Counting Days For The Holidays
Am really, really looking forward for the Chinese New Year holiday in about three weeks’ time. Coincidentally, Valentine’s Day falls on Chinese New Year this year.
I don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day but I like taking advantage of whatever promotion the day entails. With a long weekend during the holiday, I’ve already booked two nights at a nearby hotel to spend with Zaini and Raimie. Two nights of lazing around by the pool or in our hotel room doing nothing should be bliss. I think I need to work harder at the gym so that I don’t look half bad in my swimming suits though! Sure don’t want looking like a beached whale at the pool. LOL
I got a good rate for our rooms, so much cheaper than the published promotion rate (even cheaper than their best available rate) because I told them I didn’t want to go for their buffet breakfast and am trying to avoid the breakfast crowd. It’ll be nicer to have breakfast in bed instead and maybe a quiet dinner in the evening. I wonder if they can arrange a candlelight dinner in our room or not. That’ll be so romantic. ^_^
For those celebrating the New Year, what’s your plan for the holidays? Traveling back to your hometown? Do drive carefully ya. Should be time for your car to be checked and serviced before your journey.
Or any plans to go away for a vacation? Cuti-cuti Malaysia or abroad? Enjoy your holiday!
Anyway, why lah Thaipusam falls on Saturday this year? Sadly, quite a number of public holidays fall on Saturdays in 2010. That means, I have lesser off days to enjoy! *sob sob* Even for those who work on Saturdays, public holidays on a Saturday meant that you only get half day off because the afternoon part is already your off day right. So rugi!

You get long weekend on CNY? Lucky! No such thing here, the government only mark Feb 14th as holiday which is Sunday :(
ReplyDeleteWe have long weekend later on 26th.
@Evan's Mom,
ReplyDeleteTwo days Public Holidays for CNY, just like the Hari Raya Aidilfitri. As it falls on Sunday, there's replacement holiday so we get Saturday - Tuesday holiday. Yeay! Most school will be closed for a week too. :)
26th Jan or 26th Feb? What's the occasion?
CNY is always staying back at home and spend time with family and friends.. i love KL during CNY, because everyone's gone and i can really feel the "serenity" of the normally bustling city.. :)
ReplyDelete@SK,
ReplyDeleteYeah, KL will defintely be quiet. Looking forward to a jam free road for a few days. :D
Yeah, CNY and Valentine's on the same day.. Meaning Monday is also a holiday.. I won a hotel voucher the other day (although the hotel is in PJ, but it's still free voucher) and thought of using it this Valentine's. My Buggsy totally need some relaxing time.. And I need to get away... :P
ReplyDeleteA lot of public hols on Sats this year? that's good news for me cos I work hardest on Sat! Yeah!!!
ReplyDeleteSo which hotel you are staying this time?
ReplyDeleteWhoa! You've got your holiday all planned out! Nice.. I'm certainly for spending some relaxing time in a holiday environment, like in a hotel. You, have lots of fun, Lina.
ReplyDeleteeventhough i 'm housewife... i'm also counting for public holiday...sbb masa public holiday...i boleh sambung tidur..tak payah stay up to say bye bye to husband... or bangun to siapkan kids for schools... and paling best boleh stay up for midnight in-house movie...
ReplyDeletekaki tidur gak nih
@Angel,
ReplyDeleteSo nice get a free hotel voucher. *envy* :D
Hope you'll have a great Valentine's day! :)
@foong,
ReplyDeleteSo better no kacau you on Sat, eh? Nnt disturb you on your most productive. :D
I contacted several hotel but in the end we will be going to the same hotel we went in Sep. Remember which one? XD
@Happysurfer,
ReplyDeleteyou too. :)
@Yatie,
ReplyDeleteYa jugak ek? Holiday time no need to rush early in the morning to ensure everyone gets ready.
Budak2 cuti tak Feb 1?
@Lina, Feb 26th ~ Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW. Don't you have holiday too?
ReplyDelete@Evan's Mom,
ReplyDeleteYeah, we'll have a day off that Friday too. Didn't look at the calendar properly. XD

ReplyDelete@Dot,
ReplyDeleteKo selalu jenjalan...memang syok.
Aku once in a blue moon aje. Tu yg dinanti-nnti tu. Hehe
Wow so fast u hv gone thru the holidays in 2010! My hometown is KL so I'll be in town during CNY but maybe going short distance travel only :-)
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to that holiday too.
ReplyDelete@Dora,
ReplyDeleteIf you have a schoolgoing child, you need to plan any trip/vacation early, much more so if during peak season. :)
So, you go back to your hometown every day. Lucky you. :D
@Willie,
ReplyDeleteGoing anywhere?
Most people can't wait for the holiday. Applied any extra leave?
Lol.. I can just afford to use vouchers I win.. Plus, it could be a good excuse not to waste.. If to just book a hotel for fun, maybe I'll wait until after the wedding.. :D
ReplyDelete@Angel,
ReplyDeleteReminded me of when Zaini and I just got married. We always find excuses to check-in to a hotel sometimes on a whim without any clothes to change. LOL
Cannot be so spontaneous (or shall we say horny?) nowadays already. XD
looking forward to the cny as well. talking abt working on sat, i work everyday while in sudan .... more sigh
ReplyDelete@Claudia,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info but at the moment I'll pass. :)
@Johnny,
ReplyDeletePoor you! Sudanese all so hardworking?
everyone is looking forward to the CNY holidays. i'll be going for a 3 week vacation in March and my bookings are all confirmed. yippee!
ReplyDelete@Life Ramblings,
ReplyDeleteWow! A three week vacation. Where are heading off to in March!
we'll be going on a free & easy trip to dubai, turkey, greece, italy, austria & russia. there's a lot of research to do and need to plan our itinerary well.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I look forward to for CNY is the long holiday so I can vegetate at home ... LOL!
ReplyDelete@Life Ramblings,
ReplyDeleteWah, what a nice trip that'll be. :)
Have fun researching and for the trip itself.
@Nick,
ReplyDeleteI wanna vegetate too. Complete vegetation process at a hotel. No need to think of housework. No cooking and no washing up. Bliss... :D
none of us celebrates CNY and we don't have the luxury of holidays here too =( I almost forgot about valentines day...been just occupied thinking of baby's arrival =P
