Because Everybody Deserves A Best Buddy In Their Life

A walk for inclusion.

A walk for acceptance.

A walk for friendship.

Are we embarrassed of disabled people, even (or especially) when they're our family? Do we discriminate them, instead of offering them our friendship? Our love? Our acceptance?

That's what is mentioned in the video above.

That's why I am open to participate in Best Buddies Friendship Walk because, quoting Helen Keller; "Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light."

What's it's all about?

Best Buddies Friendship Walk 2014 aims to changes lives, as participants walk for inclusion, friendship, leadership, and opportunity for people with and without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
In the Best Buddies Friendship Walk Malaysia, the goal is to generate awareness and also to showcase our program to other schools, universities and corporations so that they too would adopt this program and help spread the vision of a Malaysia that actively practices INCLUSION.

Walk for inclusion. Walk for friendship. Walk for a better community.

Best Buddies is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

How can we be a part of this?

Registration can be done via this online registration form (link here)

Here's an activity flow of the flow come Sep 6th, which I got from their Facebook page :
Anyways, more info on Best Buddies can be gleaned from this website too (link here) and also Best Buddies Malaysia.

The least we can do, of course join the Best Buddies Friendship Walk 2014 which will be held on September 6th, 2014 from 4.00pm - 8.30pm at Taman Tasik Permaisuri.

I'll be there. Will you join me?

  6. Hi Lina,
I have to admit that it isn't easy to love the disable. But humanity is still deeply rooted in me. I see OKU in my school almost daily. I tried to talk to them but they were too shy to talk to me. Huhu..

Sorry...I won't be joining you since I don't think I can fly there.

  7. I really salute Helen Keller and I cried buckets when I saw her B&W life story on TV when I was a child.
I love this quote - "Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light." My wife would always bake and deliver to our handicapped friend Peter who always champions for all the handicap's rights in our country. He is married, so we won't be walking with him, instead we fill his tummy! LOL...
