First Day Of Puasa
As with last year, it was easy to wake Raimie up for sahur. Since it's the weekend, we went out to McD (of all places!) for our sahur there. Mommy had quarter pounder, Daddy had Big & Tasty and Raimie had cheeseburger. Eating those at 5.00am! We are so unhealthy!
On the way to McD, Mommy kept an eye out for her pre-dawn running route but looks like the route she did on weekends last year may not be suitable this year. Construction sites sprouting up, stray dogs and stray Mat Rempits too! Safety first! Guess the apartment car park will have to do for the time being. Maybe I'll make friends with the "aci" who always goes out for a morning walk at 4.30am and follow her. ;p
By noon, Raimie was already whining about being hungry and thirsty so Mommy had to remind him that it's not good to whine about that and coaxed him to occupy himself with lots of activities (watching TV doesn't count).
At 5.00pm we decided to went to Bandar Tun Hussein Onn to check out the Pasar Ramadhan there and buy some groceries at Carrefour. Anyway, may need to go to Mydin tomorrow and get Raimie a new prayer mat. ^^
A whole lot of people!
Colourful array of drinks. We bought our soya drink from our regular soya bean uncle in front of the Toto shop instead. ;p
I wanted to take more photos but wasn't feeling comfortable doing it so well, just these three shots from Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Pasar Ramadhan. We bought an ayam bakar and RM6 of siput sedut from this stall. Man, things are getting pricier and pricier these days...
I think I'll just cook for buka puasa next week.
I think I'll just cook for buka puasa next week.
Wah! I had a good laugh that your first meal of Ramadhan was at McDonalds!! I bet there were many others too, no worries about being unhealthy. Just relax and be happy la.
ReplyDeleteAt that hour, either it's the 24hour McD or Mamak or... cook myself. ;p
Deleteeh so early McD got serve that ah? I though only breakfast sets.
DeleteDuring puasa month, normal lunch & dinner sets sold at 4.30am. Takde normal breakfast sets before sahur time.
DeleteOoo very familar ah you LOL...
DeleteGood also. When I hungry I can go cari McD.
We go McD once a week for sahur last year, after I finish my 1 hour run nearby. ^^
Deleteyeah, having McD at 5:00am!! that's maybe really the best thing you can do in your life huh?? hahahahaha~~
DeleteIf that's the best, then my life must have been really sa so far. hu~
Deletenah, you think about it, not many people can wallop one quarter pounder at 5:00am lah, hahaha~~ :D
Deleteit takes practise. years and years of practise. Miahaha!!!
DeleteMcd is easy at this hour..
DeleteThen it will b troublesome to cook at this hour..
I'll still cook on weekdays as going out to eat will take more time (for the boys) and that means less sleep! ;p
Deletejust cook more for dinner the night before.. then save them for sahur the next morning.. good idea??
DeleteI'm not in the habit of reheating food and storing it in the fridge. ;p
DeleteThe earliest I went for McD was 6.30am... and I was cursing my hubb for waking me up so early!
DeleteBoth my kiddos, on the other hand were overjoyed @_@
Kids sure suka one... my son also like that. Wake him up so early also never mind because can go to McD. Haiz...
DeleteI agree that the prices get higher yearly. I felt that the quantity was lesser and price got ridiculous! I was there last year at the same Bandar Tun Hussein car park and liked the stalls there. Parking easy and their variety really impressed me first time. Other areas somehow have different crowd and stalls. I think the best was along the main road in Kota Damansara, all well heeled Mak datins went there. I judged by their cars la.
ReplyDeleteThe place there OK lah... crowd also not so crazy. I shudder to go to more happening places like TTDI.
DeleteWah, at Kota Damansara there must be a lot of Mercs parked by the roadside, eh? ;p
Ya everything getting pricier and then some tak pandai masak also buka gerai.
DeleteKota Damansara ah..no thankiu. also very jam. Then the place very near to The Curve and 1U. Bad publicity lately
I agree on that Meow!
Deleteyalah, now everything also naik harga.. every year pricier than the previous year.. but gaji still sama!!
