Meat For Recovery, Rice For Carbo Loading

Well, simply put lah. Anyway this is just a random Thursday post.

I've been craving for a lot of protein ever since I finished my run at Malaysia Women Marathon and I think it's my body's way to recover fast. Protein is good for muscle recovery after a hard workout and for me, that easily means I eat more meat lah. xD

I was supposed to do another marathon this week, at Borneo International Marathon and it's time to EAT RICE! Actually, it's time to carbo load. Time to eat a lot of starchy, carbohydrate rich food. Complex carbohydrate. But since I'm Asian, I just turn to rice.

Back to MAKAN NASI after a diet of almost of no rice for two weeks.

The "lauk pauk" or dishes to accompany the rice. Pretty simple dishes. We always eat rather simply so usually there aren't like three of four dishes served on the table. It would be too much for us anyway.  ^^

All rice and no bread or pastry would still be boring, so it was rather nice to stop by Hiestand Gourmet Bakery, inhaling freshly baked bread aroma;
Drool. Drool. Drool. They are all still warm and lovely.
Didn't buy any but got one of their Cornish pasty (which I love) and had it with a mug of coffee over at a nearby coffee shop instead.

Hmm... what will I eat tonight to carbo-load? Pan mee sounds enticing at the moment.

But even the best laid plan can go haywire. At the last minute, Borneo International Marathon organiser received a letter from the Police Department "advising" the marathon to be changed to another date. 4 days before the big event. Wow.700 detonators and explosives went missing in Menggatal. Double Wow. @.@

Stay safe peeps. There are people out there wanting to do "mischief" and add discord to an already not-really safe country. :(

  2. Explosives went missing? Heh, in South Africa the police would've stolen it.

    I hope it was a stock-keeping error rather than something more serious.
