Yuki, Sakura, Ume And A Bit Of Ame Too
This is a post for Yvonne who commented in Rurousha's blog that she wants to see cherry blossom and some snow too! Fret not Yvonne. You can experience both in a single visit and you don't have to travel that far to see them or visit Japan during winter for your winter wonderland.
I managed to see both (and then some) in 2008, during our vacation to the country in late March.
Yuki/snow in Gala Yuzawa, a mere 90 minutes' train trip from Tokyo on the shinkansen.
Wheee!!!
Sakura/cherry blossom at Ueno Park.
Gosh! We were so young then! Bwahaha!!!
Even got to see some ume (plum) blossoms which usually comes out before the sakura; in Kanazawa.
At Kenrokuen, to be exact. ^^
And not forgetting, a whole lot of ame/rain! A wet experience down under, in Kyushu.
Fun in the rain, in Kitakyushu. Seriously strong wind in action, as can be witnessed by the state of our umbrella.
Pity, there's no way to fit in a "koyo" experience too in that visit.
This is also a jealousy inspired post. Twilight Man had some posts up about his trip to Japan (Osaka, Kyoto and Nara) and I am sooooo envious of him!!! LOL
p.s. I'm showing my photos with the dates on them as a proof that you can experience a bit of winter and a bit of spring in one trip. ^^
And you can do autumn and winter trip at the same time too. View the magnificent colours of autumn and feel snow falling all around you. That we experienced last year. ^^

I lagi envy you for making multiple trips to Japan. Your hubby is a Samurai ka?
ReplyDeleteyalor, i've not even been to Japan for once after living so many years in this Earth.. this lady has already gone there for countless times~~
DeleteHubby = Samurai perasan. muahaha
DeleteI lagi envy the two of you. Got jalan -2 everywhere already. TM already round the world some more.
I only go to Asian countries. That also long time already. These days only go to Japan. hu~
OMG! You really looked like a skool gal...so young dei...

Butthole always got wrinkles one! Ops!