DeleteSigh that is the stupid inflation...
DeletePrice high n the food is in small qty...
Don't mind sharing that my bosses opened a sales office right upstairs the Pappa Rich outlet there. You nampak ka itu syarikat membina kilang? I was there every week for few months but not anymore as almost all sold out. I was there just sibuk sibuk and pretended to work by having coffee at Pappa Rich. Actually I was so free spamming SK Thambee's blog those days, that was why boleh menang 2 Kali. Kakakakakakaka
ReplyDeleteDidn't notice. Wah... almost sold out project kah? Must get a hefty bonus after this. ;p
DeleteI only lepak at that Pappa Rich once.
So you lepak there and pretend to meet clients but actually went there to spam SK Thambee was it? Pecah rahsia! LOL
hahahaha, but even pecah rahsia also Anay's boss still sayang him lah.. Anay's like the "prosperity cat" to his boss lah.. hahahaha!!
Deletehe also simpan boss punya rahsia, right? ;p
DeleteThat and he brings a LOT of money.
TM, ada vacancy there kah? Jadi your assistant ke? kekeke
hahaha, yeah!! the best asset, and also a weapon, you can have is to simpan your boss punya rahsia!! fuyoh, Anay sure jalan melintang in his company lah~~
Deletep/s: no wonder can use office printer to print Letchumi's lecture notes inches thick!!! :D
DeleteHahaha ini SK thambee keep on ratting on TM anay! LOL
Deletebecause in this post, TM Anay kept mentioning SK Thambee in every post!! :D
DeleteThat area banyak stray dogs and they multiply damn faster than kutus inside SK Thambee's head! Hahahahaha
ReplyDeleteYalor... the strays usually stay under Carrefour in the early morning. Last year, can hear them howling while I did my run on the incline near the lake. Those dogs didn't disturb me, but I think I'll stay away from that route this year. I'm more wary of humans. @.@
Deletehuman are more dangerous. Now with crime targeting ladies. scary la. they just slash and grab like that.
DeleteThere's nothing to grab when I'm out running. @.@
Deletewho says...later grab then how?
Deletethat's why more scared. Grab things never mind... just don't grab the orang! @.@
Deletehaiz...my mistake..typo error...meant to say "later grab you how."
Deletegot stray cats and stray dogs, and now stray mat rempit!! aiyoh, you better not go near..
DeleteToday lah... but better stay away.
DeleteLast year I witnesses a drunk driver who got his car into a ditch just after the Petronas station. Then, all the guy's friends came over but I guess all also a bit drunk. Gila!
fuyoh, why are you witnessing all the ugly side of the place?? haha, but good for you, at least now that you are staying away and friend friend with the minachi already~~ :D
Deletesee la whether can friend friend the aci tomorrow. ;p
Deletecan lah, aci very friendly one mah.. somemore gadis so pretty sure she'd like to friend friend with you..
DeleteI remembered last year, I bought some kuehs and tak boleh tahan, started munching them while walking. I realized some people were staring at me, apek cina eating while still fasting hours! I just smiled back and they laughed lo. I think not polite of me la. Was it you?
ReplyDeleteWas that you, Anay? So damn impolite! LOL
DeleteI stare stare at you and you went on muching happily. Piak your head! kakaka
Aduhai! Sakit kepala ku!!
Deleteactually i did that too!! sometimes the food are just too nice, we cannot resist and sometimes have not thought about the fasting friends also.. i've bought some kueh from the stalls and before i reach home, i've already finished eating!! wakakakaka~~
DeleteIf I see these two doing it, I piak both their heads! LOL
Deleteis that really rude to do that ah?? i thot during the fasting month you tend to be more understanding and don't care about other people eating in front of you?? and also this is the month to train you to resist your desire mah, right?? :D
Deletebut if you go to a place catering to muslims who fast and the vast majority do not eat at that time, don't you feel out of place eating?
DeleteI can be understanding. But I hope others understand me too. So there. ;p
that's why, always go to a place where nobody is waiting to break the fast.. haha!!
DeleteBETUL!
