What To Wear? Runners Version - Headgear

I'll be attempting a 12 hour run next week and if all goes well, a 30 hour event in November.

I don't run fast and I don't run far but I do want to try complete at least 50km next week. AT LEAST. My last 50km was in January at Watergate 16-hour, which was held at night. Next week's Back 2 Endurance will be during the day.

The event starts at 6am and finishes at 6pm and participants will run through the morning, afternoon and evening sun. Why do you think I ran up to noon during training before? I'm not that crazy to do it without a reason! Hahaha

Anyways, I've been grumping over the need to buy a desert cap. Colleagues have been remarking I look darker this week.
This is a desert cap. I call it "topi askar Jepun" or Japanese solider cap. hur hur
But somebody told me to DIY instead. I just wanted to cover my face and neck, after all... he said. Hmph!
This is what hubby suggested. Using a "tudung bawal". Insaf mak! Muahaha
Cis!
I probably opt for this. A wet towel on my head would be nice to cool down
It's a towel I got from an onsen in Japan. The towel is for us to keep and now instead of using it in an onsen, I use it to wipe sweat off running in KL. LOL
And use this buff I got in my goodie bag during the Butterfly Walk.
Gotta love functional freebies in goodies bag! Butterfly walk had the awesomest goodies bag EVER!

Now, if you excuse me... I need to decide which t-shirt and base layer to wear for next week. LOL

and yeah, gotta think about hydration and fueling too. Running long hours sure require a lot of planning on top of training!

  1. Actually I prefer the towel one, don't know why...I feel like it's more comfortable to wipe off the sweat~~~hehe!!!

Looking forward to see which t-shirt and base layer you choose to wear lo!!!

    1. Sweat wise, a cap would have suffice.

I'm trying to cover up against the 10am-5pm sun with those! Hahaha

  2. yes, you need to protect yourself from the scorching sun.

  3. Put on a good sunnies and a big fisherman hat will help too I guess... Luckily last year B2E was not that hot as I expected but who knows, we should prepare for the worse case scenario.

As the weather nowadays is unpredictable... Normally most of the runners will try to complete as many loops as possible while it's still not that hot and shining bright... Best of luck Sis! ;-D
