A Family Day Out At FMM MAFMAG ActivRun 2019

At the end of June, our family joined the Milo Breakfast Day Run with Hubby's siblings.

On Sunday at FMM MAFMAG Activrun 2019, my siblings and their kids joined me for a 5K run!

The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers Malaysian Food Manufacturing Group (FMM MAFMAG) had organised a charity run, in collaboration with MyKasih Foundation. It was open to all avid runners as well as families, the FMM MAFMAG ActivRun had plenty of activities lined up such as Zumba, clowns and fun games with a Giant Bubble.
Proceeds from the run will be channeled to MyKasih Foundation’s ‘Love My Neighbourhood’ food aid programme to help provide families from the Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) communities with essential food items.

As it was for a good cause, I had been promoting this event rather heavily for the past few weeks.

Although participation from runners were not as big as some big name runs out there,  the turnout was still pretty decent, mainly in the 5K category despite so many other races happening around town the same weekend.

There were individual categories and also family categories available, making the event a great run for the whole family to participate in and that's why I encouraged my siblings to join the run.

A pity though that this wholesome family run didn't manage to attract family-centric running clubs to join as there were none to be seen.
The 10K category was flagged-off at 7.00am and the 5K was flagged-off 15 minutes later.
Despite its "smallish" scale participation, I couldn't fault its route safety management.

Cones were placed along the route.

There were plenty of marshalls and crews along the route too.
We collected our race kit before the run (of course la kan) and got these pretty generous goodies in our goodies bag.
And an equally generous refreshments after the run!

That's the stash from pre-race and post-race.

We also enjoyed Minion ice creams and bananas, apart from a hot pasta meal courtesy from Prego which were cooked on site.

We stayed around for the lucky draw session. There were about 35 hampers to be won alas we didn't win anything this time.

A friend of ours managed to win two hampers as she and her son numbers got picked. So lucky!

Anyhoo, some photos taken at the race has been uploaded and can be viewed at our Facebook page Cik Arnab & En Kura-Kura.

  2. What a coincidence! My young nephew from in-law's side suddenly wants to ajak me to join him to run together now. All because of my big mouth for reading your blogs about running in Japan. I told this nephew that he could join me someday if I ever run in Japan like you to see the countryside and go to onsen. How ah??
