No Turning Back?
Booked my our flights tickets with AirAsia promo on Oct 29th; paying about RM150 per pax (taxes, seat selection, baggage fee, etc) :
Registered myself on the day the registration opens i.e. today. Early bird fee is RM50 cheaper than normal rate!
I've started my 18 weeks training plan this week. Actually, I have like 27 weeks but I'm taking into account the fact that life will get in the way of training so yeah... there's 9 weeks buffer weeks; just in case. Plus, I still want to enjoy at least one race a month (preferably 10K and above) between Jan to May.
The journey of me running so far saw me doing:
My first 10K race was in Sep 2011.
My first 21K race was in June 2012.
and...
My first 42.195K will hopefully be in May 2013.
It took me 6 months, after doing 4 races from Sep - Dec 2011 to start preparing for my first half-marathon; following a 9 weeks beginners' training plan then moved on to a 9 weeks' Intermediate plan.
I started my half-marathon training in Jan 2012; after doing my first 12K run at MPIB Run and wrapped up on the week of June 24th, the day of SCKLM 2012.
I'm taking about the same amount of time to prepare myself to move up from a 21K to a Full Marathon! Nervous? You bet! But it's good nerves.
For those thinking about going to Borneo International Marathon, here are some posts about them that you can read:

So yeah, I shouldn't and couldn't chicken out from doing this virginal Full Marathon in May next year. After all, spent a good chunk of $$$ for the race fee and airticket. All that's left for me to do is to train (and train smart + hard) for it... and book a nice hotel to stay in. ^^
Is Cititel Express a good choice - in term of location to race venue?

I was just at Eugene's post, reading his full marathon preparation. And now here, you are also preparing for it to happend in May 2013. Gambateh, lady.
ReplyDeleteEugene is doing the Penang Bridge in two weeks' time. I bet he'll do great runnging his first FM. :)
DeleteDon't know when my virgin 10KM run can happen. Now I run at speed 7mph for 45 minutes, also panting like hell.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the speed that's important... it's the spirit. :)
Deleteaiyo yan.. stop party.
Deletekakaka ..must concentrate and build your mental...
SP,
Deletecakap orang.
Bila mau pigi jogging lagi? ;p
Runners must have very healthy lungs in order to run otherwise they might collapse and kaput like some cases. I think Lina does heavy breathing exercises so often while screaming.....that is why so good runner.
DeleteIyer.... TM...
DeleteNeed to be so explicit here kah? I know you know enough lah.. don't tell people! wakaka
errr....me la...become fat cat enough la...i watch u run :p
DeleteMeow, dunno when can see you fat la... Everyday eat good stuff also so small size one. :-P
DeleteSo, you get to run, and you get to travel and have a short holiday. How good, right?
ReplyDeleteRunning holiday is probably the only way I can vacation in Malaysia.
DeleteHubby doesn't really like to travel "needlessly". We sampai Taiping also because I run mah.
Must find more outstation races so I can go holiday; Cuti-Cuti Malaysia. ;p
yeah, that is a smart consumer, killing two birds with one stone..
Deletelol .. you run cause you want a vacation .
Deletethat is a good one...
So I go for vacation cause I want to get myself tired..
In a way... true la. But if I go holiday because of I want to run in a race, all expenses I bear woh... Habis my $$$
DeleteOf all the states I choose KK as a very relaxing place with very delicious food everywhere! Their air is so fresh compared to KL with so much thick jungles of Borneo around KK. I love it like heavens. Lina try to hike Mt Kinabalu after the run. Your money will be well spent.
DeleteScared legs will be jelly after the run... can climb mountain ke? Climb other things boleh la! wakaka
DeleteActually, Zaini mentioned about climbing Mount Kinabalu. Next visit lor... Must train to naik gunung first... Panjat 22 floors like you. ^^
climb mount Kinabalu if not mistaken kena ada guide.
DeleteI am going to Perlis Kangar in next 2 weeks time. April is going for Ping Pong Tournament Tunas Muda under 10.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to April! :)
DeleteAll the bet and good luck..
Deletebecome the next Dato Nicole
Datuk April a/p Mak Yannie will be our future Sportswoman!!
