Throwback: Caving In Merapoh

Image
Both Google photos and Facebook reminded me about this caving trip we did in Merapoh three years ago.
2015 to 2016 was the time I was still very active doing ultramarathons and hitting the trails and visiting Merapoh as part of the recce team for The Magnificent Merapoh Trail was fun.

As a side trip, we also visited Gua Jinjang Pelamin (blog post here).
I really have to thank Running Project and Ten Senses for inviting us to join the trip - both the route recce and the caving trip. We had to miss out on several other activities as we had to leave for KL sooner than the rest of the group.

It's been a while since the family hit the trail. I spend more time joining road races and since two years  ago, I didn't do any out-of-town races (except Itabashi Marathon in 2017 and Okhotsk-Abashiri Marathon in 2018 lah. hehehe) because of Son's busy school and extra class schedule.
He will be sitting for his SPM this year so we foresee much more busy schedule at school.
He doesn't…

Our Two Little Rascals

Image
Well, our kittens are not so little anymore. Exactly 9 months ago, we rescued these two little kittens who were stuck in our neighbour's car undercarriage (or something). It took us awhile to get them out but we had to do it before our neighbour unwittingly started her car with the kittens still stuck. And now, 9 months later...
Growing very, very healthily.
They both love Whiskas (one love wet food, the other dry food) and seemed to turn their nose when we tried to change the brands of their food.
Whiskas, if you're reading this, we're open for collaboration! LOL
On a serious note, a lot of times we do wish we can rescue more kittens but living in an apartment; it's really hard for us to have more pets.
We feed strays on daily basis and I'm trying to get a few of them spayed (funds is a concern lah...) but the number of strays (cats and dogs) seen in my neighborhood is worrying.
Folks, only have pets if you are really, really serious about caring for another liv…

My Vrace Malaysia: KL Progress Captured With Vivo 11i

Image
Remember I posted about Vrace Malaysia earlier?
It's Malaysia's first multi-location Virtual Run and participants need to run through the city and complete at least 2 location checkpoints with a minimum total of 10 kilometers to earn entitlements, rankings, and an unprecedented journey to explore the bustling city of Kuala Lumpur.

So I did!

I haven't done all 8 checkpoints though, I only did 2. But one of the checkpoints is a place I rarely visit and I made a point to go there because of Vrace! Hahaha
My first completed checkpoint was at Dataran Merdeka.
My second one was at KLCC Park. As a matter of fact, I visited KLCC Park twice after I registered for Vrace! Both at night, after work. It was so cool to run around the park at night while navigating through some tourists. Hehehe

I've managed to do the minimum 10K (well, I did more than 10K in total actually) at 2 checkpoints and submitted my results. Vrace Malaysia then emailed me my certificate of completion. Yeay!

TriHard - Tri Is A Family Matter For Nurul Hidayah

Image
Every year on March 8, the world celebrates International Women’s Day to support, raise, inspire and women across all fields. To celebrate the upcoming International Women’s Day in March, I asked a few questions to a few female triathletes who manage to juggle work, family and training life; in keeping of this year’s theme of #BalanceforBetter and celebrate women’s achievements and tenaciously challenge bias.
These strong women show us that with determination and focus, women can achieve so much more. They are women who embrace the multi-sports discipline of swim-bike-run with such determination and doing it in style. For the second installment of this series, Nurul Hidayah spared some of her busy time to answer our questions.
Thank you for spending time to answer a few of our questions. I really do appreciate it.
For the readers, can you tell us a little bit about yourself? I am a 39 years old single mother of three children. I work in the maintenance sector as Facilities Executive. …

A Working Saturday Lunch At Tigerlily

Image
Last Saturday, we were invited to the Signing Ceremony of SOFEA Run and Strategic Partnership Signing Ceremony between ACASIA, Ten Senses & Gluu, and also to attend the prize giving ceremony to runners who received prizes Tham Luang Cave Run giveaways.

Coincidentally, the signing ceremony was held on the same day and venue as the Race Entry Pack Collection (REPC) of Twincity Marathon, at Tamarind Square Cyberjaya.
After the signing ceremony we met up with one of their key staff for lunch at Tigerlily Restaurant.

The place was quite busy but we managed to get our table and ordered Combo 2 plus a plate of Thai Fried Chicken.
The first item that was served was this Tiger Bite Platter.
Then came the Thai Fried Omelette.
I really do love the crunchy Stir Fried Vegetables.
Then the Half Steamed Lemongrass Siakap. Sedap.
And finally the Thai Fried Chicken.
We washed it down with some yummy Thai Tea.

During our late lunch, we talked and discussed about a lot of matters and not just abo…

Twincity Marathon 2019 - Back For The 5th Year

Image
I've joined Twincity Marathon since its second year and have been coming back since then. This year however, I only opted to run in the half marathon instead of full marathon category. Due to a mixture of injuries, health issues, packed schedule and most importantly, laziness - I haven't been training much for the months since I completed my full marathon in September last year.
I had briefly entertained the idea of downgrading my category but I finally decided to just go ahead with my half marathon but fully realising that my timing will be awesomely bad. And it sure was. Hahaha
We were flagged-off at 5:30 am and with so many half marathon runners, I only managed to clear the Start Line timing mat 5 minutes after flag-off. So many runners!
The route was different from last year as we were back to the old race venue nearby D'Pulze.
The first 3K was nice and friendly with not much incline. I adopted my 1K run-100m walk from the very start.
The first water station was loca…

Twincity Marathon 2019 - Kids Dash

Image
Twincity Marathon was back for its 5th year last weekend and for the 5th year, there was a new category - the Kids Dash category.
Kids Dash category was open to 6 - 12 year olds and was held the day before the main event, on Saturday, January 19 2019.
About 100 kids registered for this inaugural event category and it certainly look encouraging. Kudos to the parents and kids who came and joined the run last Saturday. The participants of Kids Dash in Twincity Marathon 2019.
Parents were allowed to run along the course but was asked by the emcee to start behind the kids and they sportingly obliged, as you can see from the photo. Flag-off and off they went, all out.
Kids will be kids after all and they sure have boundless energy.
The top 3 runners in both Girls and Boys category finished in below 4 minutes. Parents and family members lined up along the route to take precious photos of their kids running. For their effort, finishers of Kids Dash received this lovely medal - just like thos…

Kerja Kahwin At Bangi Golf Resort

Image
Me and my family always get intrigued at the wedding kenduris held at Bangi Golf Resort whenever we passed by the area.
One surely couldn't miss seeing their buntings lined up along the road leading to Bangi Golf Resort and Bangi Resort Hotel (formerly known as Bangi-Putrajaya Hotel).
We finally got a chance to attend a "wedding" there last Saturday! It was a preview for Kerja Kahwin @ Bangi Golf Resort and we certainly love the experience!
Now, if only we can get my youngest sister to have a wedding reception here when she gets married? Hahaha
Kerja Kahwin @ Bangi Golf Resort offers first class fuss-free wedding packages that caters for everything for the bride and groom and their families. They cover wedding invitation cards, wedding dais, make-up, wedding outfits, and of course food for the guests.  The three-tiered wedding cake and wedding "pelamin".
I really do love the soft and romantic colour scheme. "Makan beradab" - Ikan Kerapu Masam Manis. …