DeleteNow saying about politeness and so..... I totally forgotten about fasting month and I was enjoying my breakfast with my 2 malay colleagues in front of me, yes, this morning.
DeleteAm I being rude and not tolerant? But I have not taken my breakfast yet T___T
And I feel so awkward to take a sip of my drink....
DeleteFor me, actually I don't really mind especially when I'm at the office.
DeleteBut I do mind when colleagues eat anything that smell (fried mee, nasi lemak) when it is during office hour. So not professional!
Don't worry lah Yvonne, we won't be offended if you drink. I don't and I keep telling my colleagues it's totally OK to do it.
Then again, if we are out for a buka puasa event, I think it is good manners for the non-fasting guests to wait and eat together with the fasting guests and not wallop food first. ;p
I'll probably be making my first Ramadan bazaar visit tomorrow evening near my place. I'm sure the food is going to cost a bomb but heck, once a year, ok la.
ReplyDeleteIIRC, your running route last year passed by the bazaar, right?
DeleteHappy running and enjoying the food smell! ;p
wah lau eh...bukan main ramai orang over there.
ReplyDeletehow is the quality of food over there ah? Ok or not?
My side here every tom dick and harry tau masak a bit aje went and open stall.
How i missed K.Trengganu punya Ikan bakar...
I want satar & nekbat!
Deletewhat is nekbat?
DeleteSatar and lekor got la
that baulu lookalike that is drowned in syrup. :)
Deleteso early already started the pasar ramadhan?? i thot normally the first day everyone stays at home, everything only started on the second day??
DeleteLast time maybe lah.. Now it's full swing and full steam ahead on first day!
Deleteyalah, i always thot first day sure all stay at home with families, so yesterday i wanted to go Chili's but then the usher said need to wait for an hour at least.. crazy lah!!
DeleteLagi crazy if you waited! @.@
Deleteno lah, of course i am not waiting for that, waited any longer i fainted in from of the restaurant..
DeleteAll the hawkers are so commercialized, they just come, hog a place, cook and sell. It's so hard to find a decently delicious and yet cheap stall~
Deletetrue also...
Deletethe ones that still sell good, quality food are very hard to find and if found, lots of people want to buy from them also. Long queue!
true also la. We not really Food Blogger. so wanna snap photo also dare not go near to snap. some they dont like ppl snapping photos.
ReplyDeletesometimes i snap photos also takut takut
Yalor... then kena marah... die! kekeke
DeleteI also curi-curi take photos at market. Maybe if I'm blonde, they wouldn't mind so much. ;p
or maybe bring those big big DSLR camera...sure they will pose . LOL
Deleteno DSLR...hu~
DeleteMaybe I should get one and pretend like I'm one terer photographer out for an assignment! LOL
gadis, time to invest in a smartphone lah.. the photo quality can compete with DSLR one.. somemore with smartphone, you can upload photos straight away and blog, and spam comments too!!!
Deletei am going to ignore this comment! LOL
Deleteno.. you cannot ignore this comment.. once in a while i will come here to remind you and psycho you to get a smartphone.. :D
Delete*shut ears*
Deletelalalalalalala
LINA~~
DeleteSMARTPHONE~~
:D :D :D
i really cannot imagine myself having cheeseburger or big and tasty or quarter pounder at 5:00am in the morning!! my digestive system has not yet wake up!!
ReplyDeletebut ok lah since it's sahur, you need lots of energy to survive till dusk.. that's why i really salute you lah, you have that determination!!
Deletei can keep myself in hunger for the day lah, but cannot keep myself from thirst.. this is really challenging, and especially for Raimie.. is this his first year fasting??
Deletei really wonder how it feels like to fast huh?? maybe if i can do that, i may lost 10kg in a month~~ @_@"
DeleteRaimie has been fasting since he was 7. Full month fasting since two years ago.
DeleteYou think can lose weight kah? I cannot! Because for buka puasa, always eat too much sinful food! bwahaha
very true also.. because you've been starving for the whole day.. and when buka puasa you actually eat more than your normal quota.. tsk tsk tsk.. no wonder you insist on running!! haha~~
DeleteAiyoh, I run so much also never slim down one...
