Conquering The Night At Besraya Highway Challenge

After two editions of Besraya Highway Challenge in 2017 and 2018, the run is back with a new distance and time.

You can read our first two Besraya Highway Challenge experiences here:
For 2019, Besaya Highway Challenge had upped the ante and increased the distance. From 6K and 13K categories in previous editions, the run offered 26K, 13K and 26K Relay this year. Also, from a morning run, Besraya Highway Challenge is changed to a night run.
Plenty of changes and challenges for runners as experienced by our two friends, Ejah and Odah.

Getting to the race site was easy using public transportation. The Ampang Line LRT extended its service until 2am at selected LRT stations. Opting for either the LRT or MRT is also a pretty convenient way to get to the race which was what Ejah and Odah did.
Flag-off for 26K was delayed from the original 9.00pm to 9.15pm due to downpour. The 13K was flagged-off later at 9.40pm.
Massive crowd at the run!

Despite so many races happening the same weekend, there was a huge turnout at Besraya Highway Challenge.
The highway route can be a bit mental even during the day, so a run there at night can be twice as challenging. But at least, runners did not need to contend with the morning sun.

Did it feel eerie for you, running on a highway at night? ;)

There were plenty of water stations along the route but no ice to make mineral water and 100-Plus cold.
The sign that made 13K runners thankful that they only signed-up for 13K and not 26K. Can habis cepat already. LOL
But of course, it's so nice to run on a fully closed-off highway, and the road was reserved just for runners.

Plaza toll ahead and this time, no need to pay toll!

And reaching the Plaza Yoke Yew toll was also a welcome sight to those who are finishing the run, right?

Route wise - it's rolling and provided enough challenge to suit any runner, and plenty of u-turns to either make you mental and curse or feel happy to see other runners on the other side of the road. Hahahah
The finish line was well marked for the 13K runners who needed to do only 1 loop and the 26K runners who needed to continue on and do another loop.

Much respect to the 26K runners!

But sorry, no Besraya Highway Challenge photos this time!
