It's Been A While

Since we had a Japanese meal. If I'm not mistaken the last one we had was in December 2011. In Kawasaki. Ahaks!

For Mother's Day last weekend, we had lunch at one of our favourite Japanese outlet in Bandar Baru Bangi. It's a bit far for most people I guess and it doesn't have friendly hours. The place only opens from 11.30am to 2.30pm for lunch and 5.30pm to 9.30pm for dinner. But if you are in the area and you like Japanese food, I highly recommend this place.

Be prepared for many angles shot here! Hahaha
All excited to be eating Japanese food again.
Just ocha for us. One of the few places left that serves it FOC. Cold for the boys and hot for Mommy. Always. You know you got good service when your glass of tea got filled up without you realising it. Plus a staff came quickly to me when I was staring at the day's special board to take my order without me so much as glancing at anyone.
Raimie's nigiri sushi & udon set. All this for just RM30.00.

Sluuurrrrrpppppp!!!!
Daddy had the chicken katsu kare set. Just RM23.00.
Japanese curry rice's close-up. ^^

What Mommy chose for lunch. Sashimi & yakiniku set. Mommy just had to eat the most expensive amongst her family! LOL

Mommy is a red-meat lover so of course she prefers beef over chicken. Excellent sashimi. Almost melt in your mouth pieces.

There are chawan mushi served too, and mochi for desserts. Totally good value, right?
Love this simmered fish cheek that was served in all the sets too. It's simmered for a long time that you can just chew and eat everything, bones and all! Love, love, love it!

  2. I'm surrounded by Japanese restaurants, and you still managed to make me jealous! I'm pleasantly surprised by the prices. (I had to look up ringgit, of course, and convert to yen.) I would've thought that Japanese food would be expensive in other countries, but clearly not!

I want Zaini's food. Japanese curry is The Best! ^^

PS: I love the colours of your ringgit notes. Same colours as tropical flowers. :)

    2. @Rurousha,
Teishoku set here are usually priced in the range of RM20 - RM60.00. So, I guess not bad because that's what we'd be paying for in Japan. Although I have to say, eating it in Japan is much nicer. Quality and quantity vary though.

      @Yvonne,
      You cook Japanese curry? Cool!

I never cook Japanese curry at home. Yet.

Only Zaini & Raimie like them and I don't. I mentioned this before - I don't like to cook what I don't like to eat. Unless of course, Raimie starts to make puppy eyes at me. ;p

    3. Quantity! I didn't think of that. You get more in Malaysia?

Yvonne, you have excellent taste! ^^

Lina, you don't like Japanese curry? (@_@) AAARGH, she screams, and promptly faints from shock.

    4. Shoot! How did I miss this comment?

You wish! Quantity here in Malaysia is waaaaayyyy smaller. Puny in fact.

I like my curry spicy and hot. Japanese curry is too "wimpy" for my taste. LOL

  3. i like the shasimi salmon...
bvery thick portion.. I use to makan at sushi zanmai and their portion is getting thinner and thinner...

    1. Not only the thickness was nice. The cut was excellent too. Sometimes, especially at buffets, you get sashimi that is not nicely cut and you had to deal with the stringy layers. Bluek.

    1. It's a bit out of the way, unless you are nearby - Kajang, Balakong, etc

  8. yeah, i realised that too.. most restaurants now will charge like RM2 for green tea, only just a few really authentic ones will serve it for free..

    1. Hard to see places that don't charge for a glass of water nowadays.

  9. maybe this is those family operated restaurant?? not like they are opening the whole day like those chains..

    1. Never ask. LOL

It's a small place - just about 10 tables. Not normal to see in Malaysia where owners tend to cram as many people as possible in one space, but totally normal in Japan.

  11. Where got many-angle shots here? All are different photos, except Zaini's chicken katsu kare, hehehehe!

  14. Raimie can use chopstick very well, unlike my daughter, she can't even hold the chopstick properly. Blame it to mummy who always search high and low for spoon and fork for her.

    1. Raimie very sombong one. He doesn't like us asking for forks and spoons when we were in Japan. ;p
