VRace The City And Rediscover Kuala Lumpur

KL folks... (or those visiting KL these few months)

Do you love running and enjoy being competitive but have problem joining races that's available around KL?

There's a new virtual race coming to you and it sure looks FUN! It's the VRace KL!

For those already in the city or visiting KL, I think this is the perfect excuse to include running in our travel plans and join the VRace KL and win some goodies through its challenges!

VRace, Malaysia's first multi-location Virtual Run will kick-start on Dec 21 2018 with the rediscovery of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - a vibrant city built of skyscrapers with a variety of hidden gems.

Kuala Lumpur is a world class city in Malaysia built for people from all walks of life. With an estimated population of 1.73 million (as of 2016), it covers an area of 243 km2 with an abundance of beautiful locations suitable for running.

Run through the city of Kuala Lumpur and complete at least 2 location checkpoints with a minimum total of 10 kilometers to earn entitlements, rankings, and an unprecedented journey to explore the bustling city of Kuala Lumpur.

1. BUKIT JALIL RECREATIONAL PARK
Checkpoint: International Garden - Malaysia
(results accepted within 50-metre radius from checkpoint)

Attractions: International Garden | Trails | Lakes | Heliconia Garden

2. BUKIT KIARA
Checkpoint: Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara
(results accepted within 50-metre radius from checkpoint)

Attractions: Kiara Hill Trail | Bukit Kiara Mountain Bike Trail | National Science Centre

Note: Trail kaki loves this place and has generous numbers of hilly sections. A lot of monkeys too.

3. DATARAN MERDEKA
Checkpoint: Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad
(results accepted within 50-metre radius from checkpoint)

Attractions: KL Tower | Jabatan Warisan Negara | KL Forest Eco Park | KL Upside Down House |Royal Selangor Club | St. Mary's Cathedral

4. DESA PARKCITY
Checkpoint: The Waterfront @ ParkCity
(results accepted within 50-metre radius from checkpoint)

Attractions: The Waterfront @ ParkCity | Desa ParkCity Lake | The Central Park Playground

5. FOREST RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF MALAYSIA (FRIM)
Checkpoint: Sg Kroh Waterfall, FRIM
(results accepted within 50-metre radius from checkpoint)

Attractions: Bird Watching or Wildlife Observation | Kepong Botanic Garden | Arboreta |

Ethnobotanical Garden | Wetland Area

6. KLCC PARK
Checkpoint: Suria KLCC- Fountain Entrance
(results accepted within 50-metre radius from checkpoint)

Attractions: PETRONAS Twin Towers | Suria KLCC | Lake Symphony

7. PERDANA BOTANICAL GARDEN
Checkpoint: Bamboo Playhouse
(results accepted within 50-metre radius from checkpoint)

Attractions: Sunken Garden | Hibiscus Garden | Herbarium | Laman Perdana | Goose Island

8. TUGU NEGARA (NATIONAL MONUMENT)
Checkpoint: Tugu Negara Sculpture

Just click on each of the park for information, proposed route and its elevation. You can also download the GPX file.

Of course, you don't need to follow the proposed route, your run will be counted as long as the checkpoints and distances have been completed.

I know I'll be running and checking myself at Dataran Merdeka on Jan 1st, 2019 for my first 10K of the year. See you there!

And KLCC Park on Jan 9. Then Desa Parkcity on Jan 26. I'm on a roll! Hehehe
