Press Release: AN ADVENTUROUS CHRISTMAS JOURNEY AT IOI CITY MALL

Putrajaya – Christmas, an annual popular festival associated with gift giving in appreciation and thanks of another good year to children, loved ones and friends.

IOI City Mall will once again be living up the magic of Christmas this year with spectacular happenings and fascinating custom-made decorations to set the scene for “An Adventurous Christmas Journey”. The story continued from last year’s success, whereby a young boy named Charlie crafted his Christmas moment at IOI City Mall. This time, Charlie came to learn good morals and acquire bravery through his new journey.

A Brand New Adventure to Explore

From November 25th, 2016 to January 2nd, 2017, “An Adventurous Christmas Journey” will showcase the most venturesome Christmas with a unique fable unfold through the vibrant décor at the mall. At a mesmerising 11 meters tall stood a magnificent wooden vessel, set afloat by two magical hot air balloons, carrying an important mission to sail Charlie on his adventure. The story goes when Charlie received a special gift on the Christmas Eve which allowed him to travel from places to places, uncovering valuable treasures and making new friends along the exciting journey.

The entire mall is transformed into a spectacular wonderland, featuring various colourful and magical settings based on the adventurous storyline. One of the highlights of the setting is a magical time tunnel which allows patrons to experience a transition passage from winter land to magical land. Other highlights that are not-to-be-missed are Wishing Well, lighthouse, decorated small huts and glittering Christmas trees with fairies. There are also a host of exclusive fairy tale characters namely Carren the Elf, and Ship Captain appearing in the mall to offer a delightful and welcoming ambience to its patrons. These imaginative sceneries and characters are surely a splendid photo opportunity for families and friends.

In addition, both parents and children alike will be delighted to know that all these incredible adventures of Charlie’s Adventurous Christmas Journey are kept in a specially designed Christmas story booklet made specially for this holiday seasons. The booklet, available mall-wide, contains engaging activities like solve the maze, spin the wheel and make an origami to keep the little ones occupied during the school break. IOI City Mall proudly welcomes visitors of all ages to come and explore these magical adventures this Christmas, for an enchanted experience that is truly unique.

To further enhance the shopping experience at IOI City Mall, a variety of interactive activities and performances are held throughout the celebration period. Holly Jolly Christmas Fun with the Kids
In the event of true Christmas spirit, IOI City Mall and Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng (Yayasan TSLSC) collaborated and organized “Holly Jolly Christmas Fun” as part of their corporate social responsibility initiatives. On 6 December 2016, a total of 14 children from Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cornerstone and 23 children from Pusat Jagaan KanakKanak Istimewa Lagenda enjoyed a fun-filled morning with thrilling activities at District 21, a 70,000 sq. ft. indoor action adventure park located within IOI City Mall. The children had a great time taking on some of the exciting rides offered at the theme park such as the largest indoor rope challenge course, Sky Trail and Malaysia’s first indoor Roller Glider, as well as, other activities prepared specially for them such as sand-art and DIY Christmas card-making. They were later treated to a delicious meal specially prepared by Texas Chicken.

During the media launch, Bargain Basement contributed its nett proceeds worth RM50, 000 to five beneficiaries in a cheque presentation by the Executive Director of Yayasan TSLSC, Datin Joanne Wong. Five homes namely Rumah Shalom (Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kristian Aman Selangor), Yayasan Seribu Harapan Malaysia, Pertubuhan Anak Yatim Darul Aminan, Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cornerstone and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Lagenda will be receiving RM10,000 each. This initiative is in support with Bargain Basement’s motto which is “give to inspire others to give”. “Besides helping to remove clutter at home, this initiative also benefits the environment as the goods are used by someone else instead of being dumped in a landfill,” said Datin Joanne. Additionally, the children also received a school bag and goodie bags distributed by Datin Joanne and General Manager of IOI City Mall, Mr Chris Chong. Items in the goodie bags such as light snacks, drinking bottle and much more were sponsored by Yayasan TSLSC and The Manhattan Fish Market.