DeleteKalahkan all the Chinese ping pong champion! Go go go April! :)
DeleteSo, I get to travel also. Heheheh!
ReplyDeleteSo you will go sightseeing there also? And look for good makan place? :)
DeleteAdoi....there got nothing to eat or see la. Better bring passport and cross the Thai border.
DeleteYan,
DeleteAjak TM also to cheer. Then ask him to be guide in Siam. ;p
Hebat!! Train well and all the best!
ReplyDeleteThanls KY. :)
DeleteHope to see you at the starting line soon. :) Next year perhaps? :)
Hope so.
DeleteI've just Googled Kota Kinabalu. Well, what else did you think I was going to do? :p Phew, it's a hot place.
ReplyDeleteGanbatte with the training. Go, jungle woman, go! ^^
KK is rather popular with Japanese tourists coming to Malaysia. MAS planes will be full of them if we opt to fly to Japan from KL and transit in KK. They would be stopping at KK, and usually bringing hiking gears. :)
DeleteSo... when are you trekking to this part of jungle?
You will see many orang utans in the jungles and some look like SP! Kakakakakakaka
DeleteSP,
DeleteBetter "bela diri"!!!! LOL
Wow! Good for it girl. Never a marathon runner but I have few friends who are into it now. For the fun and health benefits.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a marathoner too. Hopefully I can call myself that after this Borneo International Marathon. :)
DeleteKK!! Yay~ Lari-lari, cari makan again!
ReplyDeleteRM150 per pax is for to and fro?
ReplyDeleteSo reasonably cheap, ish, should ajak me to go together, gadis!
Of course going there for food marathon and not the 42KM(!!) running; I'll be dead by the time I reached the 3rd km, kakakaka!
DeleteEh, I thought the HHBC is going to organize something BIG for the 1st anniversary? KK is a good choice *wink*
DeleteYup, about RM150 return. OK kan? :)
DeletePromo still on what... go, book now. Ajak Yan also. ^^
RM150 return ok lah.. and besides the marathon, like yvonne said you can have food marathon too.. seafood are nice and cheap over there i heard..
DeleteCan buy pearl also. :D
Deleteanyone want?
yes I agree we go KK..
DeleteThe seafood there is so cheap....
don't go Sibu..
everytime eat kampua noodle only..
Right? Why eat kampua me when we can gorge ourselves silly with cheap seafood! LOL
DeleteThe fare is really cheap like hell. Good buy!
DeleteThe promo came out just nice, with the Borneo International Marathon registration that opens today. I was lucky. :)
DeleteKK got great seafood. can eat till lausai :p
DeleteByk mkb seafood takut kena gout. :-P
DeleteYou still have 6 months for training, gambatte neh!
ReplyDelete6 months is what I need to move from one category to the next. I follow a plan to avoid overtraining and injury.
DeleteI trained for 6 months too to do my first half-marathon. :)
yalah, take it slowly, after the full marathon what are you planning to achieve?? haha~~
DeleteYou know there ultra races in existence, don't you? 50k, 100k, 100miles... Trail run...:-D
Deletejust run and run and run...
Deletewow, so happy!! half a year to go and you've already booked for your trip to KK.. i've been talking about going to KK for like ages, and yet i have not stepped my foot on the land beneath the winds~~
ReplyDeleteRM150 per pax okay wah, consider that to be cheap tickets already, but then i think you'd be spending more in accommodation..
Deleteyalah... That's why thinking of staying at cititel express in kk. That one, company owned. Ada staff rate n I'll ask the hotel div GM here in HQ help w booking. :-)
Deleteyes!! finally you are doing the full marathon already!! congratulations on that progress, and all the best, you sure can do it lah.. is zaini joining you BTW??
ReplyDeleteit's good to set targets in stages, so you you have that satisfaction of achieving goals after goals.. this can be motivating..
Deletedunno whether he's entering and for which category. There's plenty of time to decide. I hv been setting ny eyes on this race for months...:)
DeleteGood luck & have fun!
