CSR Tree Planting Activity At FRIM In Conjunction With The 62nd ISI WSC 2019
As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility awareness, the Department of Statistics (DOSM), Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM) and Institute of Statistics Malaysia (ISM) organised a tree-planting activity in conjunction with the 62nd ISI World Statistics Congress (ISI WSC) 2019 at the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) in Kepong.
The ISI WSC 2019 will be held from 18 to 23 August in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and will see a gathering of the statistical community from around the world.
The participants include both local and international delegates of the 62nd ISI WSC 2019.
The CSR Tree-Planting exercise was officiated by YBhg. Dato' Sri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin, Chief Statistician Malaysia and Chairman of National Organising Committee for the 62nd ISI World Statistics Congress 2019.
Participants of the tree-planting exercise were divided into 3 groups, according to the ribbons that they were given upon registration - purple, red and yellow group.
The core objective of the tree-planting activity is to curb environmental damages as well as to support the Green Malaysia campaign by off-setting part of the carbon footprint caused by rapid development all around us.
A total of 40 saplings made up of native Malaysian jungle flora species were planted to commemorate this event.
Briefing about the saplings planted, before participants each get a chance to do it themselves, which was very informative.
It had been ages since I last hold a "cangkul" and I get to do it today! Plus, I get to "test-drive" my new trail shoes today. I bought it recently for next week's The Magnificent Merapoh Trail because I don't think any of my old trail shoes can withstand the trail next week.
The exercise will surely contribute to greater public awareness on the importance of forest restoration and preservation of biodiversity which are priceless national treasures.
There will be another fun activity held in conjunction with the ISI WSC 2019 tomorrow, which is the World StatsRun 2019. All the best to all participants!
Thank you to everyone involved for a fun, informative and eye-opening activity today.