ReplyDeleteAnay, i thought you've always been running?? what about all those chasing Letchumi around the bushes and coconut trees??
DeleteYalor, in Hindustan/Tamil movies sure got a lot of running. So fit lah those people. Kakaka
DeleteSo you & Thambee run around coconut trees together with Letchumi and Kamala ah? xD
So you could mix a cocktail trip with Autumn and Winter thrown in with cherry blossoms? How cleber gal!
ReplyDeleteSave cost mah. hahaha
DeleteGuess where I plan to go next?
ReplyDeleteI will visit Japan again next year and hopefull the 2-Day Unlimited Pass is still available. I wanna see more places. So shiok!
ReplyDeleteYou kena bit by Japan bug already! Once gone, still want to come back otherwise itchy! haha
DeleteGet the 7 days JR pass lah. Go crazy with it. Travel from Kyushu all the way to Hokkaido in 7 days. It can be done. Sleep in trains to save more $$$. xD
Good idea! ... I scared of radiation areas.... Luckily I didn't glow yet.
DeleteYou worry too much. If you scared of radiation way down below in Osaka and the radiation is actually way up in Fukushima, then all those living in South Korea & Taiwan (and tourists too) should be equally worried. Seriously.
Delete8 comments now....people may think I am retarded.
ReplyDeleteIf 8 comments makes you retarded, then what does that make me, with my 10 comments over at SK's? LOL
DeleteYeah that over 10 comments is Gila.
Deleteyup.. cherry blossom in Japan is called Sakura.. hhaha learned that from anime LOL
ReplyDeletegosh the cherry trees are very much alike with the one being shown in anime .. so cute
ReplyDeleteHave to be same lah... Otherwise it would be a crime for the lovely cherry blossoms to be misrepresented. ;p
DeleteIf there's one thing in my life that I would love to experience is to witness a snow... hehe
ReplyDeleteIt was fun, until it got too cold. Haha
DeleteGala Yuzawa!!! Wheee! You went to Yuzawa!
ReplyDeletePS: You don't look any different now! Your hair is just a bit shorter. What's your secret? Running? You mean to tell me I have to start running to remain young? Eek. Suddenly wrinkles look very attractive! :-p
Long shot. No close up. That's the secret of nice and errr... young looking photos. ;p
DeleteLong shot and out of focus! I'll remember that one! ^^
DeleteYou have always been a fast leaner, my student. hahaha!!!
DeleteRain, plum blossoms, cherry blossoms and snow. Gotta love Japan. :D
ReplyDeleteYup. Nothing beats Japan, in my book.
DeleteAnd I'll forgive Japan for the brutal August heat too. ^^
August = fireworks festivals, so August is OK too! Actually.
DeleteWoman!
DeleteDon't you have anything negative to say about Japan for long? Rant woman rant!
p.s. Now I think I understand the Hero. xD
LOL
Just write about mamacharis and parasols and hear me howl! :-p
DeleteThough ... mamacharis are better than SA taxis and parasols, well, at least they provide an opportunity for me to vent my spleen. (^o^)
Imagine how you and The Hero can complain about my relentless Japan devotion during your next visit! ^^
wow wow wow.. so mid to late march is the best time to go Japan?? hmmm, thanks for the recommendation.. gotta see both the snow and sakura in one trip!! cool~~
ReplyDeleteYup,I think that's the best time. Not the peak of cherry blossoms but hey! there are blossoms to be seen! ;p
Deleteaiyah, cannot lah, you always talk about going to Japan.. i must seriously plan for my Japan trip already.. somemore Twilight said he just spent less than RM2500 for his trip to Osaka and Kyoto!!!
ReplyDeleteAfter your HK and Macau trip then do a rombongan with Thambee there.
DeleteBut, will you enter the sento with him? ;p
fuyoh, 4 years back and Raimie is just a little peanut, haha, so cute!! not even schooling yet right?? of course the mother also as young as a gadis lah~~ :p
ReplyDeleteHe was 6.
DeleteHis Mommy was only 2 years into her 30s. So young. *sob sob*
wakaka
hahaha, i like that family photo!! so sweet all squeezing under one little umbrella.. but i think raimie was quite cold huh but forced to stand still and take photo!! kesian lah :D
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't so much as cold as it was windy. Mary Poppins fly with umbrella windy. xD
Deletegadis you should have taken photo with the sakura flower side by side, so that we know you are even prettier than the flower~~ :D
ReplyDeleteDon't want lah. Later you all say how come I don't look as pretty as the flower! LOL
DeleteI hate you, Lina, for this entry~~
ReplyDeleteso bad lah you!
DeleteI dedicate you a post and you hate me pulak! LOL
You just made me green with envy, by looking at the snow, sakura and rain. Hmpf!!
ReplyDeleteLook at rain also want to envy ah? xD
DeleteThinking on the positive side, you wrote this for me.... awww, this gadis so sweet T3T
ReplyDeleteI like to see snow, touch it and make "angel" shape by out of it. And I really like the name "yuki". Is yuki for male of female? I guess it's gender neutral :D
I got a female colleague whose "English" name is Yuki.
DeleteI also have a friend who lived in Japan for 15 years and put "Yuki" as part of their son's name. ^^
I like sakura too, although not as much as I like yuki~
ReplyDeleteI was exposed to other beautiful flowers in Ru's blog and keep wondering, why sakura is the most popular flower in Japan. How about wisteria? iris? hydrangea? They deserve the compliments too!
Sakura got the hanami thing going on mah...
DeletePlus its fleeting beauty, fast to be gone; made it more prized. I think lah... hehehe
Ume sakura? The ume as in the one we have in onigiri? That ume?? Sorry, I'm confused~~ :p
ReplyDeleteUme = plum.
DeleteSakura = cherry blossom.
And yes, that ume. ;)
So, March is the best month to travel to Japan!
ReplyDeleteRaimie grows vertically and Zaini grows horizontally. He was much much slimmer in year 2008. This gadis, however, maintains the same :)
*mumble, must be the running, must be the running, no doubt...
Hahaha!!! Kan???
DeleteI've been telling Zaini to get in better shape for ages! That time in 2008 (and 2009) he went to gym. Now, the only workout he did was jalan-jalan while waiting for me finish my run. ;p
I maintain kah? Heee... You sure know how to make me happy. ^^
lina, I actually like the way you keep fit. I am a person who like exercise too. I go to gym 3times a week. I run on the threadmil for 1 hour every time, and lift some weight after that. Lucky you, been to Japan so many times.
ReplyDeleteHi-five. Last time I frequented the gym also, 5 times a week some more... but no more now. Booohoooo.....
DeleteLucky you, got sponsored trip to Korea! ;)
I want to visit Korea too!!!!
wow..lovely Japan..I must go there one day!
ReplyDeleteI thought you've visited Japan already? :)
DeleteI been to jpn for 4 times n I have not see cherry blossom b4...
ReplyDeleteSad case..
So make a fifth time. hihihi
DeleteI have been trying for the past 3 years to catch the Sakura season in Japan but each time, something cropped up. :(
ReplyDeleteHope the next planning works.
Hope so too! :)
Deletewhat a happy Family :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. ^^
