Hokkaido Day 2 (Thursday): Hakodate to Sapporo

After spending a night in Hakodate and staying in an awesome hotel called Share Hotels HakoBA Hakodate (more on this in later posts), it was time for us to travel to our next city.
I woke up at 4.30am (body clock insisted I wake up as the sun was already up by that time, I guess) and head out for a short run at around 5.30am. Bumped into a few other runners out for their morning run and also those who were walking their dogs.
After breakfast, we spent some time checking out the rest of the hotel as the hotel staff had requested for a review about the hotel. So, if wanna give review, must go see everything la, right?
But soon, it was time to make our way back to JR Hakodate Station to catch our train to Sapporo.
Hubby had made seats reservation for all our train trips the day before (free seat reservation if using JR Pass or JR Hokkaido Rail Pass) so we didn’t need to worry about getting seats on the train.
We reached Sapporo at almost 3.00pm and the first order of business was looking for a place to have lunch.
A quick pizza and doria lunch at Saizeriya which is a family restaurant plus indulging in its drinks bar, we then walked to our hotel.
On the way to our hotel, we walked past Odori Park and there was the Sapporo Autumn Fest happening (from Sep 7 – Sep 30, 2018). We didn’t stop to buy any food at any of the stalls that were lined up there but we enjoyed walking around the fair and soaked in the festive mood.
For our second night stay, we stayed at The Stay Sapporo Nagomi. It’s a dorm that also has private rooms and we chose to stay in this very spacious room that came with a private bath.
The room was quite basic but amenities were provided and certainly no complaints from us with the 4,000yen+ per night that we paid.
We went out for a walk later that evening and then decided to take the train to Otaru which is about 45 minutes away from Sapporo.
Alas, we arrived too late (it was almost 9.00pm when we got there) so most shops were closed and the last tourists boat at the canal were getting ready to dock.
With nothing much to see, we head back to Sapporo for a late dinner and enjoy the night lights of Sapporo.
We traveled light with just a small backpack for each of us so after we return to our hotel, hubby did the laundry while relaxing in our room. The tatami room was really nice and comfy and we slept soundly on the futon.

Thanks for sharing in detail about your trip. Next time if I plan to go Hokkaido, I can use your posts as a guide. :)
ReplyDeleteSure.
DeleteBut mine involves a lot of hiking and running. Not much shopping :P
I don't like to shop. I just like to go to a place to eat and sit around, doing nothing but soaking in the atmosphere.
Deleteaaaaahhh Hokkaido definitely for you. :)
DeleteOh, then I must put more effort to go. Thanks! :)
