25th Day Of Puasa

Just a few more days towards Hari Raya! Plus just a few more days towards the end of the holy month of Ramadhan. In one hand, we should rejoice Raya is near. In the other, we should be sad that Ramadhan is approaching the end.

I've not been as active as I was last year during Ramadhan. I lasted the whole month last year with a max of 5 hours sleep each night and pretty much was OK throughout the period. Can't say the same this year. Boo! Sore throat lah, what lah. *bluek*

Despite making sure I had enough rest (and I did!) I still managed to be a bit unwell towards the end of Ramadhan. huhuhu Hope I'll feel all better by this Sunday! I want to "makan" a lot of Raya goodies!

Raimie will have his school holiday starting this Thursday till end of next week but I'll only take a day off for Raya and that's next Wednesday.
Still not sure what I'll cook for the Raya morning yet but Nasi Impit & Kuah Kacang are a must in my household!

Rurousha - those are lemang (the circular thing covered in leaves), ketupat palas (those triangular shapes thing) & eaten with rendang (those dark brown thing).

Anyway, can't be all happy about eating during Raya as my tooth is still a bit sensitive. Finally found a good dentist who was willing to slot me in, between her appointments and did my first of three root canal treatments with her. The next appointment will be sometime in September! Dentists sure are making money. They are always booked!

I went to the Post Office to withdraw some money from my ASB account (boohooo!!! depleted money in account) for the Raya. I tell you, I really rather do my transactions at the post office than going to banks! Really can't stand the sour looking faces of banks counter staff and their slow service (especially those at RHB). Mid Valley post office staff deserve credit. They are fast, efficient and most times - no sour face. Friendly too.

Got my cash ready - now I just need to brace myself for Raya!

Can't end this post without a mention about me running, can we?
I did just nine runs in the three weeks of Ramadhan! Epic fail! To think that I have Adidas King of the Road run slotted 3 weeks after Raya. Minus the Raya week (food orgy, here we come!), I have two weeks to train. I think I'll just settle and run a 7min pace for it. Slow and steady (and last!) wakaka

Anyhoo, I am completely bummed that PJ Half Marathon is held on Sep 30th! Why? Why? Why? I wanted to enter this race, as one of my preparation to do a full-marathon next year but I've registered myself for Salomon X-Trail 10K train run on the same date! Not to mention I'm doing Taiping Half Marathon on Sep 16th! Zaini told me to stick with what I've registered (and paid for) and not be greedy. Uhuhu...

But yeah, must not be greedy. I don't think my body can stand the beating of entering races every week! I'm not a spring chicken anymore you know. Enter the Jr Veteran category for Taiping some more. Salomon's in a veteran category too. Wuwuwu...

If I do it before buka puasa, I make sure I run and finish almost buka puasa time, so I need not wait long to drink afterwards. ;)

    1. I stuff myself gluttony with nasi impit and kuah kacang every year at my colleague's open house. Without fail, I'll immediate regrets for what I've done, because I have rice and make no more room in my tummy for laksa, lontong, soto, kuih muih, biscuits. Argh!!!

This year I must be gentle (provided my colleague invites me, I think I scared her off!).

I remember I asked you about it in your previous post~ Now TM asked, later SP will ask again.

  12. I'm taking a step back next year from signing up for races. Going to concentrate on more training and only sign up for the quality races, especially FM's, even then maybe a max of 3 a year. Like you said, I'm not young and I do still want running to be enjoyable and not become a chore. All the best in attempting your first full next year.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. And you too.

The most important thing for us is to enjoy our runs and races, right Nick? Though a PB can't hurt. xD

3 races max next year or 3 FM max?

      Delete
    2. 3 FM's la, don' think I can tahan only run 3 races a year ... LOL!

      Delete
    3. I was thinking & wondering about that. Can Nick tahan running 3 races a year. kekeke

    2. haiyo, you still not well ah?? when you want to recover?? you know what the chinese say?? "you are weak because you are rich".. hehehehe, because only rich people have the money to get sick and to pay for all the medical bills.. poor people CANNOT fall asick~~

    3. hope you can really enjoy your raya goodies without the worry your tooth getting aching again!! wakakaka, hopefully that dentist is trustworthy (pray she's not like that one in MV)..

      Delete
    4. That dentist, so far so good lah... reasonable price summore.

The one in MV really no good one. So rough too!

      Delete
  17. fuuyoh, you cooking ah?? cooking on the first day of raya?? nasi impit sounds complicated to cook.. :p

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. eih, next time don't only tell Rurousha lah all those complicated Malay vocab, must also highlight to let SK know.. kekekeke!! :D

      Delete
    2. so that's the compulsory thing for raya, or just in your household?? for us chinese, normally the morning of the first day of CNY, we have vegetarian at home..

      Delete
    3. that's why many time i'd sleep until afternoon, so by then i can have meat already!! wakakakaka~~

      Delete
    4. Nasi impit instant style lah... now got what. Those rice in plastic packets, and you just dump it in boiling water and let it cook until it hardens. Then refrigerate. Much easier than how my mom used to do it. Wrap in cloth and put those heavy lesung on top so that the rice all squashed together. ;)

      Delete
    5. Nasi impit, kuah kacang, rendang, lemang - those are standard fare for Raya lah. Not to say compulsory but I think most homes will serve it. ^^

Hahaha your parents let you sleep away until noon on CNY? So pampered! xD

      Delete
  18. aiyah, you still have money, a lot of money in your account lah.. you just taking out 1% for raya only.. don't cheat!!!

    2. the post office in MV good meh?? i still think the service is slow lah.. i usually go to PPB lah, at least there are more counters (albeit slow and lazy staffs)..

      Delete
    3. but i found it very weird!! because now the processing hub is in shah alam, mails sent from PPB will go to shah alam, and then send back to PPB to despatch!! ala, so redundant kan?? or else the registered mail i sent to you would have arrived the next day already..

      Delete
    4. Yalah, I find the new postal processing system very funny and weird. But hey! I suppose they need to justify building that hub in the first place even though it makes for an inefficient delivery system. No? ;p

      Delete
  19. Now that's what I call service: when your questions are answered (NB with photos!) before you even ask them! Thanks, ma'am!

Further Googling has placed rendang and ketupat in my rapidly growing list of "must have this" Malaysian foods. ^^

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Half-baked service though. I gave tidbits of info to you, knowing full well that you still need to do more googling for them! *evil laugh*

  20. "I did just nine runs in the three weeks of Ramadhan! Epic fail!"

That's not an epic fail. That's a word selection fail. Semantic dissonance!

"Just" and "nine runs" do not belong together, especially not in conjunction with "three weeks" and "fasting".
