there was a roti john station. Not just any 'ol roti john but roti john royal. For a non roti john fan like me, the one I had a…
