Ninth Day of Ramadan : What's For Iftar?
Or for break fast? Buka puasa?
My family doesn't go overboard. We just eat like we always do for dinner. Simple.
We enjoyed a Malay fare, Nasi Kerabu a couple of times; bought from a makcik who lives 4 floors below my FIL. She sells Nasi Kerabu and Nasi Dagang at her stall during Ramadan.
We are not really fans of trying everything and anything at the Pasar Ramadan anyway.
For other days,
Something like this. Simple home cooked meals. One glance and I can't help think - carbo loading for race ke apa nih? Hahaha
Last night we had this. Love the RM9.90 Subway Ramadan month promo! I always do! ;-)
But maybe someday, I'll cook something nice...
I was drooling over Millie's pucuk paku masak tempoyak the other day. ;)
Anyway, just because we fast the whole day doesn't mean we need to fill up our dining table with food that may just go to waste after that!

Totally agreed, breaking fast n sahoor doesnt have to be lavish, full with lots of food on the table. It's a month to abstain gluttony and be grateful with our rezeki coz there are many unfortunate people out there that didnt have enough food to eat on daily basis...
ReplyDeleteYezza, simple is more, as long as we are full and can perform our prayers... Kenyang sangat konpom tarawikh burnt, liat nak pergi coz penat makan... Mihmihmih... Happy 9th Ramadhan Sis! Keep on training... =D
We tend to forget when it comes to food and the over abundance of it especially at pasar ramadan kan? And partly due to culture. ;)
DeleteSedap pulak dada ayam kat atas tuh.... Miamm
ReplyDeleteConcentrate concentrate.
DeleteIni sebenarnya bukan post suruh tengok gambar ayam! HAHAHA
Heh heh! Your food made me drool again. It is near lunch time now.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a nice lunch. :)
DeleteYesterday I bought the dinner from Pasar Ramadan and told wife that I will take a break. You know why? Anay got carried away and overbought every time. The crowded place and lovely smell was so tempting. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat Sarimah made a interview on the Power Poh Piah sold there and I had to go and try too. The queue was so damn long. The taste was just very different from other Poh Piah. I didn't feel its Power inside. Wakakakaka
DeleteSubway may not be cheap but it is always very shiok and fulfilling for me! Slurrps!
DeleteSubway Ramadan promo quite OK la. RM9.90 got half-foot long sub, got cookie and got mineral water also. I likey. ^^
Deleteadei...i belum makan lagi leh duno what to eat...so lazy...ingat maggi aje la

ReplyDeleteHahaha
DeleteJust to "kacau" you.
No makan post tomorrow. Promise. :-)
nah, don't get me wrong.. i will LIKE whatever things people share with me lah, so you are most welcome to post whatever you like, food ke, running ke, family bond ke, Islam ke.. just anything, so that i can learn a lot from a different background..
DeleteAnd I want to do something that is not confined to food this puasa month. Or be overly religious.
DeleteThought of doing more contemplative posts. We'll see how it progresses. :-)
you have like 30 days, sure you will have either too many to share, or too little to blog about for the whole month, hahahaha!! :D
Deleteand you guys sure will get bored commenting/spamming here daily.
DeleteGuess must bribe a bit to promote more interest here. Lol
i totally agree with you that although you fast the whole day but that doesn't mean you need to fill up your dining table with food that may just go to waste after that.. instead, this should be the way, even more "humble" and "pauper" during this holy month right??
ReplyDeleteSK,
Deleteyou got it right!
i memang always a cleber student mah right?? geez LOL :D
Deletei actually like all the three photos above lah.. i feel like eating them!! hahahaha.. i love the rice with stir fried diced vege, and were those chicken or toufu in the first photo??
ReplyDeleteand you reminded me how long i have not had Subway already.. eih, how come?? maybe because i am trying to cut down carbs lah.. the RM9.90 ramadhan set actually i a good one, i will also order that.. i just love their cookies~~
DeleteOven grilled chicken breast. :-)
Deleteaiyoh, oven grilled chicken breast!! itu i banyak suka~~
Deletemuscle men, working out at gym all suka chicken breast right?
DeleteI saw this one recipe, chicken breast smoothie made by a muscley actor on TV once. *bluek*
I think you are right when you are breaking fast you should not overdo it. There is no reason to go overly lavish. Thank you for sharing this post.
