Road To Powerman
Powerman Asia Duathlon Championships – Malaysia 2016 will be held in two weeks' time.
On March 6th, 2016 in Putrajaya to be exact.
This year will be my first Powerman but I'm only doing the Powerman Classic Relay with a cyclist. It's a 10K run - 60K cycle - 10K run and I'll do both the running leg. Dunno what got into me when I signed up. Was confident in doing both legs previously but after a lazy-bum three weeks no run mileage, I'm a tad worried about finishing in a decent time. Huhuhu
Anyways, my friends had been doing the bricks training since the last few weeks to prepare to Powerman and I thought I'd tag along for their running session after they did their 60K cycle as I wanted to recce the race route and do some heat training too as the second running leg that I'll do will be at around 10.00 - 11.00am.
In case you are wondering, Bricks refer to training on two disciplines during the same workout, one after the other with minimal or no interruption in between and in this case; bike/run workout.
The training is a treat too, as I rarely train with others so it was a chance to meet up with friends outside of race events.
We did two loops and although we started the run rather late at around 11.00am and the second loop at almost noon, we were blessed with a breezy, sunny morning so the heat was bearable.
Those who had signed up for Powerman is sure training hard to prepare as PoJ (Palace of Justice) was brimming with cyclists and runners during the weekend doing the Powerman route. Even KJ was spotted training!
I need to do one last training this weekend and maybe I'll do a couple of loops on Saturday, after running in the Shamrock Run which will be held in Taman Botani, Putrajaya with my family.
I'm hoping to go support friends who are doing the Gunung Nuang Ultra on Sunday so don't think I want to run at noon on Sunday too.
Looks like another busy weekend outdoors again! ^^
That reminds me... I think I need to stock up on my Moolabar stash! Not only I have Powerman in two weeks' time, I signed up for Bukit Jalil Half Marathon (which actually is a 22.5K race) the week after!

You are a busy runner. I admire you for that.
ReplyDeleteJust having fun. :)
DeleteIs that sooo..Powerman eh. I'm seeing quite a number of people running but wearing cycling suits in my neighbourhood. I thot they were preparing for a triathlon.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you!
Geng tri sibuk training powerman la tu...
DeleteTenkiu. :)
Dang...I have not trained for Powerman yet. Die...heat training.
ReplyDeleteAiyoh, you are consistently training.
DeleteI've been a sloth. Huhu
ooh, you are going to do both the 10K legs..
ReplyDeletei wonder if you will be starting off from when you finished off?? or you will be transported 60K away to start off your second leg??
Starting will be at the same place. We start at the transition/start/finish area. :)
Deletehuh.. that's what "Brick" means..
ReplyDeletea friend of mine uses the term "Circuit" in the gym to mean the same thing for cardio/weight..
Brick is used by triathletes for their training - run/bike, swim/bike etc...
DeleteI thought of you while I was jogging yesterday. I could hardly jog 2 rounds in the neighbourhood park before my legs start telling my brain that they are tired so please stop. But I thought of you and pushed myself further. I managed 5 rounds. I don't know how many kms I covered (for all I know it is just a tiny park) but it felt good especially after all the CNY feasting :D
ReplyDeleteWahhhhh bagus ni. :)
DeleteCome join me n eve for a race soon, ya?
Thanks for the explanation on the terms. Lol....else i will scratch head what is Brick.
ReplyDeleteAll weekends fully booked. ☺
That means you are only doing the running part and not the cycling?
