Shopping For The Festive Season

Come Oct 1, we Muslims will celebrate Aidil Fitri (Eid ul-Fitri) after a month of fasting in the month of Ramadhan. It is celebrated on the first day of Syawal (the tenth month of the Islamic calendar). On this day Muslims show their real joy for the health, strength and the opportunities of life, which Allah has given to them to fulfill their obligation of fasting and other good deeds during the blessed month of Ramadan.

What to do prior to the Holidays? Shopping, of course! This is the time when there will be a heaving crowd at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Masjid India, but that does not deter us from doing our shopping there! We mostly come here for our Baju Melayu & Baju Kurung, both traditional Malay attires to wear of the first day of Syawal.

Most of my friends will be going back to their respective hometowns this weekend, so KL should be quiet next week. Us? We'll celebrate the 1st day of Syawal in Kuala Lumpur and will only head back to Raub on the 2nd day of Syawal.

For those going back to your respective hometowns, drive carefully and safely! Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, Maaf Zahir Batin.