DeleteNowadays I run to keep fit and challenge myself (plus train for any upcoming race) ^^
you never slim down because you are already very slim until there's no more room to slim down~~ :D
DeleteAiyoh... kipas me so well! kakaka
Deletehaiyoh, got stray mat rempit there, you better stay out of the place.. follow the "minachi" in your condo lah, and slowly you two become good friends already..
ReplyDeleteyou see, TM has Letchumi, SK has Kamala, and Lina has Minachi!! we all one family, hahahaha~~ :D
Deleteactually i thought you will stop running for a month during the fasting month lah.. but you are still running!! meaning you wake up at 3:30am to run??!!
DeleteYup! 3.3oam. Did that last year. That or run near midnight. See how it goes this year. But I'm definitely not resting from running for a month!
DeleteAdidas King of the Road 16.8K run is just two weeks after Raya! @.@
3:30am!! KNS!! i am very sure i was meeting Kamala in my dreams at that hour, hahahaha!! :D
DeleteKNS?? SK, no vulgar word during fasting month, faster tarik balik your word....
Deletekan? Itu SK so vulgar!!!!
Deletefuyoh, pasar ramadhan!! i always thot there's no pasar ramadhan on the first day and the last day.. cos everyone will spend these two days with family..
ReplyDeletebut now competition is more intense huh?? and also things are more expensive too.. i always have a perception that those nyonya kuih are still selling at RM1 for 3 pieces, until the other day, it's like RM0.50 a piece already..
Deleteand that RM0.50 a piece is even smaller than those RM1 for 3 pieces!!
Deletegula mahal mah!
Deletegula mahal, tepong mahal, minyak mahal.. all also mahal!!! BN BN BN~~
Deleteyou have your regular soya bean pakcik!! so does he recognise you, the soya bean gadis?? hahahaha..
ReplyDeleteand i actually realised, the same stall manned by the same person will be setup at the same location as well!! that's pretty impressive right?? they remember the exact location every year~~
Deletefuyoh!! i have put in 20 comments lah, and all very "meaningful and relevant" comments!!! hahaha, wanna go to bed lah, good night and selamat berpuasa ya~~ :)
Deletethe 21st comment.. so who's the King of Commenters?? actually he's SK himself, hahahaha!! the owner of the blog that produces all the kings and queens of spamming~~ :D
DeleteSoya bean uncle only recognises hubby. Not me who go there and buy the soya bean drinks. ;p
DeleteYeah, the crown of spammers is held by SK. Most definitely! LOL
yalah, so when you want to award me a hadiah for that?? huhuhuhu~~ :D
DeleteGotta ask the others also. Maybe can "pot-luck" buy you hadiah. kekeke
Deletei thot i spam in every single post of yours, then each will give me one hadiah~~ :(
DeleteDun be sad SK! OK OK wait ah... later I cari nice nice present for you. ;p
DeleteI must visit the pasar ramadan near my place..
ReplyDeleteToday? :)
DeleteI have no problem imagining a day without food. When I'm in one of my hectic moods - working, reading, surfing, walking, exploring - I can easily go without food for 12 hours or more. What I find very hard to imagine is a full day (in hot weather!) without any liquid. (*_*)
ReplyDeletePS: I love reading these comments with all the Malaysian expressions. I don't follow all of 'em, but I love reading 'em. ^^
Mind over matter. heh heh
DeleteI have enough practice anyway. All 30+ years of practice. ;p
Don't you just go nuts reading how we mangled the language! hehehe
I wanted to try out fasting since I was young... got influenced by my Malay friends. But that "day" never came, guess I'm too glutton and scare of dying of hunger :p
DeleteSigh.... my self-determination and will power is so low T___T
DeleteWhy they influence you, by the way?
DeleteEm... not really influenced, just that all my friends were fasting and I was eating, no fun. Then they asked me to join them~~ but I didn't :(
Deleteyay!!! the 100th comment!! mission accomplished!! yippee yippee~~
ReplyDeleteI guess I should celebrate it esp since SK so hardworking spamming me in this post! ;p
