Masak Lemak At Itik Salai Masthar Sg Merab

Hubby and I both had a hankering for some decent masak lemak on Saturday and we decided to head out to look for a place for lunch.

Unbeknownst to me, Hubby had set his sights to Itik Salai Masthar in Sg Merab. The place is quite well-known, friends had tried their food and gave thumbs up and the place has even been featured in food/viral websites/pages.

The thing is, we always avoid viral places but Hubby said since this place doesn't have "meleleh", "merecik", "viral", "meletop", etc in their own tagline; he 'd give it a go.

Let the food speaks for itself, not your tagline. Gitu.
We got there at around 2pm and the place was still full with diners.

There's two queues - one for those dining in (it's self service) and another for those who want to "tapau".

After choosing what we wanted to eat, then we queued to pay and get our drinks. Just plain water for us.
We got a bowl of Daging Salai Masak Lemak.
And of course, its namesake - the Itik Salai Masak Lemak.

For those who are worried about the "hanyir"ness of duck, worry not. No "hanyir" whatsover for their Itik Salai.

Both are very yummy, just a hint of "pedas" but nothing eye-watering so it's suitable for everyone. For me, the Itik Salai gravy tasted richer and more "lemak" and the Daging Salai has a slightly thinner but "masam" gravy.
Four plates of rice (the other one not in the photo was a nasi tambah) and two bowls of Masak Lemak for RM20.00.

Not bad hor.

And the portion was certainly enough for the three of us.

Will we make a repeat visit?

Definitely.
