In The Presence Of Inspiring Mommy Runners
Krazirunners. They are the first group of runners that I got to be a part of.
Nannoor, one of the Krazirunners gals is the first person I did a training run with. Before that, I ran alone. Always. (Zaini doesn't count because he used to cycle while I did my LSD).
Through her, I got to befriend other like-minded ladies. Single, married, with kids, no kids... Basically ladies who loves to run, just like I do.
With them, I got to share their limelight too. First the Bella TV interview.
Recently, we got a chance to be interviewed for a newspaper. For Kosmo.
For both the opportunities, on behalf of Krazirunners; we'd like to thank Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013 organiser and their PR company for the chance.
Photo shoot in session. Man, it was hard work! HAHAHA
Made easier because the girls are a happy bunch and the "Abang" photographer is such a nice guy too.
The interview afterwards. Here, Hanim was replying to the reporter's question in earnest while the rest of us were joking around behind her.
The experience of going for interviews, both print and TV for me had been great.
It started with this :
Which, funnily enough I didn't even replied to, emailed to or commented to. But somehow I got contacted by Standard Chartered KL Marathon PR company for a chance to share my story of running with my family.
You know, like this :
Then, the interest for a story about a group of women (mommies, especially) running got their interest and that's how we Krazirunners (some of us, anyway) got the NTV7 Bella & Kosmo interview.
Running makes us experience a lot of things and meet new people apart from the run itself! What a rewarding past time! ^^
We're not sure when the Kosmo article will be published though it'll probably be after SCKLM 2013 race day. Hopefully, all the ladies will get some nice photos published. Toes crossed! ^^
Anyway, for ladies out there who is thinking to run but think they couldn't - just remember. The hardest part is taking the first step. It'll get easier (and more fun) the more you do it. Size, shape or creed does not matter when one is running.
If I can do it, so can you! We may lumber along but hey! You can't fault us for not trying. Or even "sayuring" other seemingly more fit runners at races! Hehehe
Just take the first step. Running is a very social sport. You'll meet other like-minded people along the way and they are mostly happy to be sharing their experiences. Like my Krazirunners gals. *love them*
Like the Kosmo reporter mentioned, I don't train much. After all, I only run an hour a few times on weekdays and maybe 2-3 hours on Sat and Sunday, with average weekly mileage of around 30-60km but I like to think that I'm consistent.
Just put in 20min at first. That's what I did when I first started. 20min a day, at least three times a week is better than none at all.
It is never too late to start too. The reporter asked me whether I think I started to late for this. Well, I started at the age of 36. Not a problem for me. Why should it? Right? :-)
Jom lari? ^^
Or will I see you at the starting line of Standard Chartered KL Marathon this weekend? Holler if you do. :-)

SCKLM is a good race to PB.
For me, I plan to do PW.Janji lari. Hahaha
Great!
ReplyDeleteIt's even greater when you got interviewed and appeared in TV and newspaper.
ReplyDeleteI digress.
DeleteI find the greater part is that we get tp experience a lot of other things from running & that includes being on TV & newspaper. :-)
Running is a truly great activity. :-)
The family that runs together stay together, I like this quote!
ReplyDeleteAnything that the family does together will make them stay together, right?
Deletewow wow wow.. our Mak Glam the Celebrity Running Mommy Blogger!! better ask her for her autograph now and that will be very priceless in the future to come~~
ReplyDeleteHail!
DeleteGlemer sudah habis la.
I doubt there will be anymore appearances in the future. :-D
it's always great to have a group to bring people of the same interest together.. not only sharing the common interest, but also inspiring, motivating and growing each other within the group..
ReplyDeleteAgree.
DeleteLike one hamsap person will only get more hamsap if he/she got kaki to do it together. :-P
and now our Mak Glam is surely like an experienced runner trying to encourage ladies to run.. and yeah, you definitely are doing a good thing.. i can still remember that time when you just started running and now you sound already like an expert.. it's like watching a baby growing up, hehe!! :p
ReplyDeleteErk!
DeleteDid I sound "macam pandai"?
Adoi. Hahaha
I just have a little bit of experience. Little bit also can share, kan? ^_^
But yeah, two years ago I was happy to complete running 3k, which felt really far. Now... Well. Sudah run 42k. Imagine that.:-)
Tang mananye yang big size runner tuh?? See you at the starting line kakak! Or middle of the run, or at the finishing line! #teamhalfmarathonjuga
ReplyDeleteSee you there. Stick around and wait for me, ye.:-)
Deletethe best exercise.
ReplyDeleteIt is. :-)
Deleteaaawww.. i love my krazirunner sistah too.. -hanim
ReplyDeleteMe too! *muaks* :-)
DeleteHuh! I am shocked that you only started at 36 years! I thought you started chasing and running since you were a teen! Then Anay started running much earlier but my record numbers are so MALU.... kikikikikiki
ReplyDeleteI hated running la Anay. OK, so I competed in 100m, 200m, 400m in school but that's different from longer distances.
DeleteWhen I used to go to gym, I prefer the elliptical machine for my cardio. Last time the speed 6 on the treadmill already so laju for me! >_<
Why malu? No need malu la Anay. We keep fit in different ways, what. :-D
Of course it is never too late to start any exercise in life. In fact we should run or walk often when we get older to keep our bodies going!
ReplyDeleteYou are right!
DeleteAnd we must encourage everyone to start. Regardless of age.
Health is wealth.
I do hope that you will always be in the news to motivate families to do exercise activities together. Good Mama!
ReplyDeleteI have not forgotten to get reporters to hound you. Give me time yeah.
Let's all motivate each other, Anay. Limelight or no limelight. :-)
DeleteAnay is too good to me.^_^
p.s. Can also get a shoe deal ah? Bwahaha
