Walk A Mile 2016 With Nestle Omega Plus

Your heart is in your hands, so it's up to you to take good care of it.

It's quite disheartening to note that every 15 minutes, there is one death caused by heart diseases in Malaysia. As heart disease doesn't happen overnight, it's important that we take care of our heart health now, rather than later.

Start young. But then again, I believe it's never too late to start a holistic heart management of physical activity accompanied by regular medical check-ups and a balance diet.

One way to do it is to start be active. Starting can be hard and the 15th annual Walk-A-Mile with Nestle Omega Plus and Yayasan Jantung Malaysia is an event where one can get a start with like-minded people.
On Saturday morning, Sep 3rd 2016; the whole family went down to Taman Botani Perdana Kuala Lumpur to join the Walk-A-Mile 2016. Yalah, one mile only but quite nice also to join a fun, easy event like this and enjoy a walk around the park. Don't you agree?
The route is around the lake area so it wasn't strenuous at all. Plenty of families joined and had fun that morning.

Flag-off was at 8.40am so before the flag-off, participants got to enjoy some Nestle breakfast of oats, cereal, milk and milo too! We continued to be served after we finished our walk too! So nice. ^^
 Before flag-off.

3,800 registered participants that day. Plus kids with families, I think there were more. Lake Garden was a sea of red!
The path was marked with Nestle Omega Plus Walk-A-Mile encouraging posters about health and we didn't just walk and finish.
There were some fun obstacles we could try too! Even adik trainee polis were game in doing them!
And there were the heart-shaped mascot to take photos with, too. Somemore, three stormtroopers came and join the walk!
There were also fun booths where participants can join in some games and a CPR booth where we learned how to do CPR.

It was a fun, relaxing morning for us. We got to enjoy a nice morning out (thank goodness the weather was good) and had fun together.

The Walk-A-Mile 2016 is a good start to other healthy activities such as walkathons or fun runs in my opinion.

Start with a mile and who knows where it'll bring you.

The family next outing together will be the Run For National Unity 5K where we'll run as a team.

  1. I always salute the organizers who make events for all generations. All the future leaders and champions have to start from young.

I am seriously interested to learn CPR now after seeing people collapsed in public.

    1. That's a scary experience!

Was somebody who could help around that time?

Ya, I also need to learn. At least basic things in case of emergency.
