Fruit Of The Day

Ciplaking/copycating SK's post this time. He talked about eating watermelons to cool down in the hot weather we are experiencing right now.

For me, I've been craving for a different fruit. SK ate half a watermelon (@.@!) and I ate half of a pineapple after lunch.
What's left of the pineapple. Sliced nicely and sprinkle asam boi on top. Heavenly! Maybe I'll have some guava tomorrow? ^^

But of course, I'll still eat my banana. One banana each day makes toilet visits smooth and easy! Bwahaha... Oh! It's great energy food too.

Maybe I'll buy a big watermelon to share with son and hubby this weekend.

  4. And I love bananas! Try to eat a few bananas a day if I managed to buy lah. I find that it's the most convenient fruit to eat. No need to wash and to cut. Just peel and eat! Awesome : D

    1. I agree. Banana is the most convenient fruit to ea. No need to wash and peel. Don't drip with juice all over us either. ;)

  7. Here's your favourite linguistic nuisance with her usual question. What is asam boi? It's a salty citrus-y thing?

The best thing about summer in Tokyo is fruit! I just wish it wasn't so expensive, but watermelon, pineapple and bananas are all relatively affordable. Guavas? Very expensive. So-called soft fruit like peaches, apricots and grapes? Think Greek debt. :(

PS: Half a watermelon is very doable in Tokyo. Have you seen the size of our watermelons? Little round things. Or even little square ones, but nobody can afford them. ;)

    1. Not a nuisance at all. ^^

Asam boi is preserved sweet, sour plum.

You mentioning about summer fruits made me want to do another story about our visit to a budou gari. If those soft fruits is as much as a national debt, imagine the price here when it is imported. o.O

Those watermelons better be super sweet, that's all I can say! Aeon here sells crazy melons flown from Hokkaido at RM200 a fruit (the size of a softball) and there are actually people buying those. Crazy Japanese! xD

    2. Sweet and sour plum on pineapple? That sounds like a gorgeous combination!

I have no idea what those expensive watermelons taste like. I'd rather save my money for an airline ticket via Malaysia. :D Ordinary (smallish) watermelons cost ¥1000 to ¥2000, and - like most fruit in Japan - they're perfect and delicious.

PS: I would kill for cheap grapes. Really. Kill.

PPS: You know Pepsi releases crazy flavours in Japan? This summer's flavour is "salty watermelon". Link here.

    3. You know we runners down salt to replace the salt we lost while running & to avoid cramping? Salty watermelon sounds like a good drink before and after a run! LOL

Have you had a taste yet? For research purpose? ;p
