Banana Leaf And Briyani Meals

and I always lament over the fact that my weight pretty much stays the same regardless the amount of workouts I've done?

Been hankering for some banana leaf rice for a bit now. There's one restaurant at Jalan Telawi that serves it but if we get there a tad late i.e. after 7pm, the place is already packed with patrons; locals and foreigners alike and we were always late.

Finally got the chance to eat banana leaf rice last Friday.
Raimie and his "plate" of rice. He wasn't happy to be eating there though as he prefers  to go to a nearby Nasi Kandar Pelita for his "Ayam masak kicap".
Ours. Huge dollop of rice on my "plate"  because I didn't say when at the staff to stop scooping rice on my banana leaf. For Zaini, he had another helping of rice later.
Vegetarian version : Three types of vegetables - bitter gourd, long beans and cucumber pickles; salted chillies (I love it!) and rice topped with dhall curry.
The non-vegetarian version : same three vegetables with a side dish of chicken masala plus rice topped with fish curry gravy for Zaini.
Medium serving of squid and papadum completed our meal. Yeah, I didn't go all vegetarian that day. Enjoyed that squid a lot. Raimie did too. ^^
and then, there's this. We didn't eat this chicken briyani on the same day we ate that banana leaf rice. That would be too much cholesterol overload! Had this for lunch on Friday two weeks ago.

The highlight of having an off-day on Friday and being at home for both Zaini and I would be eating briyani at the Mamak nearby our home. The place only serves briyani on Fridays.

After all these rich food, is it any wonder we ate only bread last weekend?

Note : all photos were taken with my dinky RM400 phone. ;p

Had a little during my lunch just now @_@ Canteen food not nice, got 4 options only - diluted curry chicken, ayam masak kicap, stir fried taugeh and dunno-what-hanyir-punya-ikan goreng.

I only took nasi with taugeh and diluted kuah.
