The Indulgent Parents
It's the school holiday. Year-end school holiday.
Son has no structured holiday activities. No holiday camps enrolled. No motivation camps or anything of the sort.
Mommy and Daddy do try to make sure he does something productive during this school holiday. But then, Mommy and Daddy aren't that serious making him do "useful" stuff.
He gets to play with his computer a LOT, I'm ashamed to admit.
Though sometimes Mommy tried to make him do other stuff. Like drawing. He likes to draw. ^^
Mommy and Daddy even allowed him to play this.
Once a week. One time. One play. Twice, if it's a treat.
We are too darn relaxed with our child, I know. Ah well...
relax parents!! it's school holidays and it's meant to be a break for the kids.. so why need to torture them and give them stress?? let them enjoy the break, as long as it's not something that would hurt themselves, let them go~~ :p
ReplyDeleteLast time, we also got hurt and that's how we know what's dangerous and what's not. :-P
Deletei always believe that if you pull a rubber band too much, it will break.. though flexible yet there is still a limit, we would just relax and not go too far.. and also like flying the kite, sometimes you pull a bit and sometimes you let go, only then the kite will soar higher.. and i think our Mak Glam surely buy-in this~~ :)
ReplyDeleteI apply that rubber band philosophy for the hubby too! ;-)
Deletethinking back, i do not have "structured" plans for my school holidays too.. i wonder what i did staying at home all the time to get time to pass.. remember, no computer during that time, hahaha!!
ReplyDeletebut nowadays, you are flooded with all sorts of expensive school holiday programs for the kids and all parents seems to be enrolling their kids into one of them. O.O
DeleteI will bring my son for a short vacation by end of December. But in a meantime, I let my boy enjoy educational programmes in TV and a little bit of homework given by me. Huhu.
ReplyDeleteWillie, I have serious problem la as I could never leave comments in your blog one. Why ah??? Kena blocked ka?
DeleteBalanced holiday yes, Willie?;-)
DeleteFuyoh! Your son looked so hensem and gaya pakai tu headphone like a DJ spinning his music over radio! Peeewiit! You should send him to music camps and someday he could be screeching like Pavoratti or Deejaying over Radio!! It runs in your Glam family la.
ReplyDeletehe wasn't listening to music, Anay. He was listening to a video tutorial ;-)
DeleteI thought you let him play Pachinko! Muahahahaha
ReplyDeleteI still play arcade games sometimes esp racing cars but I almost never play FB games or online games anymore. My era over la.
if gor pachinko here, the daddy yang play! LOL
DeleteDuring my time, holiday classes or motivation camps were unheard of. It was climbing trees, playing kites or balik ke Negara Siam. These days business minded classes clever to milk the kiasu parents la. Mak Glam sure has the best ways to let him relax and rejuvenate. We all survived well without frills.
ReplyDeleteWe all survive and survive well, agree ;-)
DeleteBut now, don't you think parents feel differently about leaving their kids without much to do? :/
No need kan cheong too much as raimir have his head screwed on correctly. I still remember you posted about his homework where he comment that to allow him to make his own mistakes. Thiseans he know how to apportion his time la
ReplyDeleteAiyoh... But kids... Leave him be, later waste the whole time dunno do what :-D
DeleteYes kids need time to relax too. Don't burden them with too much stuff. Then only they will enjoy the holidays.
ReplyDeleteYes, Wenn :-)
DeleteYou're back already?
Is a holiday, give him a break right?
ReplyDeleteBut your son gets lots of homework? ;-)
DeleteRaimie plays Animal Kaizer too? Taiping here only have Evo 4. Yesterday I brought my son to play it too.
ReplyDeleteEvo 6 in KL
DeleteI heard the Kidzania is ideal for kids to experience and learn new things, even can act so many dream jobs too... But sure expensive one hor... Hehee... Been longing to go there but too old already hahaa... I was surprised upon seeing the entrance fee for a kid aged 4-17, it's RM60, while for adult aged 18-59, it's just RM35! @.@
ReplyDeleteIt's"cheap" for adults because the adults are to accompany kids, not try out the"jobs" there! :-P
DeleteHahaa.. can the adults try out the dream jobs too? I didnt have this opportunity when I was a little kid... My parents couldn't afford to bring us around back then...
DeleteBut i still remember we went to East Coast on a convoy with my aunts and uncles... Big family... Long long time ago... Cuti2 Malaysia... =)
The queue for kids pun already long for the jobs, klu adult pun try sekali, nak siap 5jobs kena take 1 whole day waiting la kot! O.O
DeleteI get my son to attend extra classes this few weeks at his kinder. At least he gets to do some revision and learn new activities in art and craft work.
ReplyDeleteNo ar, no homework already. Waiting for Primary 1 next year.
ReplyDeleteso revision for Standard 1 in order? ;-)
DeleteWhere got so fast.. But reading and practice in Maths is my son routine. Not everyday lar. Hopefully when he is in Kebangsaan school, boleh fasih dalam Bahasa Melayu.
ReplyDeleteGood lah.
DeleteI suppose extra Mandarin classes in weekend? My friends who send their kids to SK, do that. At least can master three languages well. At minimum.
Isn't the point of a holiday to ... do nothing? ^^
ReplyDeleteEver heard of tiger mommies? Notorious in this part of the world.
DeleteWhaddya mean, do nothing???? :-P