ReplyDeleteI am still considering this one...
wooo... the air ticket now about Rm300+ per person, will wait and see then... :(
DeleteI booked my tickets before I registered for the race just to get the AA promo price. :-D
DeleteHoller if you are going! :-)
RM150 flight ticket is indeed cheap! Last year I stayed at Best Western Kinabalu Daya. It was okay la but great in terms of location. Race pack collection pun jalan kaki je, shuttle bus to Likas Stadium pun seberang jalan hotel tu je..and kedai kopi popular fook yuen, the sunday market..semuanya walking distance. Spitting distance actually hehe. Next year we're planning to stay at Gaya Center.
ReplyDeleteBut before that yayyy for your full marathon there! I will go for half, I'm pretty sure. FM mgkn tak masuk dalam jurnal larian kot haha.
Thanks for the link to my blog :)
Ok, will take these hotel into consideration. I guess better wait fir the shuttle bus pick up places to be confirmed first?
DeleteNever say never a outdoing a FM! I didn't think I'd consider doing it before but I got itchy after doing just a few of halfies. :-)
KK? Not Sibu kah? Sighhhh!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSibu mayor, organise a run there and I'll come over and visit. :-D
DeleteAll the best Kak Lina... Hopefully i'll b able to do my 2nd FM there too... Havent buy the ticket yet.... After this BIM 2013, U will be virgin nomore, marathoner, I mean... Hahaa... Train harder n collect more mileage ok..
ReplyDeleteGoosebumps already for this coming PBIM... Hopefully i wont hit the wall during my 1st attempt... Gambatehh kudasai!!
Am gonna be steady with the mileage I'm doing for the FM training. Quality over quality. ^^
DeleteAll the best and PBeeeeeeee at PBIM! ;p
Bought my air tix already for BKI... Still cheap, around rm229 altogether.. Nice bargain for my 2nd FM to be in BIM... Yayyy.. Must practice harder for this...
DeleteI intend to set the benchmark higher for my Maiden Marathon... Definitely my 1st PB for PBIM soon... Mai Kak Lina turun Penang bagi moral sapot to FMV like me... Neves2!!
Takmo bagi support... tak kuasa nak bangun awal to support! kakaka
DeleteAll the best. Remember, the main thing is you finish and you enjoy the run. Screw timing for the first time. xD
Take care.
Bila start taper? Ke dah start dah? Don't rack up too much mileage in these two weeks towards PBIM tau!
All the best! I'm still contemplating the BIM, but might give it a miss. Want to put all my training and effort for the SCKLM instead but see how la ... hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of bettering my HM time for SCKLM hence the decision to do the first FM in KK. xD
DeleteMana tau your wifey suddenly wants to go jalan-jalan to KK eh? The race is in between the Labour Day and wesak Day holiday what. ;p
May the force be with you! hehehe.. all the best Lina!
ReplyDeleteThanks Merryn! ^^
DeleteKK is a nice place. I like the Pulau Sapi.
ReplyDeletetrain well and hope you climb the mount kinabalu. I only managed to take the coach to view the Mount.
DeleteMount Kinabalu climbing will have to wait a few more years as I fully intend to drag Son along with us too. :-D
DeleteWoot! This is great news! XD You're doing FM here? XD I'm gonna do HM next year. My friend tired of doing FM already. But I'll convince him to join other FM weeeeeeeee. Anyways, never stayed at Cititel Express before, it's located around the city area. Food hunting should be easy there. Driving should take around 5-10 mins to Likas Sport Complex. See you there! :)
ReplyDeleteHM for BIM 2013? Ala.... But we'll cross path la kot once you u-turn and head back to the stadium, right? :-)
Deletehotel wise, I'm considering Cititel as it's my company owned hotel. Ada staff rate bah. :-D
I just hope the shuttle bus pick up point is near to Cititel!
Also, all the best at PBIM! :)
alamak...i thought you booking flight to Sibu :p
ReplyDeleteI dun wan kampua mee mah... LOL
DeleteKak Lina! I'm proud of you! (ok tau lambat lagi, but way to go Kakak!)
ReplyDeleteErma
Erma,
DeleteRunning Marathon is one thing. I need the good luck, the encouragement and wishes with the training too! So, thanks! :)
Pegi PBIM?
You are so into this marathon thingy! Gosh, I am proud of you. Go for it, Lina!
ReplyDeleteI'm doing it for fun, ECL. I am not that good at them but I love doing them! LOL
DeleteThanks! ^^
