More Food Hankering

and I want to eat these...
a lot of these awesome pickled fruits. I actually asked Zaini when we can go back to his hometown in Marang, Terengganu because I wanted to go to Pasar Payang and hoard these.

That or head over to Penang. Sad to say though, Penang Bridge International Marathon is still a no go for me. Uhuk!

Plus, I want to eat this too, despite the heat

    1. it's kelubi.

      Scientific name = eleiodoxa conferta

English name = have absolutely no idea.

BTW, Rurousha, if you are reading this - think of umeboshi. Sour, salty & sweet ones.

Raimie and Zaini loves both of them (kelubi & umeboshi). ^^

    2. Thank you for anticipating my question! :D Wikipedia says it's "commonly called kelumi or asam paya", so it looks as if we've just hijacked your word!

I never knew there were so many different kinds of fruit in the world!

    3. To further make you feel intrigued, there's another fruit that we love that might be a tad unusual. Nice to eat as is or pickled too. It's called buah salak or snake fruit. ;p

    4. Why is it called snake ...

Wait a bit. OK, goddit. Its skin looks like a snake's! :D The fruit itself looks a bit like a lychee.

      Taste?

  3. are they only available in Terengganu and Penang?? you can't find these from that snack shop in MV where you just go in for free samples?? :D

    1. MV or other shopping malls of course sell them. But seriously, more fun to buy them at the market in which they are famous for.

Plus, with the cutthroat prices of these jeruk here, might as well make a trip, have a vacation and hoard those jeruk back home.
