I Like Photos

My narcissistic self absolutely adore looking through all these running events photos and will be quite chuffed upon chancing any photo of me running; ugly or otherwise.
Credit to Lau Eng Kiat for the photo. Taken nearby Maharajalela Monorail Station, at around 6.45-6.55am.
Credit to Tey Eng Tiong for these photos. I chuckled every time I looked at these. I was trying to worm my way between the guy in blue official vest on my left and the guy wearing the orange Nike Run shirt on my right and overtake them, hence the grimace. Notice how serene that fellow lady half-marathoner on my right looked?

Notice my bulgy looking skirt? Skirt pockets were laden with... get this:
1. wads of tissue paper, neatly stuffed into a plastic case so that it won't absorb all my sweat
2. 2 energy gels (that I didn't even use)
3. One banana
4. Handphone
5. 1 tube of coffee flavoured energy tablet (caffeine overload! Woo!)
6. IC
7. Cash

Anyways, I made the same impatient grimace almost at the finish line because two guys blocked my way and made me slow down. People are chasing their PB, you know! Ugly photos be damned! heh heh
By the way, the official results are out. Runners - checked your ranking yet? If you haven't go check it ouy at SCKLM website. Me, ranked 266. Not to shabby for first foray into 21K distance. ^^ Plus, judging from the lady who ranked 255, with bib no. 10675; there should be at least 675 Women Open runners that day. Boleh la... update : for those who cares to know, there were 1,290 runners in Women Open category. ;p

p.s. for those who are bored to tears reading about this SCKLM 2012 race... rejoice. This should be my last post on it... well, last unless I find other stuff to repeat over and over again here. It's hard to stop yapping about something you enjoy, you know. heh heh

Thank you for reading. <3 <3 <3

  14. wow, not bad not bad, ranked 266 among the 1290 participants!! but i wonder, how many really go for the run?? or they just registered for the shirt?? :D

    1. Wei! You think it's free ah?

Anyways, SCKLM is a much awaited race and feature very much prominently in runners calendar. Sure got people who DNS lah... but most of us, if possible (dying is one of the reasons) - will try and make it to the starting line. Serious.

      Delete
    2. Plus, if they don't run also, there are actually a lot of takers (and buyers) for their bib from those who didn't manage to register.

Some people do register, keep the vest and either sell/donate the bib to other runners so that those runners can run "legally".

For others, there's Ipoh International Run this week.

Then, there' Men's Health & Shape Run in Putrajaya, McD Run, BHP Orange Run, etc in July. Running calendars in KL are quite packed actually. ^^

  20. 266 out of 1290? Eeeh! Sugoi!

I hope you don't stop writing about it. I may know nothing about marathons, but I do know this one runner, and it's rather nice to read about her running. ^^

  21. PS: I've just noticed you run with glasses. Isn't that irritating? I'm asking because my glasses sometimes irritate me when I'm hiking. (I can't wear contacts. My eyes are too dry.)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Same here. Can't wear contacts anymore because of dryness.

I wear a spectacles with no nose pad. So it is not as irritating as frames with nose pads. It doesn't slid either. The problem for me now though, I can't find similar pairs sold in any shops in KL.(I've had this for 3 years!) Paris Miki staff told me I can get them... in Europe! @.@

p.s. position 266? I wish I did better and not run at that pedestrian pace. Boo to self!

      Delete
    2. Specs without a nose pad? You know what I did, don't you? I Googled, and ... I found this! Made in Japan! Forget about Europe, just get your butt back here asap. Is that the kind of glasses you're talking about?

      Delete
    3. Position 266 isn't OK? o_0 I'd be celebrating with champagne if I just completed the first 5 km ... walking! :D

      Delete
    4. Err.... looks almost the same but what's that weird things on the handle?

(plus can I be snooty and mention mine is an Armani specs? ;p )

I thought you do 5K walking, easy? On daily basis? Wow.... champagne everyday... with chocolate coated strawberries? ;p

      Delete
    5. Oh, well, Armani, OK, I'll shut up now. ;)

I couldn't figure out the weird handle thingies either. It looks like temple pincers!

Now you know why I eat so much chocolate. It's a good incentive to keep walking! :)

      Delete
    6. After surviving a 21K race with just a Kitkat for breakfast, I am following your philosophy on chocolates! They are sustenance for life LOL

Keep walking Rurousha! But keep the Johnnie Walkers low. ;p
